Here in Belgium, this song is very often used during wedding ceremonies. I remember that at the moments of the Brussels’s attacks in 2016, Johnny Halliday sang this song as an hommage. He did the same a few months later when there was another attack in Nice.
"Ne me quitte pas" is his masterpiece for me.. When I was a kid, I couldn't watch him, I was scared, because of his big teeth, the sweat, the screaming.. He looked like a mad angry man! I couldn't get passed this. So only later, as an adult, I discovered the beauty of his performances. It's a pleasure to see them through your fresh eyes and ears, Dereck!
