@@jobsgarage thanks for the heads up. Leakage really hadn't crossed my mind. The battery has been dead for quite a while now with no obvious issues. Powering up with the factory reset sequence leads to normal function every time.
I have a JMP-1. It is basically a distortion pedal in a rack, none of the distortion is 'tube' it's diode based. That may be an issue, maybe not. The clean channel is actually all tube and is basically a blackface fender circuit. You'd be better off selling a jmp-1 and buying a better pre than paying for a Voodoo mod, unless you love the midi and the switching.
Not exactly right, both channels use one tube each. Tube swapping can make quite a difference. I have used a JMP-1 for at least 20 years. I have never felt the need to get it modded. Just follow the JMP-1 with a BBE and then into a DSL FX return or one of Marshall's EL34 power amps. All the other guitar players that hear my rig say the same thing, "dam that sounds good, what are you using?"

I use the jmp-1 in the most interesting & unique way....using a series of pedals in the front input & a effects processor in the loop........& no one on this planet has a better set up.....its all tweeked & tricked out......using long guitar & power cable runs & variac's (set at different voltages)......most pedals are on....so it's well buffered.....lots of sag & harmonics.....best distortion sound & feel I ever experienced.......I'm a genius.....it only took 25 years (so many fuck ups & nervous breakdowns)......I'm too selfish to share my complete set-up & secrets........goodluck & ❤GOD❤ bless all 😁
I used to have one of those and ran my 9200 Monobloc through it. I never really did figure out how to use it. Confused the heck out of me. 😁
Strange, it's pretty straightforward and a 9200 or EL34 is a perfect match.
Too much hum and noise on that thing. Get under stage lights and that thing is a mess.
That Voodo mod isn't worth crap. I know a few how have it . All said not worth it.
The Voodoo JMP-1 mod has to be one of the most overpriced mods ever.
I agree and I have never seen a wie by side comparison… we are “assuming” it improves it.
There's a famous Swedish amp mod guy named Tommy Folkesson and his slogan is "This amp has got a new heart!" His JMP-1 mod costs 3400 SEK (about 333 USD) and sounds AMAZING! On his website he explains what the mod is and what it does. It's in Swedish, but you can google translate it fairly accurate.
@@MrGul that sounds awesome. I’ve seen a few vids of Marshall heads he modded and they sound amazing. Does he let people in the US send JMP-1’s in for the mod?
@@jakedibiase7404 I actually don't know for sure if he does, but I'm willing to bet that he does if you pay for the shipping costs. Another possibility could be to have it done with a Swedish acquaintance/middle-man, should Tommy for some reason refuse international shipping.
Horrible crunch tones
