best physio content that is out there. I can really recommend the interactive platform that David is offering, it has brought my understanding of boiomechanics and training onto the next level!
Man, honestly, I think this is your best content presentation format. Value the content a ton man, thanks for always helping me grow. I actually start looking forward to Fridays because I know I’ll learn something useful
I like the longer videos and this kind of layout! I like that you have time to give some context around the topic vs instagram. Question - for a true hip lock (Frans Bosch), do you need to go into some hip abduction on the stance leg? I've always been confused by that. Or is it just hip extension with everything co-contracted?
This such a good and (for me) timely video, thank you! Literally just gave up on couch stretch this morning, as the only thing it ever seems to give me is an inflamed tendon. Swapped them for a short stance split squat ISO that felt amazing in comparison.
100% love all of your content & programs. Really loving the style of these vids - rich with incredible info - really appreciate the extra info regarding fitting them into programming. Thank you!
This is gold! Absorbing as much information as possible from these yt videos as almost all of my athletes have some kind of issue with one/multiple joints. Will definitely try the first one out!
Great content, really enjoying the style of your last few videos. Would be interested to see how you're tackling lack of internal/external rotation at the hip too 👍🏻
Just trying to be consistent with it. It has taken me several years to get to this stage! If you are just starting out then just pick an amount that you can deliver consistently and without it feeling like a huge chore. Thank you mate 🙏
Really great! Short, digestable and actionable! Through the lens of my running, this makes a heap of sense. Looking at this through an Irish Dancer Lens, for the kids I teach, would you say that this increases their range of motion for front clicks? Clearly they would need hamstring flexibility/mobility to get the legs up but opening the hips reduces the reliance on flexible hamstrings, and shares the load, would you agree?
Yeah I think that’s a pretty reasonable thought process. Obviously dancing itself should open up a lot of flexibility but moves like these can help bridge the gap! Glad you enjoyed the video 🙏
David, I have learned so freaking much from you. 🙏 if you have an older patient with a lot of stiffness, do you go after ROM in a certain order? Ie hip ER before hip IR, and hip IR before hip extension? Is this train of thought useful or overthinking?
Really great video and really like the more dynamic progressions on the first exercise, will be incorporating these for my athletes. I find people can actually engage their glute on these variations which most struggle with a on couch stretch like you said, Rec Fems are so tight it's a good stretch, but not for hip extension. Like this conversational style too, you do it really well!
"It's kind of a disgusting stretch" - Thank you, David, for articulating about the couch stretch what I've known in my heart for so long!!! LOVE your alternatives!
THis makes so much more sense than the couch stretch. Thank you. Any thoughts in using this or a modified version of this in older patients, especially those with shuffling type gait? I would think this might lengthen their gait pretty nicely. Any contraindication in someone with a glute med/min tear?
My rec fem is crazy tight, (my couch stretch looks like what you demo'd). But I have decent pure hip extension. Would the couch stretch be okay if I ensure I keep my spine stacked, or would you recommend something different for a rec fem focussed stretch? Great vid (subscribed)!
Try the split squat that I showed. That will be a great option because you can start from the top and collect the stretch on the way down. Let me know how it goes mate
I think you’re missing a trick not including more sandwich buying hacks as per the pod. Seriously though, great content David. I’m really enjoying it and gaining a lot from it.
It would be incredible to see a video on pubic symphysis pain. I understand it's a relatively common phenomena for pregnant women, but I haven't seen it discussed much with respect to male athletes. Quite reliably, if I go for a long walk or do any activity which has me on my feet for more than 30 minutes I experience very strong/weird pubic symphysis pain if I suddenly change direction/stance or simply stand still, glue my feet to the floor and try to aDduct my feet together. Thank you very much
If you were having knee problems and feel like your rec fem is part of the problem, then a couch stretch might be a good option. But it’s really not a great option for improving hip extension.
@@DavidGreyRehab I've been thinnking about this and there's not an easy answer. Partialy because, at any one time, I view content with a particular mindest. Or my mood has been set by the last piece of content watched. This time round I wanted to be entertained as well as informed. So setting a piece of equipment on fire or crashing a car would have earned maximum puddings. But also I really like your personality. This has a chance to come out on podcasts (loved the Tim Rilley one but your solo ones are great also). This, I would guess, is super difficult to achieve on short format, information driven, TH-cam content and so, by comparison to your podcasts, feels a little 2 dimensional. But still great.
Any questions, questions or feedback/advice on the content style, I would honestly love to hear it.
Great vid David! Looking good 👌
Amazing David. Thank you for sharing valuable insights 🙏🏻
How do you keep your spine long without having one side potentially being in extension

you need to get the pelvis higher on the swing side - which is technically going to be hip abduction.
That’s definitely a key part of it!
Really like the bite size format and love the stretch you get from both of these exercises.
Thanks Dan! They are actually nice stretches compared to the coach stretch
Format: fantastic. Content: excellent. Thanks for doing what you do!

Split squat with 0 shin angle is in LBB I believe? And the Enda King groin study.
I love it!
Yep it’s in LBB. Not sure about the Enda King study, will have to check.
