Can you tell I have ADHD? LOL. You deserve an award for getting through this NO CUTS NO EDITS REAL-TIME STYLING ROUTINE! I hope you found this helpful, thanks for watching ❤️❤️
Your ADHD is one of my favorite things about you! You have such a fun and amazing personality, as does your seester Amanda 😊. Thank you so much for showing us your updated curl routine. I just used your links in the description and bought some of the products you two used. I NEVER say that I'm excited to wash my hair, but the Eva spray, verb foaming gel, curl trigger spray and ghost oil have peaked my interest and done the impossible. I'm going to be impatiently waiting and checking tracking numbers for the next few days as all my new products get here lol. As always, I can't wait until the next video ❤. So sad I missed this live stream, but I'll try to catch the next one! 😁
Hi Amanda, Question...is there a reason why you switch the brush when you are doing the ribbon technique? I see you and Mell do a few strands of hair with the brush in the front and the other with the brush in the back? For example...9:01 she used it in front and 9:39 she used it in the back. Thank you for your help. Love all your videos.
i love how you guys are working together. it's like sister magic and it's heart warming. you are both giving each other the respect of taking turns and trying not to step on each others toes. I appreciate the update, thank you ladies! i have hair like mels..dark, coily, thin and stays around chest level. Always look up this chanel when i need advice! maybe try posting videos of styling other curly heads in between videos of you two giving us the repeated education and the routines. together and individually.
I so appreciate this (and your many other) videos, thank you both! It was particularly helpful to see the side by side slightly different way of styling for shorter and long hair. 8 years into my curly journey and I still feel I’m trying to get the hang of it (though it’s loads better than it used to be thanks to this channel)! I have longer hair and always struggle with the brush styling/sectioning bit, so Amanda’s demo was really helpful. ❤
I totally understand Amanda on the Denman brush. As much as I loved it, I stopped using it because the back of my head is like a completely different texture from the rest of my hair. It’s extremely course compared the rest of my hair and is usually the most difficult part of my hair to detangle. It didn’t matter how much I detangled that section of my hair, the Denman brush would not go through it. I didn’t want to damage my hair. When you guys started talking about the Tangle Teezer, I bought it. I brush through the back of my hair perfectly fine now when styling.
Same except I have very fine hair. The denman brush pulls and snags my hair even when using leave in and detangling before. I use a tangle teezer now with no problems
Hi Mell -love love your videos! Do you happen to have any blow dryer recommendations besides the Dyson? (Preferably one somewhere around $100 to $200 and found on Amazon, but all suggestions would be helpful.) The Dyson is just WAAAAAAY out of my price range, but I'm in dire need of a new dryer. Anyway, thank you and happy Texture Thursday!! ❤❤
Nothing more beautiful then a sister bond you both are amazing 🤗 Thank you for sharing your hair routine with us! These are definitely my favourite videos so thank you ❤
I know you girls are dyson ambassadors, but I'd love for you to check out and make videos about other styler tools such as Shark, Tymo, Laifen, Curlsmith and even Pattern. They are all hundreds of dollars cheaper and some even have better guarantees. I'd be so helpful for curly people with not a huge budget!
Have either of you used the Dream Coat Color Wow curly hair products that I am seeing everywhere right now? If so, how did they work? If not, can you try to get them to test them out?
When I first saw this technique I thought way too much work. I’ve tried every other technique and I come back to yours. First of all thank you for being such a brilliant hairdresser for us curly girls. You are inspiring. I’ve always hated my curly hair. Now I am embracing it, just FYI your technique of ribbon curls is fast. It looks like it would take all day but I was able to do it another time. It’s so much faster than popping and dropping and praying. Thank you thank you. Are you and your sister are so beautiful.
I have similar hair to Amanda. Definitely learned something today about gel. I’ve been brushing in the gel and my curls won’t last more than 2 days. I’ll try glazing it over. Been using the Curlsmith hydro gel. I’ll try the soufflé next time. I think it has more hold. I’ve also been using the Ouidad curl cream. Is the Moroccan oil cream heavier? Love oils too - Moroccan oil, Verb and Kérastase.
Thank you Mel,, I now love my wavy curls .. they're dry due to bleach, but your method is working.. I might add that I'm a retired hairdresser and only knew the scrunch and co wash and fully wet down in shower everyday to be able to have curls.. that would still frizz when only half defused and left to Air dry. Life was a nightmare before your method.. You should write a book with step by step instructions and call it "curls for dummies." I live in Australia and your products recommend are harder to get even on amazon ( 3 x the price) but I'll keep trying.. so wonderful you shared your knowledge and do it so entertainingly ,, love love love your work. Well done on your utube sussess & I wish you all the best in the future. I'll be following 😊
I have 2A/2B curly dyed hair and it’s super fine and frizzy! Any product recs? I don’t tend to use oils because it tends to clump on some areas, leaving my hair half frizzy half oily.
I've watched the entire thing. Thanks so much amanda for showing me how to style my hair! Our hair is so similar it's uncanny. I won't be so afraid to use some oils! Question: What is a good clarifying shampoo that you use?
Mel AND Amanda i love you guys so fucking much, i was hoping mel would ask us .. “wanna see out updated curly hair routines” but i lost hope and now i dont think ive ever been this happy to see a yt video, definition tips AND updated curly routines IN A ROW? IM DONE. Your loyal fan Asa!!
I have been using the Moroccan oil light hair oil on my fine low porosity hair. Since its fine and fragile, I feel it helps protect it. It doesn't weigh it down, and the smell is delightful.
I wish I had been on this live for the questions. Almost 60 year old letting her gray in, that texture is so course. Not to mention being a mix Afro Puerto Rican hair mix. Are there products for gray hair?
I have been watching your channel almost from the beginning of my curly hair journey in 2021. The information has been invaluable. Today I actually tried oil (avacado) to reduce the gel cast and fluff my hair. It worked!!!!!! Whoa!. My hair is fluffly, shiny, lots of slip and soft. It was the missing ingredient. I was getting frustrated with hard inflexible hair. I have low porosity hair so styling products are always a challenge. Too much product, instant flakes, dullness and hardness. I also agree with you with the creams. They don't work on my low porosity hair. I would love your recommendation on a curly revitalizer mist. Most of them are creamy and don't penatrate my low porosity hair. Help!!
I remember being young and taking the time to do my hair. Now being 47 I need to care about myself and take the time to self care. This process seems Forever
I definitely could use some help in the silicone department. I just learned that I have high porosity, and in the near 4 year curly hair journey I’ve been in so far, my routine has strictly been a CG friendly routine where silicones and sulfates and parabens have been avoided like the plague to the annoyance of some that I know. I wanna start incorporating silicones in my routine (specifically in the styling portion) but as someone who tends to flake a bit and is prone to build up I’ve been nervous to do so outside of lightweight oils. What should I look for when it comes to finding the right silicones for my curls (3Cish, medium texture and high porosity/density) that will cause little buildup and flaking, washes easily and doesn’t weigh down my hair? Sorry if it’s an essay of an explanation/question btw
Love your videos, seeesters! Question to you and the community: I need to find the 'Mel' of skincare. Any recommendations? Would you two consider doing basic skincare videos at all? I don't need heavy make-up tutorials, but would like to get the valuable skincare knowledge from someone as fun, scientific and vibrant as you with product information that is not necessarily linked to a specific sponsor. I need to do for my skin what you've helped me to for my curls.
I'd recommend Cassandra Bankson. She's a fun, energetic creator AND she explains the science behind ingredients and products. She also struggled with severe acne when she was younger and I think that extra passion for skincare shines through in her content.
Thank you. This whole time I been using the curly hair method. This new year I cut my virgin hair in layers after growing it down to my buttcrack 😅 i want to relearn how to take care of my hair. I got a lot of gifts card and purchases most of the products you guys suggested. Thank you I’m already seeing a difference!!
Just in time!!! Just watched this whole video doing my wash day😊 also I’ve been using the Verb for the past 2 years because you both and it’s hands down my favourite
Thanks for these great tips!!! I wish I had more time to air dry/diffuse, but thanks for sharing that I can diffuse some before running out the door. I can’t wait to see my results 🥰
I have fairly similar hair to Amanda except I don’t have long hair as if I did it would give me a headache. But I have medium to coarse hair and a loooot of it. My hair is medium to high porosity as well. But using the verb gel does great in my hair and the detangling brush now that I have it 😊 (I used a dupe denman brush before)
Yo soy una señora mayor que aprecia todos los consejos que ustedes dan. Sueño con conocerlas en persona y que me estilicen mi cabello. Gracia por todo.❤❤
Such a fun live! Thanks seesters! 🧡🧡 I have medium-low density slightly coarse wavy/curly hair. Two questions: 1. How do you pick a good every day shampoo and conditioner? 2. If I were to layer the Verb Curl Foaming Gel with another stronger hold gel, which one should I use first to get maximum definition and hold? 🧡🧡 Thank you!!!
What would be a good product for our scalp? You mentioned we clarify and/or exfoliate our scalp but we should hydrate it. Can the curlsmith calming conditioner be used for that?
Thank you so much for the additional explanation of the herringbone technique on top. It took me a couple of tries to get it to work, but this will help even more. I still use a Denman brush for styling but I make sure my hair is detangled very well before starting and only a few hairs that were probably loose already come away in the brush. Thanks again!
Thank you for the amazing stream! I'm so glad to have participated in it! My question was: my hair looks like Amanda's did at the start of this channel, but I have like half of what she has. The problem I'm facing is that it's curlier wet than dry, no matter what I do. In my teens it dried curlier than wet. Now it's as curly wet as it was, but it dries more wavy than curly. (Never coloured it, never straightened it, but cut it short and neglected it for about 7 years, 2009-2016). Did you encounter something like that on your journey? If yes, what was the solution?
Thank YOU Daniela it’s so sweet of you to comment that! Your hair very likely has changed - but what you can try is use bond-building products (which can help restore the curl) i recommend k18, olaplex, AVEDA botanical repair or Ouidad Unbreakable bonds shampoo and conditioner or twist strengthen the bond mask OR Marc Anthony repair bond as another affordable option Then, try using salt sprays in your routine like the AG one I used (linked in description) this can help build more hydrogen bonds and enhance your curl pattern. I hope that’s helpful to you ❤
@@ManesByMell thank you! I'm trying Olaplex but I'm not as consistent with it as I should. I'm also starting to try salt sprays after your recent video where you talked about your changing curl pattern. That video really resonated with me, because now my hair is much healthier than in my teens when I used sulfates with no conditioner and rubbed it with the towel aggresively, but the curl is much looser too.
Thank you for the live!! I work in a restaurant and I'm in and out of the kitchen which can get to 100+ degrees, Do you have an suggestion on products because my hair will usually puff up and knot? I also would like to know any up-do hairstyles that wont stretch out my curls as much. Honestly my go to is using a claw clip which helps.
I have fine hair, and prefer bangs that come down to about middle of my eyes. They absolutely REFUSE to curl like the rest of my hair. Finger coiling has hasn't really worked on them either. They have a mind of their own! HELP!! What tips for (shorter) bangs?
You two are so dang kahhhh-yooooot!!! ❤Thank you for all of your tips and information, I have learned a lot - although I have worn my hair curly my entire adult life. (I’m only going to be 54 in a few weeks! 🎉) I wish you continued success and I love the silliness and laughs. 😂
Would you recommend different products for curly salt pepper hair? I have medium density and porosity, 3a-b curls. I feel that I need a lot of moisture. Thanks!
Any affordable dupes to the Living Proof Full Dry Volume and Texture Spray? Also I’m having issues with hair bonnets so I’ve been wearing a hair buff? Is that ok? Regardless next day refresh is horrible for me I HAVE to use water?oils just weigh it down more. Do I need to use more gel?
I need to know how to make my curls bigger…the stringing ones are the ones over processed . I have a lot of thin hair mid back length.. ugh.. I love AG FOUND this product 15 years ago when Nexxus versastyler was discontinued… I love you two! I’m in the middle of both of you!
@Mell....I love the Verb Curl Foaming gel. I tend to use a liquid gel to get more days out of my wash day. Has either of you tried the MIelle Organics Sea Moss line?
Mel, I love the verb foaming gel. However I have a beef about it’s portability. It has this tendency to explode or foam like crazy even after leaving Ulta going home. My first bottle was in my carry on bag and it was full. I was gone for a 2 days. When I unpacked it was down to 1/3 😱😱😱
I purchased the WHOLE Verb Curl line including shampoo and conditioner + the 10th Year Anniversary LE Ghost Oil and I honestly believe that the stars are Leave In conditioner, Curl Cream and Curl Foam Gel because the Shampoo and Conditioner is simply 🫨HORRIBLE!!!😑 Which is odd I haven't seen them mentioned on your channel🤔and I don't know why their not as cohesive as the rest of the product line.🤷🏻♀️
Have you tried the CurlSmith Full Body Thickening Lotion? I've had a lot of luck getting more volume with that on my thin strands. Now my hair is no longer see-through on day 1 hair.
Hey Mel! I have been avoiding silicones because I live in an area with super hard water so I can't use sulfate shampoo to strip the silicone from my hair. Please correct me if I'm avoiding product that I don't need to! If I can't use sulfate and silicone do you have other recommendations for humidity and really good cleansing?

I love this! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this!
Would love to see a tutorial using a model with a loose-ish curl pattern, like a 2c/3a. LOVE you ladies!!
I love Amanda’s answers. We get caught up in wanting the perfect hair but that’s just not realistic and that’s okay. I’m glad she reminded us of that.
thanks so much everyone for joinin!!!

Our water is very hard here in Arizona. Is there a good way to adjust the pH of my hair after washing?

Both of your results turned out FABULOUSLY. Would love to see your high-lift color journey Mell!
What are your tips for people who don’t use hair dryers/diffusers?
I enjoy your videos, you have a way of making talking about hair issues fun ! For that alone kudos. Your sister looks so much like you.

Also I’m having issues with hair bonnets so I’ve been wearing a hair buff? Is that ok?
Regardless next day refresh is horrible for me I HAVE to use water?oils just weigh it down more. Do I need to use more gel?
Thank you girls. Take care and stay well. 💙🙏🏻🕊🌞 xx
I need to know how to make my curls bigger…the stringing ones are the ones over processed .
I have a lot of thin hair mid back length.. ugh.. I love AG FOUND this product 15 years ago when Nexxus versastyler was discontinued… I love you two! I’m in the middle of both of you!
Anyway your hair is fab. But I never realized how wonderful your skin is.
I have thin hair. Should I still section it off to style?
I am happy that I was able to watch this live
My question is this....
Is it wrong to leave the hair mask in your hair until your next wash day???
I loved everything about this!!!! Thank you seesters
@Mell....I love the Verb Curl Foaming gel. I tend to use a liquid gel to get more days out of my wash day. Has either of you tried the MIelle Organics Sea Moss line?
As for my ? What kind of oil should I use on my hair, it’s fine, dry,low porosity & thinning?
I love your videos, you are so gorgeous, I live in California and my step Dad bought a water softener for the house and our curls are looking so good
My email said the live will be at 2 pm but it was already over!
😢
I'm watching the replay!😊
You guys are awesome as always. What do you think of the curlwow products that people swear by? Thks!
11:24 : Amanda is putting on more cream to her trouble spot and Mel's reaction (maybe she put on too much?) is SENDING ME
verb ghost oil alternatives? 😊
I know you said in the video, but what is the highlight product you mentioned? Getting mine done next week.
Thank you for the denam brush idea love my brush
Have you tried the CurlSmith Full Body Thickening Lotion? I've had a lot of luck getting more volume with that on my thin strands. Now my hair is no longer see-through on day 1 hair.
Is it true that a cold water rinse helps define curls?
Awesome as usual!
What is the scalp serum that Amanda mentioned she uses during the winter?
Can you link the brushes and products you used?
yes they are in the description!
Tips/products for smoothing down frizz after diffusing??
Thanks for the video. Can you do a live in the evening?
Lolll i just watched ur video sayin u dont use the denman any moreee cmon maynee
It takes me 45+ minutes to diffuse my hair! I think y’all have sold me on the Dyson 😮
I need help my hair will look so good when I style it and then by the end of the days I have ropey curls that are like flat what could be the problem?
Can you use Ag recoil before Ag liquid effects for a lot of fine hair?
Have either of you ever tried using a diffon by bellissima? I just did and it is a lot better than my ghd air
