I bought the 500GB version for $30 on Ebay. Definitely worth it for storage on the go. The only downside is when transferring large multiple files, the write speed drops a lot to 15-25mbps.
@@alex_ayers Sorry to hear that, man. I use mine to store music or movies. Definitely check out Samsung or SK Hynix SSDs for better performance on video editing.
@@Sorianobhs My buddy actually has one of my Samsung T7 500gb, and he took it across the country where he lived and now im on vacation trying to get it back 😂😂
UPDATE: This Onn 500GB Portable SSD is still going strong after owning it for a year. I also tested it to install PC games to play on my laptop and it worked very well. There's also a new Onn Ultra SSD which is 2000MB Read Speed. Hope to get that one day.
I have TWO different ONN SSD drives which have failed (PC no longer recognizes them). Both are 250GB. I only used both of them to transfer files from one PC to another. Good thing they were not used to store files. So there is obviously a big problem with these drives. I have a third 250GB ONN which is newer which thus far has not failed. I have other ONN PC peripheral items which work fine, BTW. I no longer buy ONN SSD ext. hard drives.
I purchased the 500 GB version of the ONN portable solid state drive. When I plug the drive into either of the USB 3.0 ports of my HP Pavilion HP 17-g121wm laptop, running Windows 10, the laptop makes a sound, as it does when its unplugged. Windows 10 is up to date except for Windows 10. Version 22H2. When I run Disk Management (diskmgmt), the ONN drive shows up as Disk1 with three partitions: 200 MB healthy (EFI system partition) 462.43 GB healthy (primary partition) 128mb (unallocated) How do I get a drive letter assigned to the ONN drive? Disk 0 is Windows (C:) HP TOOLS RECOVERY (D:)
Apologies for the late reply - in Disk Management, if you right-click on the respective partition, click on Change Drive Letter and Paths. That should bring up a dialog box allowing you to assign/change the assigned drive letter.
Purchased one of these - ran fine for about 5 days - then could not locate on Finder - attached via 5 different USB-C and USB-A cords and does not show up - gone into Disk Utility and still nothing - any ideas?
Yes, it should work well for games -- certainly a lot better than mechanical hard drives or other types of flash storage. Of course an internal PCIe NVMe SSD would be even faster, but most wouldn't really notice the difference.
@@Gingy710 It'll work great, but you can get a 2TB seagate slim plus HDD for cheaper and will hold more old games. for old games like that you wont notice the difference in load times between them the console is a beast.
Yes and it will increase performance a lot. It will take a lot of the work off the internal HDD and you will notice a huge decrease in load times on games. The internal HDD is only SATA 2 and the usb ports on xbox support faster speeds than the sata HDD

Thank you - much appreciated!
Thank You. I agree. I picked my new 500GB on clearance at WMT for $35!
Thank you for this review. I saw a 1 TB version of this ONN SSD on sale. I think i may get it for my PS5.
Great and accurate review. Thank you.

It also works well enough with linux, at least on their mint os
