I helped a good friend if mine set up a chamber this size when he was getting started, two years later he was the only gourmet mushroom supplier in our city, supplied most of the local restaurants, including the one I owned, on a daily basis, and was doing extremely well, he passed in a motorcycle accident on May 5th, miss ya Jess. How do you open up the zipper if you duct tape it? Can all this kit run off 1 power socket or is it recommended for more? Also is the tent construction rust resistant?

See, now in my experience you actually needed a gravity damper and light dust filter at your outake and controllable dampers for you intake to restrict airflow. In an ideal situation youd want to recirculate your air through an air handling chamber and only pump in fresh during pinning, for more control on mushroom quality and formation. Sure the air handling unit will get full of spores but you have to clean your stuff between crops as good hygiene practice anyway. A small pressure washer works great for quick cleaning and applying an antimicrobial

Thanks for all the info! I think you encounter algae contamination before the uv filter, because you have a transparent box an algae feeds on light, maybe you should try to change the type of plastic in case the uv light fails! Either way amazing set up! And thank you for addressing the spore dangers, lots of young folks are doing fruiting chambers on bedrooms!

THANKS for sharing, I just put up my 3x3x6 ac infinity tent for culinary mushrooms and going to use ac/inf 6" fan to exhaust with into an old ac/inf carbon filter to catch spores as I pump into my 4x8 grow tent for added co2

Do you think the additional fresh air intake with HEPA is necessary? Or would the fogger setup provide enough intake FAE?
@@edarrenellis I'd say one inline fan is enough but the fogger alone would not provide enough fae , I will elaborate my thinking below.
While for a much much smaller setup a small computer fan might produce enough fae like for an example a monotub setup but for a grow this size a fogger would simply not be enough fae and not that fresh either since there is no hepa filter on the fogger. However I believe you could save money by only having one positive pressure inline fan , I've seen others with this set up , without a second inline fan spore load will be greater but that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make for my setup I will be doing until I can afford a second inline fan. Anyways I hope this helps and I'd recommend watching willy mycos 3 part series on making a growing tent his videos go in alot more depth on the subject and is more of a budget friendly setup without sacrificing grow space.
Yes as someone already stated about your humidity chamber. Clear containers or even a black container that will let light sneak in will cause alge to grow. However I am very new to the mushroom cultivating as why I had come across your build video. Long time cannabis grower here. As they are both very similar but very different at the same time. Not sure if you already are keeping a log book of your grow, if not I found it very useful to keep one so if you ever have any problems you can always go back to your daily log book to see what you can zero in on. Thank you for sharing your video as it will help many others to see and understand how the process is. Happy growing

That's pretty much the setup I just started based on Kyle Gabriel's Mycodo test bed. I"m sure I'll be adding a floating fog generator soon enough to replace the ultrasonic humidifier. The AC Infinity tents are great!
A great resource for building a functioning fruiting chamber. I built mine according to directions, and tweaked a few things. First of all, I use an EZY storage tote that's 50L instead of the 19L. It's the right size for the nebulizer, though it was difficult to find. I had to get it on eBay. When making the holes I used a woodburner which gave me more precise cuts. When installing the plexiglass guards beneath the fan and the duct, not just any glue will work. They're made of polypropylene, and the only glue that worked for me was Loctite all-plastc glue. I glued a brace onto it and then glued it to the tote. The manuals for the AC Infinity Controller 67 and the Inkbird ITC-608T Temp/RH Controller were confusing, especially the Inkbird. TH-cam does have some excellent videos addressing this. All in all, this is an excellent video from the FMS and I highly recommend it.

@@fresnomycologysociety5004 hey, so I ended up building a very similar tent setup thanks to your help, but I have one issue I can't figure out how to solve: humidity is seeping out of the opening of the intake fan and a lot of it gets pushed out when my humidifier tote is running which makes the entire room foggy. I'm afraid that willl lead to mold/mildew. How did you prevent that?
@@ChristopheLimpalair i had this same issue, which is why i added the gasketed damper between the tent and the fan. Do you have one in place? That should help a lot. Sounds like you may be overhumidifying your tent a bit also, what %RH are running?
@@fresnomycologysociety5004 ohhh I misunderstood the video and thought the gasketed damper was to prevent backflow / bugs from outside so I thought it was between the tent and exhaust fan. That makes a lot of sense. I am running super high RH right now because I'm pinning oysters, so ~95%, but I usually keep it at 90% since I use it strictly for fruiting.
@@ChristopheLimpalair the damper definitely helps with that too, but yeah, primarily for keeping the humidity in the tent. Maybe experiment with the RH a little too, you may be able to have the humidifier kick on at a lower RH (around 85% maybe). Good luck!

Wow that is quite the evolution from the old marha very neat and cleanable.Keeps the mushrooms from growing in your walls and your lungs that’s a good thing. One thing that I have had issues with that I noticed the water can get inside those hollow poles that support the tent all you need to fix this is using aluminum or duct tape wrapped around the seems where the poles connect. I didn’t notice this until I took one apart and they were a bit rusty quite vectory a water trap inside.
Thanks for helping the rest of us with the knowledge gained from your hard earned experience. Now I won't make those mistakes. I'll certainly make other mistakes!

Awesome video! It’s funny, I’ve been wanting to put together a Martha tent at my new place. I originally considered buying a greenhouse cover separately to put over one of those wire kitchen racks (for sturdiness). I got to thinking then though, why even use a greenhouse cover? Why not a grow tent? So, it’s interesting to see others have had this same idea. Your’s is absolutely incredible! Excellent job! I considered that same HEPA filter you’re using for intake, but as an exhaust filter (on oxygen, so I don’t want to deal with spore issues). I’ve about decided instead to use one of the inline box filters that holds a 10”x20” HEPA filter. Unfortunately, I don’t have the capability to exhaust it to the outside. Your build gives me lots of ideas. You know- you might make some good money putting these together for people that are not very mechanically inclined so that they can just plug everything in and go. Anyway, again- great video!
That's a good business idea, I appreciate that! Yeah I have drafted a handful of spore capturing methods for that very reason, not everyone can vent their exhaust outside. I've seen the exhaust systems larger grow tent have and dude... the spore deposit is massive, so I think a hepa filter would get clogged super fast. I've wondered about making a bubbler type system, maybe with some soap or something in the water for extra surfactant power. Basically a glorified bong. Keep me posted on your build!
Big note! BIG NOTE! the ac infinity carbon filter isn’t good for contam, it’s for filtering out tomato air, that’s why he bought a HEPA filter

Looks great man! One suggestion would be to get a blacked out tote or spray paint your clear one black. Algae won't grow if it's pitch black. Still recommend a weekly cleaning of the tote.
Hmmm, very interesting comment. I hadn't thought of that. I started by looking at House of Hydro tutorials (since they sell the mist machine equipment and a lot of what goes with it), and hadn't realized the reason they always use non-transparent might be just that. Thing is, you can't see the water level, and when you are not making a model that automatically refills (which fits my needs better) it gets kind of tricky not having a transparent container. Plus, I guess algae and other water problems CAN occur in an opaque container, so you would still need to see that. Now I'm kind of in between in my decision making - am still in the making of. Thanks for sharing your thoughts though. I'll have to weigh the pros and cons.

Thank you very much for this very interesting video showing both your enthusiasm and your communicative passion for indoor mushroom production.
Unless I am mistaken, did I understand correctly that your tent, called the "Fruiting Room", would be used for the mycelium incubation phase, the primordial initiation phase and then the fruiting phase?
For my part, like you apparently have been before, I am in the midst of reflection and looking for (1) a reliable, qualitative and durable installation, (2) for an annual production, (3) with a reasonable financial investment (without wanting to sell off or skimp on it), and (4) with a non-lucrative aim, therefore without looking for economic profitability for my part.
Indeed, as an amateur cook and a fan of mushrooms, I would like to take advantage of different mushroom productions throughout the year for my own consumption and that of my close relations. I would like to replace certain mushroom purchases that do not always satisfy me or that are not available (except in restaurants) - while limiting myself to reasonable varieties in terms of difficulty of cultivation.
I would also like my solution to be as versatile as possible to accommodate the cultivation of species with different parameters (concomitantly; this seems to me to be an impossible feat to manage in a single "tent" for several different varieties at the same time - unless I have a counter-opinion in return - so successively; this seems to me, at first sight, to be more feasable).
At first sight, your solution seems to meet most of my criteria.
Especially as I appreciate your concern to limit contamination both on entry and on exit (especially the concentration of spores from the cultivation).
At this point in my thinking, the precise management of temperature throughout the year and the seasons is for me the greatest difficulty (for an indoor installation for personal use).
For example, my stumbling block lies with the requirement of certain individuals (mountain species for example or seaside) which require in their culture parameters between 4° and 10° Celsius to initiate primordias) whereas my environment is that of a temperate country (sometimes hot) and moreover in a habitat. So by now, I renounced (temporalily I hope) to contemplate the cultivation of such species.
Despite the fact that I have an integrated AC system in my habitat, it cannot work all the time just for this crop and especially it will not be precise and targeted enough, so I have considered solutions for this parameter but it seems unreasonable or inconsistent with the rest of adopted standards at this time, especially financially, at this stage.
Have you found the right balance to effectively manage the "temperature parameter"?
Your presentation might suggest so.
However, it seems to me that the first blind spot in your presentation lies in the management and especially the control of the said "temperature" parameter in the context of the implementation and operation of your tent, since as you yourself quickly indicated (not in the budget but in a later indication) with the presence of a "Top Secret DIY AC unit" which would allow you to operate your "tent" as you wish with a more precise control of the temperature parameter (at least I imagine so).
As your presentation does not mention one of the 4 fundamental pillars (even 5 if we try not to forget the Ph), I remain questionable and dissatisfied for the understanding of your solution on its taking into account of a part of the parameters (temperature and CO2).
Is your concern for confidentiality on this aspect definitive?
Indeed, how do you manage the subject of CO2 concentration? Indeed, it seems to me that you do not indicate the presence of a dedicated sensor.

As in when the exhaust fan kicks on or when the fresh air kicks on? I have the entire setup going and I love it thank you so much again. Just got to make some Masters mix blocks and give it a go
@@adamweber2107 I have them turn on for 2 minutes every half hour. This may be excessive though. Everytime the exhaust kicks on, the humidifier has to humidify the room.

Does AC Infinity T4 Ducted Inline Fan manage higher temperatures well? I wonder how do you normally cool it down or you never have this issue in the first place? It gets to 30/37C in my place.

What a great video for what I'm building. Will these all work for my 4x8 tent as far as air intake and CO2 exhaust go?
Pretty much all the equipment in my tent is way overpowered for the size. I run the fans and light at their lowest setting. And the humidifier will definitely keep up with a larger tent.
For the mist get a black bin. The yellow and black ones from home depot (HDX) are supper cheap like 11$ CAD for a big tote. You had algae grow cause light passed right through the transparent plastic.
I agree that a opaque color would help reduce the algae problem. The issue with those dark totes is they dont have a gasket seal for the lid, which would lead to a lot of fog escaping and wetting my floor, walls, etc. If you do use a tota like that, I would highly recommend getting a roll of weather stripping to seal it up tight.
@@fresnomycologysociety5004 Good point, i'll see see if i can work something out (receiving a fogger really soon). As for the automation of your grow tent, it's a little more DIY but i would suggest you look into Home Assistant ;). Kuddos for the video i'm tempted to try it in a 2x2 since i already have a 3x3 with other projects in it.
EDIT: Perhaps using car door seal (available on aliexpress for cheap) could do the trick to seal the tote
So, after going through this build process and (ostensibly) using it for the past year, do you have any notes on potential improvements or alternatives that may perform better? For example, dealing with the fog leakage seems like a huge red flag. Perhaps there are better chambers than tents?
Very nice setup! I bought a 4x4 tent but I have to try and use what I have on hand like
a humidifier and a old blower for an exhaust fan. I may regret doing this if I get poor quality grows. I don't want to invest a grand to just grow a few mushrooms for personal use. I hope it works.

With this controller I'm using, you're only option is a synchronized cycle, as they can't be independently programed, so yes.

Water does build up on the bottom, which is why the drip liner is so handy. I use a little wet/dry shop vac to suck it out every couple weeks when the tent is running
This is the best Martha build I have seen. Great work. This gives me ideas for my Martha. One question. Do you have a C02 meter?
I don't. CO2 meters are really expensive and seem to be the least necessary measurement in small grow tents like this, as long as you are exchanging the air a couple times per hour it shouldn't be a problem at this scale. The mushrooms are good meters themselves, and will become elongated/leggy/stunted if the CO2 is too high.
What width shelving did you use? The AC infinity width is actually a little less than 48 inches wide. I can not find shelf between 42-46inches. Thanks

Great video! Do you have any suggestions for situations where venting outdoors is impossible?
That's a difficult situation, I have thought about this as well. I think the best thing you could do would be to pump the exhaust through an air filter of some sort. I know AC airfilters are very course and wouldn't filter out 100% of spores, but they also have a static charge that should attract most of the spores. Without ducting in some sort of hepa filtration, which would clog up very quickly and also restrict the air flow, I cant imagine many other solutions.
@@fresnomycologysociety5004 Between spores and humidity, it’s a real challenge. I was thinking about using a monotub with micropore tape to catch, condense and filter the exhaust but am unsure how that would pan out in practical application.
Should be humidifier box in colour. It's the light that make alges grow in the tub.
I based a lot of my setup on this video, by far the best, thank you! But I need help understanding a couple points:
- why have a HEPA filter for air exchange, but only a thin foam over the humidity fan? Aren’t both pumping what could otherwise be contaminated air into the tent? I opted to attach the filter as an intake into the humidifier, pumping filtered humid air.
- would the humidifier and exhaust not suffice for air exchange? If you have the intake and exhaust running on a timer, wouldn’t the cleared out air need to fire off the humidifier?
I ask because I think I’m still suffering from lack of FAE, but the only thing I can make sense of is to double the intake and exhaust, still passing through the humidifier so as not to entirely clear out the humidity.
For anyone reading, seems like the HEPA filter is also unnecessary if you’re only fruiting (in which case they should be protected having been colonized).
But I’m still lost as to how humidity could be effectively maintained despite constant air exchange from both a dedicated duct system as well as the exchange of the humidifier system.
Thanks for the reply on my earlier question re: air exchange on larger tent. I'm also wondering if the ducting for your humidity goes in with your air intake or is it a separate ducting?

Do you think if I used the T6 AC Infinity version, it would be enough force to push the backdamper open? I noticed you used the T5 version which is less CFM, do you think the T6 might solve this backdamper issue, or could it be too much force for a small 4x8 tent?
Really well made vide, I learned a lot! Were there any parts that you had to replace in the mean time, like the lighting or maybe the fan etc? Really interested in knowing a bit about the longevity of the components you used
The only issues I've had to deal with is the build up of mold on the walls of the tent. This can be avoided be spraying down the tent lining with isopropyl or bleach after each flush. I think i only ran into this problem because i jusy kept throwing fruiting blocks in, one after another for weeks. I don't recommend that. Second issue was the build up of rust on my racks, i was looking at this racks that are identical in design except they have rubbanized paint that is supposed to help prevent corrosion
@@fresnomycologysociety5004what are your thoughts of going plastic? There are ventilated plastic shelf units available.. worst case they can be taken out and power washed clean..

Quick question what is the size measurements of the rack you use?
did you calculate the acrylic restrictor to allow for net positive pressure? or just trial and error? And how did you determine it was good enough (the tent expands when both fans are on?) so far, amazing video and answers everything i've got coming into my mind.
also... the missing piece is that A/C unit... i can't complete this build without temperature control!
How did those lights hold up in the high humidity? I tried purchasing them, but they are OOS everywhere and don't see any similiar ones with that are fully ip65-ip68 rated. Any help finding some would be super appreciated. Thank you for the video, very helpful.
Huh, yeah I guess they don't produce these lights anymore. It is holding up just fine so far. There are a handful of ip65 rated lights out there u can find if u look hard enough. These for example look cool
