Very interesting to watch this, especially because it came out so close to the Prem. I started watching the Prem 15 or so years ago, but lately I've fallen in love with the lower divisions, non-league teams and historical teams. It's great to hear about a time where football wasn't so commercialized. It feels like there was more of a connection with the fans in the past, which is why I like the lower divisions now. I was always a Chelsea fan but I've been following Notts County a lot lately, they feel so much more authentically immersed in English football tradition and I love it.
There was far more connection and the TV coverage was better. They let the players and more so the managers speak their mind. It wasn’t the bland punditland but full of real characters.
Thank you for this. Unlike the other comments, I don't know these voices and have only the vaguest recollection of their names. However, I absolutely loved the video.
So glad I found this. I had it on VHS many years ago and lost it. Thanks so much for the upload - much appreciated!
You are welcome. Bout it really cheap back in the day from WH Smith’s as I recall!
@@unclejacksbluewhitearmy I still have this on VHS! Great video.
@ glad I kept my copy too
Yes Football was invented before 1992
The peoples’ game back then.
I'm astonished. No records appear to exist of football prior to 1992.
16:12 I think VAR might have been looking at a possible handball by Ted Drake
Black & white VAR
Indeed they are. It shall be another 90 years before they return a verdict.

Thank you for this finest of footballing uploads. Also, Brian Moore and Bob Wilson, for me the VOICES of the early Champions League.
Nobody has ever bettered Moore

Glad you enjoyed it. It's good video and I'm glad I digitised the VHS tape that's been sat around for 30 years!
Bob Wilson the Arsenal goalkeeper and Brian Moore the commentator.
Thankyou very much for the upload. Love brian moore’s nostalgic voice
There was no better commentator
@@neilfitzgerald712 It's on my channel.
Marvellous video. Thank you.
You are welcome
What a gem I don't football before the premier league but this is a free history lesson thank you
ITV, which was regional then, had the best TV coverage ever in the 5 years before the Premier League started.
I love learning the history of the beautiful game ❤
It fascinates me even how the game has changed since documentaries like this were made.
A very Division 1 centric documentary. You can tell this was made on the run up to the Premier League being founded
Probably to sell more copies… like to me!
I miss old proper football.
This is like Ken burns football
I had this on VHS cassette.
It’s a good one!
Back when people could afford match day tickets! 😅
It was truly the peoples’ game back then.
4 years later they lose the top Division
nice upload great content worst intro tune known to man haha thanks dude
You are welcome. I agree the music is a stinker!
