It warms my heart that the younger generation are discovering tracks that back in the day we took advatage of and followed for years afterwards. Here in America the group never rose to the heights they should have, and to those who second guess their albums, they recorded no filler.
Midge Ure is an incredible artist. He sang with Thin Lizzy for a while, replacing Gary Moore, before committing to Ultravox as he planned. I can't think of an Ultravox song I don't love and his partnership with Steve Strange in Visage produced several amazing songs including Fade to Grey and the self titled Visage. A later release was a cover of the Zager and Evans classic In the Year 2525.
The live version of The Voice on the Monument Tour/ album is well worth a listen. They improve on perfection!! The Voice was a real live favourite for us fans at the time.
Ultravox are always remembered for Vienna but in my opinion The Voice full version is the record for me, from Chris's driving bass to Billy's ARP solos and Midges soaring vocals. I was there when it was played live at the Manchester Apollo in 1984 where it becomes another song totally with all the band playing the drums, please check out the Monument live version it will blow you away.
One of my favourites from Ultravox, who were my band of the 80s. Like so many of their songs it's just epic in scope and Midge Ure is one of the best vocalists of the 80s (still got it today as well).
Everybody has “that” group that inspires a quest…these guys were mine…albums that flowed from the first needle drop to the last note. The Return to Eden 40th concert is epic
There is a great alternative version of this by Midge Ure on his Orchestrated album and you should also check out Hymn, Lament, Dancing with Tears in my Eyes, Vienna and Death in the Afternoon from the same album.
Ultravox were my band at school ... My fav track is also from this album We Stand Alone. The voice is a great track played live, they all end up playing the drum solo from We Go off of Vienna Album. Lastly, give One Small Day a listen ... How the band should have gone, rather than the way they did .... would have still been around well into the 90s if they did! 😭
An underrated band but determinant about the New Wave (or Brit Pop in UK). This tune coming from the RAGE IN EDEN LP and the LP version is more interesting cause 6 minutes. U have electric violin, the ARP ODYSSEY synth, a real drum, double bass, a Lynn Drum 1. . .All the U Vox signature. This is the first tune of this marvellous album. As following to the VIENNA Lp it's the same level and quality. Listen to it u won't be disapointed ❤❤❤❤ Witch one between VIENNA and RAGE is better ? To hard for me to chose. My favorite 80's Brit Pop band ❤❤❤❤
If you haven't done it already, you must do their song Reap The Wild Wind next, it's my absolute favourite Ultravox song, followed by Loves Great Adventure.
Hi, Dereck. This song is nice, and this music video is an excellent production. Well, in 1980s, in my childhood, I remember that the music videos are usually great. Here, in Brazil, "music videos" are named "videoclipes". "Videoclipes" were a "fever" for yougesters which watching TV in these days. Initially, the "videoclipes' (music videos) were part of the "weekend" TV shows, mainly music videos presenting artists of English language countries, but some Brazilian artists too. Nowadays, all Brazilian artists have music videos. Ps. Someone know about a music video in which there is a wedding, but the bride is a skeleton. This image "marked" me, but I don't remeber the song and I don't remeber the artist, I remember that this video were great. If someone know about this, please tell me about, and I will verify if I can find this in TH-cam..
Please pick up “When The Scream Subsides” by ultravox. This is not single released song, but including great hot stuffs. If you listen this song, it makes you blown away so far.

The thin wall.... You'll love the video
Omg yes definitely The Thin Wall. My sister introduced this song to me back then and loved it ever since!
Hymn and Sleepwalk are my favourite Ultravox songs
Thank you - so great to see people still being touched by this music that was part of my youth.
It was such a privilege to see Ultravox live. This track especially so.
Midge has a greatly underrated voice
Great reaction 🤗 You just have to climb down into the Ultravox rabbit hole. Many great tunes down there...
Great reaction! "Hymn" is another gem from them, you should react to it!
Sheer brilliance 🎶
Always very distinctive in there sound.
Everybody has “that” group that inspires a quest…these guys were mine…albums that flowed from the first needle drop to the last note. The Return to Eden 40th concert is epic
Also...watch their performance during "Live aid" it's amazing...

Love the Orchestrated album, and I really love the reworking of this song and especially Dancing With Tears In My Eyes.
The Thin Wall, Hymn, All Stood Still are my favourites. For a album track it's I Remember.

Great choice Derek - the only one doing them
The thin wall and sleepwalk are also great bangers from Ultravox.
Sleepwalk. The video made live at st Alban's 1980
Loves Great Adventure is fun
They had a totally different sound on the first 3 albums before midge joined them. Alot more harsh but still good
I don‘t think that 80s song structure is simple. It sounds easy listening but it is because of it‘s great instrumentation and production.
They never did any single that wasn't superb. You'd probably like "Sleepwalk" for the great use of synth bass.
Great song, as are all their others.
Hey D....try "Love's Great Adventure", "Lament", "Hiroshima Mor Amor"....
Please pick up “When The Scream Subsides” by ultravox.
This is not single released song, but including great hot stuffs.
If you listen this song, it makes you blown away so far.
Indochine - Salômbo (Alice & June Tour à l'Opéra de Hanoï 2006)
Valerie Dore - get closer
You must listen to Vienna, you think his voice was great on 'the voice', you haven't heard anything yet.
Brill song
I'm giving you a song I think you'll love. Indochine - Le chant des cygnes.
Mano Negra: Out of Time Man. The most British song made by a non-British band.
Silmarils - Cours vite

Please, Please PLEASE!!! React to the live version of this from the Monument tour - it is 100% better than this version :)
Seen them in the Appollo, Glasgow. The ending blew the roof off.
Saw them at the Appollo, Glasgow in 84.The ending of the Voice blew the roof off.
