- Paul Oakenfold became the first ever DJ to play at Stonehenge. The set was recorded and will come out as an album titled 'Live At Stonehenge'. After sunset Carl Cox joined him for a special back-to-back set....
He played to just 50 people at the show, which was presented by Alon Shulman's Universe, the brand behind the legendary Tribal Gathering festival.
On playing there, Oakenfold said: “I am so lucky to be able to share my music from such an iconic site. The energy here is like nowhere else on earth, and this is reflected in my music."
"Despite having performed at incredible events and locations all across the globe, sunset at Stonehenge is by far the most magical moment to have the privilege to experience.”
Alon Shulman said: “Together, Paul and I wanted to create something completely unique. Being known for our ground-breaking performances and collaborations it is fitting that our first special moment takes place at Stonehenge”.
The event is part of a new series by Universe called Origins, which "incorporates music, film and performance alongside incredible production."
Proceeds from the 'Live At Stonehenge' album will go to English Heritage.

30 years plus has passed since I first had the pleasure of my first raves / events with these guys .and a whole bunch of others the list is endless .. all around the UK , wow what a chase and race to experience all the clubs and the fantastic people I met through dance music .. Unfortunately i don't think any other generation will get to see hear experience what we had . sometimes its good to be old ... er
If you like trance or techno or deep whatever you want to call it Oakey and Carl Cox are World Class been listening to them since late 90s. This is brilliant

This must have took months of serious negotiations with English Heritage to be allowed to put this on, makes a massive change from 1992!!! BIG RESPECT, an amazing event. Lucky lucky 50 people who were there.

I saw Carl Cox for the first time 18 years ago at an event in SF, I think at Cow Palace. Took me until 2016 to see Oakenfold but happy to see them both still out here making magic. Incredible.

Ahh yeah good call, The Dj Kid Darkside set is one of my fav sets of all time, The prodigy played a decent set there too, but they were mighty pi@@ed off at the rubbish sound system !!(although don't think Universe were to blame, more like council)

Looking forward to hearing Oakey in Nashville, Tennssee on June 28th 2019. I've been a big fan ever since I heard his Tranceport mix which I argue is the greatest Trance mix ever.
Try his mix at Creamfields 99, mixing leaves a lot to be desired but the tune selection is the best you'll ever hear.

Dispite the magnitude of this duo at this place, they both look so casual, chatting and just hanging with the few people there. Not a bad take, but would have also loved to see them go mad on the equipment, getting more manual and creative than just transitioning.
Marco Galvez imagine what 500 dirty and careless and entitled humans who paid $300 per ticked would have done to the place. This is why it was just them. IMO.

No one knows who they were, or what they were doin'. Denon vs Pioneer. Two men enter, one man leaves. Arthur Pendragon weeps behind the barbed wire next to the heel stone. If you look closely you can actually see the shark they were jumping. Out-Cercling Cercle. Christ on a stick. Still, it was nice that Oaky and Coxy could have a good chat while they tried to keep warm. And a few guys on radio headphones shuffled and waggled a lightstick in the middle. The most amazing thing about this is that English Heritage relaxed their sphincter enough to let them do it. (and keep the henge byways open, mofos).
No other great artists have done it...

I don't think this was meant to be anything other than a small listening party of sorts at a historic site. And so, as not to violate any noise statutes, they geared everyone up in headphones. Wasn't ever meant to be some high energy, full on festival. Just an opp to be the first to play there. Just a guess... Soothing tunes tho🤔🙂
