      Your ADHD is one of my favorite things about you! You have such a fun and amazing personality, as does your seester Amanda 😊. Thank you so much for showing us your updated curl routine. I just used your links in the description and bought some of the products you two used. I NEVER say that I'm excited to wash my hair, but the Eva spray, verb foaming gel, curl trigger spray and ghost oil have peaked my interest and done the impossible. I'm going to be impatiently waiting and checking tracking numbers for the next few days as all my new products get here lol. As always, I can't wait until the next video ❤. So sad I missed this live stream, but I'll try to catch the next one! 😁

      Hi Amanda,
      Question...is there a reason why you switch the brush when you are doing the ribbon technique? I see you and Mell do a few strands of hair with the brush in the front and the other with the brush in the back?
      For example...9:01 she used it in front and 9:39 she used it in the back.
      Thank you for your help. Love all your videos.

    i love how you guys are working together. it's like sister magic and it's heart warming. you are both giving each other the respect of taking turns and trying not to step on each others toes. I appreciate the update, thank you ladies! i have hair like mels..dark, coily, thin and stays around chest level. Always look up this chanel when i need advice! maybe try posting videos of styling other curly heads in between videos of you two giving us the repeated education and the routines. together and individually.

    I so appreciate this (and your many other) videos, thank you both! It was particularly helpful to see the side by side slightly different way of styling for shorter and long hair. 8 years into my curly journey and I still feel I’m trying to get the hang of it (though it’s loads better than it used to be thanks to this channel)! I have longer hair and always struggle with the brush styling/sectioning bit, so Amanda’s demo was really helpful. ❤

    I totally understand Amanda on the Denman brush. As much as I loved it, I stopped using it because the back of my head is like a completely different texture from the rest of my hair. It’s extremely course compared the rest of my hair and is usually the most difficult part of my hair to detangle. It didn’t matter how much I detangled that section of my hair, the Denman brush would not go through it. I didn’t want to damage my hair. When you guys started talking about the Tangle Teezer, I bought it. I brush through the back of my hair perfectly fine now when styling.

    • @zukokuka
      @zukokuka ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same except I have very fine hair. The denman brush pulls and snags my hair even when using leave in and detangling before. I use a tangle teezer now with no problems

    Hi Mell -love love your videos! Do you happen to have any blow dryer recommendations besides the Dyson? (Preferably one somewhere around $100 to $200 and found on Amazon, but all suggestions would be helpful.) The Dyson is just WAAAAAAY out of my price range, but I'm in dire need of a new dryer. Anyway, thank you and happy Texture Thursday!! ❤❤

    When I first saw this technique I thought way too much work. I’ve tried every other technique and I come back to yours. First of all thank you for being such a brilliant hairdresser for us curly girls. You are inspiring. I’ve always hated my curly hair. Now I am embracing it, just FYI your technique of ribbon curls is fast. It looks like it would take all day but I was able to do it another time. It’s so much faster than popping and dropping and praying. Thank you thank you. Are you and your sister are so beautiful.

    I have similar hair to Amanda. Definitely learned something today about gel. I’ve been brushing in the gel and my curls won’t last more than 2 days. I’ll try glazing it over. Been using the Curlsmith hydro gel. I’ll try the soufflé next time. I think it has more hold.
    I’ve also been using the Ouidad curl cream. Is the Moroccan oil cream heavier?
    Love oils too - Moroccan oil, Verb and Kérastase.

    Thank you Mel,, I now love my wavy curls .. they're dry due to bleach, but your method is working.. I might add that I'm a retired hairdresser and only knew the scrunch and co wash and fully wet down in shower everyday to be able to have curls.. that would still frizz when only half defused and left to Air dry. Life was a nightmare before your method.. You should write a book with step by step instructions and call it "curls for dummies." I live in Australia and your products recommend are harder to get even on amazon ( 3 x the price) but I'll keep trying.. so wonderful you shared your knowledge and do it so entertainingly ,, love love love your work.

    I have been watching your channel almost from the beginning of my curly hair journey in 2021. The information has been invaluable.
    Today I actually tried oil (avacado) to reduce the gel cast and fluff my hair. It worked!!!!!! Whoa!. My hair is fluffly, shiny, lots of slip and soft. It was the missing ingredient. I was getting frustrated with hard inflexible hair. I have low porosity hair so styling products are always a challenge. Too much product, instant flakes, dullness and hardness. I also agree with you with the creams. They don't work on my low porosity hair. I would love your recommendation on a curly revitalizer mist. Most of them are creamy and don't penatrate my low porosity hair. Help!!

    I definitely could use some help in the silicone department. I just learned that I have high porosity, and in the near 4 year curly hair journey I’ve been in so far, my routine has strictly been a CG friendly routine where silicones and sulfates and parabens have been avoided like the plague to the annoyance of some that I know.
    I wanna start incorporating silicones in my routine (specifically in the styling portion) but as someone who tends to flake a bit and is prone to build up I’ve been nervous to do so outside of lightweight oils. What should I look for when it comes to finding the right silicones for my curls (3Cish, medium texture and high porosity/density) that will cause little buildup and flaking, washes easily and doesn’t weigh down my hair?
    Sorry if it’s an essay of an explanation/question btw

    Love your videos, seeesters! Question to you and the community: I need to find the 'Mel' of skincare. Any recommendations? Would you two consider doing basic skincare videos at all? I don't need heavy make-up tutorials, but would like to get the valuable skincare knowledge from someone as fun, scientific and vibrant as you with product information that is not necessarily linked to a specific sponsor. I need to do for my skin what you've helped me to for my curls.

    Thank you for the amazing stream! I'm so glad to have participated in it!
    My question was: my hair looks like Amanda's did at the start of this channel, but I have like half of what she has. The problem I'm facing is that it's curlier wet than dry, no matter what I do. In my teens it dried curlier than wet. Now it's as curly wet as it was, but it dries more wavy than curly. (Never coloured it, never straightened it, but cut it short and neglected it for about 7 years, 2009-2016). Did you encounter something like that on your journey? If yes, what was the solution?

    • @ManesByMell
      @ManesByMell  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank YOU Daniela it’s so sweet of you to comment that!
      Your hair very likely has changed - but what you can try is use bond-building products (which can help restore the curl) i recommend k18, olaplex, AVEDA botanical repair or Ouidad Unbreakable bonds shampoo and conditioner or twist strengthen the bond mask OR Marc Anthony repair bond as another affordable option
      Then, try using salt sprays in your routine like the AG one I used (linked in description) this can help build more hydrogen bonds and enhance your curl pattern.
      I hope that’s helpful to you ❤

    • @DanielaChris
      @DanielaChris ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ManesByMell thank you! I'm trying Olaplex but I'm not as consistent with it as I should. I'm also starting to try salt sprays after your recent video where you talked about your changing curl pattern. That video really resonated with me, because now my hair is much healthier than in my teens when I used sulfates with no conditioner and rubbed it with the towel aggresively, but the curl is much looser too.

    I purchased the WHOLE Verb Curl line including shampoo and conditioner + the 10th Year Anniversary LE Ghost Oil and I honestly believe that the stars are Leave In conditioner, Curl Cream and Curl Foam Gel because the Shampoo and Conditioner is simply 🫨HORRIBLE!!!😑 Which is odd I haven't seen them mentioned on your channel🤔and I don't know why their not as cohesive as the rest of the product line.🤷🏻‍♀️

    Have you tried the CurlSmith Full Body Thickening Lotion? I've had a lot of luck getting more volume with that on my thin strands. Now my hair is no longer see-through on day 1 hair.

    Hey Mel! I have been avoiding silicones because I live in an area with super hard water so I can't use sulfate shampoo to strip the silicone from my hair. Please correct me if I'm avoiding product that I don't need to! If I can't use sulfate and silicone do you have other recommendations for humidity and really good cleansing?
