Weingut Alten - 2021 Dry Riesling, Maximiner Klosterlay Vineyard

The Maximiner Klosterlay vineyard is an ideal place for Riesling grape vines. The vineyards face Southwest, with the Mosel River at the bottom and an open valley on the opposite bank. The soil is grey and blue slate, quartzite, and clay; underground springs provide sufficient water to the vines above.
We strive to translate our unique terroir into the bottle, and to do so we spend time in the vineyard every day. After pressing, our grapes go through a spontaneous fermentation in small stainless-steel tanks. The wine is given the necessary time to mature on the lees to produce a balanced and expressive Riesling wine.
This wine offers aromas of apple, lime, wild herbs and minerals, and transitions to the palate with bright fruit notes, energetic acidity, excellent balance, and length. It is an excellent choice to pair with light meats, seafood, or delicately spiced dishes.
