If you ever offer an online course that focuses on lab work, I’ll be the first to register. You have good knowledge and a humble, generous spirit. As always - thank you.
As in surgery, no outer packaging (ie., kraft shipping boxes) should enter the ‘vestibule’. Always take supplies out of the packaging before shelving away.
I have a vertical laminar flow hood; my desk space often gets cramped with extra plates, cultures I'm working on and maybe some spawn ready to be sent to bulk... colonisation tent is upstairs; next to fruiting tent but contained. On the one side of the desk in the lab is microscope and desktop autoclave, the other is clear and I use it for prepping agar, writing notes etc. Hoping to improve this year.
As a former surgical assistant, it’s the same in surgery… we always save the ‘dirty’ surgeries for the end of the day, so this makes sense. (Plus, I’m extremely anal about sterility!)
Any thoughts on air filtration? Air purifiers? I just watched a CBC investigative piece on those expensive air purifiers, some completely useless, some actually work.
How would you go about implementing a workflow similar to this one in a small 4x4x7 ft grow tent lab? I just got my flow hood and when it arrives I’m going to try to set it up with some of these points in mind, but obviously it’s not ideal because of the small size. When I’m able to update to a larger tent, I will, but until then 4x4x7 is all I have. I am using it because I have carpet and carpet is super dirty so I figured it is better than nothing. I also installed laminate flooring in the tent to make the base more stable & resistant to tearing under the weight of my desk / hood and so that it can easily be cleaned.
I would have a fan blowing in with a filter for positive pressure like this video th-cam.com/video/C6B3TwE3dKw/w-d-xo.html and put the laminar flowhood on a table furthest from the entrance
At first I had many charts now they are consolidated onto an excel sheet - it’s important so you can find a routine and catch trends when they start to happen
It really varries on what is available and the best priced. I prefer glass slants with twist tops but I also use sterile conical tubes (50mL are best) Dishes depend on what Im doing but usually 100mm x 15mm plates for production
Sir please give me your full lab plan pdf and fully procedure pdf to produce mushroom from spore culture to mushroom froot body. Sir please you are requested to give me step by step procedure to how can I get fresh and non contamited spore print from any mushroom. Because I am very interested for this culture. I like the procedural element of your videos. Thanks for sharing proper lab technique

Do you mind giving info on data recording, what’s your check list look like, and did you create a chart you printed off?
