When I was a young Sailor in the 1980s on my first Submarine my first Maneuvering watch post was Bridge JA Phone Talker. We essentially related every order passed from the Bridge (top of the Sail) to the Conn for speed and course changes as we navigated. We were out of the old Charleston Naval Base back then. Navigating the Cooper River in and out was a bit tricky due to the nearly non stop dredging operations, the old Cooper River bridge and the currents / tides. It was a blast!
I just want to say how much I respect your position. I was actually on the "Holiday" sailing. And, my birthday is NYE, also. I had the time of my life on the Holiday sailing. Your announcements are awesome! Thank you, for being such a great Captain! So much respect for you!
What an amazing life! It's a lot of work, first one to wake up, last one to call it quits, but if you like what you do, it's a dream come true. I understand the passion.
Thanks for sharing the vids and the experience. I miss maneuvering a ship. Yours huge compared to the Navy ships I was able to conn. Then again, you have more things to use to maneuver, azipods, thrusters, better bridge wings. I make up for it a bit with our 49' yacht. 🙂 David
