A day to look away from all that is difficult in life and just embrace the beauty of the day. It is not sappy and a song we really can't relate to, it IS relatable and it is honest which is why I truly love this song and why it always brings tears to my eyes. Freddie loved Christmas it was his favorite holiday, I think though he loved throwing parties and making a big thing of his friend's birthdays and such but Christmas, he got to embrace all of them at once and he seemed to just come alive at Christmas. This song is not ahead of its time, it is just reminding us that we are always living in difficult times and so far we have made it through each of those times and Christmas is a day to celebrate those achievements.
