When Rita first started playing trombone at the Sant Andreu Jazz Band she was encouraged (by Toni Belenguer?) to use a fake note "fat" sound on jazzier pieces (check out 2014 Moanin'). Thing is her ear is so good, her sense of pitch uncanny, that lip tension and slide position are perfect right at the start of sound production. "Fat sounds" aren't needed as a cover for approximate execution, like her contemporaries (2017 Abril Sauri Lover Come back to Me, contrast Codina and Payes solos and her very measured, purely intentional, fatness.) Since 2016 when she got her Kuehnl & Hoyer her Trombone has become a second voice as beguiling, flexible and intimate as her own. Singing so informs her playing, so informs her singing. (Por Una Cabeza with MARO 2021).
@@Slidefunk Yes it appears I was wrong. Thank you. Someone already corrected me after contacting K&H directly. They told him that Rita's Trombone was the Bart van Lier 500. I have seemingly spread misinformation in a few places I can't recall. If you ever encounter more wrong posts before me please post a correction. In case you are interested "Rita Payes, Ben van Dijk" is worth a search, as is "Rita Payes, Tiny Desk".
Well I don’t think she’s offering any up hear worth of any great interest….. I’ve absolutely no idea how haunting as a word applies in any way. Banal might though
Bravo, Rita, eso es lo que yo llamo un solo conscientemente elaborado...🌹😃👌👏👏👏👏👏👏
Wonderful trombone solo !
She uses the range of the in such a musical way - rather than just showing off. So tasteful 😊
Yep. Truly great. RP has astonishing emotional power available to her.

Wow 😯
Beautiful. What brand/type of trombone does Rita play, please. Bass trombone? It seems to have a large bore. Awesome dark sound. I want one!
Her trombone is a Kuhnl & Hoyer tenor, but I don't know the spec!
@@RobEgertonJazzTranscriptions Kühnl & Hoyer Bart van Lier . 480/88" MKII BZ.
@@fliprim I would disagree, the .480/88 doesn't have the curved thumb grip on the bell cross-brace.

It’s really just a lot of nothing
You comment nothing but negative stuff on this channel. What pleases you? Not much, it seems.
