The lyrics are so evocative for french people but I think it is very visually lyrics as you said. I think a version of the early mornings in every capitals of the world would be funny to ear…
The story says that during the recording of the song, Jacques Dutronc met a friend Roger Bourdin, classical trained flutist, who was recording Bach music elsewhere in the same studio. He invited him in the recording booth and he recorded a fantastic improvised flute part over the song, only one take....
Now Dereck, you should react to Thomas Dutronc (Jacques' son) songs and his love for gypsie jazz. And Françoise Hardy (Jacques Dutronc's wife and Thomas's mother). Such a so gifted family !
Thanks a million. Huge song, an absolute masterpiece. Didn't know this bewitching live version that I love as much as the original version. It's rare cause I'm often disappointed by live renditions. Here the flute set is brilliant and Jacques' voice is powerful. A delight.
Hello Dereck, Jacques Dutronc is someone special in the French show business. He's married to Françoise Hardy, a very famous singer who had enormous success in Europe in the 60s / 70s and even in the United Kingdom, which is usually very cautious when it comes to non-English speaking artists. Jacques Dutronc is what we call an "offbeat" singer. He's a sort of French-style Dandy with equally quirky humor. Most of the lyrics of his songs are imbued with spirit, which is a little mocking, sometimes sour, or mixes zany and irony while remaining good-natured. He likes to bring up subjects that no one else does, or at least never that way. From a musical point of view, the same thing, it's mostly rock and sometimes jazz (rather "jazz-manouche" like in this title "Paris s'éveille"), in any case, for its most famous titles. Indeed, the peak of his career, it's instead the years 60/70 which we call "Les années Yé-Yé" (Frenchization of "Yeah, Yeah") in France, and which designates all the music of the pop, rock, folk vein of the time. Even if Dutronc managed to rank a few titles afterward like "Merde in France" ("Shit in France" a pun of "Made in France") or "L'opportuniste," he has instead remained in the shadows. He's not at all someone who was looking for starization, on the contrary. You'll understand better all what I mean with this comment if you decide to explore his repertoire a little more with us. I'm not offering you a specific title because I see that people have already done it before me. Peace! lyricstranslate.com/en/il-est-cinq-heures-paris-seveille-its-five-oclock-paris.html

Please listen to her....
There, I'm too tired, but I can assure you that this summer, I will walk along the beach with your t-shirt (holybananas, I do love this one!!!!)
With all my compliments and admiration, I embrace you.

I didn’t know this song, but I loved it and also your analysis. I’ll check this artist no doubt. I would love to see a “Derek reacts” to ‘Eloise’ by Tino Casal. I’m sure it would surprise you!
Jacques Dutronc is married to Françoise Hardy and have a son Thomas Dutronc all 3 are great French singers.
Dereck !
You should react to his son Thomas Dutronc. The song J'aime plus Paris makes a reference tovthis song
You really ought to listen to "Opium" from the same guy. It's a sailor song of which he made a cover.
'Place Dauphine' was named like that in honor to the future king Louis XIII, 'le dauphin'
'Le Dauphin' (the dolphin) was a title attributed, at his birth, to the elder son of the actual king of France.
Yes we can see, listen, smell and taste de Paris life in this song. But this life poco a poco is desepearing. So it's sounding like a nostalgy postal card..
The reaction of A second to midnight kylie minogue, for when 🙊😁
i hope Etre une femme, 1980 version from Michel Sardou !!!
Alors comme ça Dutronc te branche ?
Yeah I couldn't help...
The translation youve got isn't great. It's bakers make country bread. Also earlier in the song. Also cafés are cleaning up their Window, not ice cream
🥰
You should listen "les cactus" and "playboys" de Jacques Dutronc or "j'aime plus paris " de Thomas Dutronc
merci
No, no! Jacques is not pronounced jackass, but simply like Jacque without the final s. It is silent.
Other songs 😍
Les cactus
Salut Dereck
👍
