Our drive up the coast of California stops in Morro Bay

- Our last stop, for this trip west, on the west coast and man, what a stop… Morro Bay State Beach. Where we saw the most spectacular sunsets of our lifetime. We drove a little further north so we could take in the Elephant Seals on the coast, and whew… they are big, beautiful and lazy. It was a blast to just stand there and watch them napping and hunting and playing. Then it was on to Harmony, CA… population 18… they’re famous for their creamery and the ice cream was the icing on the cake for this stop.

Thanks for another slice of life from both of you and Miss Maggie. It is nice to slow down and just take in the view, almost smelling the salt air! Just a few minutes of that is good for calming your mind and soothing any ruffled feathers you may have. I just got back from our Family Gathering in Josephine, AL where we rented a large beach house for almost a week. We fished, boiled shrimp and sausage out in the back yard, walked in Arnica Bay and watched sailboats, barges, dolphins swimming and just having a fine time. We shared fun meals, made charcuterie boards, swapped family history and, of course, made many, many memories. It was all documented with 5 bazillion pictures! It was good to gather as a family, marvel at the Strawberry Moon and be grateful for each other as we build ties of love that bind us together as a family. Looking forward to your next installment!

Loved the this video. This is a great and beautiful part of California. Loved seeing the birds by the ocean and Maggie loving it. The seals they have quite the life. The ice cram looked good. Kudos for capturing the magic of Morro Bay. Your images and music were masterfully edited together. We were there last fall and camped at the same state park. The mood of your posting really portrays the essence of how peaceful it is, and how special. I have never seen so many bird feathers on the ground as were under those eucalyptus tree, all white egret feathers, covered with dew in the mornings.

Hwy 1 is one of my favorite drives. My Mothers ashes were spread near Morro Bay within view of the Ocean.

Had to watch this video twice, have not visited the coast (and family) in a long time. They head to the coast when the heat is unbearable for a nice cool down. What a great time seeing the sights. Well, from the East coast to southern coast to the west coast and Alaska. That’s a lot of driving miles, what’s on your radar screen next? I love being along on your vacations, even if it’s after the fact,and cannot wait for the next adventure. Until then, Happy Fathers Day Owen and don’t forget, you may be the Captain of that land yacht but without that Navigator and First Mate, you’re just another guy doing van life LOL.

Well, some encouraging words about fuel prices. Our daughter was in Chico, Ca and enrolled in college there, she was in her late 20’s. For Civil Engineering. She asked me if she graduated if we would show up....well of course we would. Four years later, she graduated with her Bachelors degree and we made preps to be there. Unfortunately, fuel prices for diesel shotgun and $5.00 a gallon was the norm. Sorry to have to pay it but was not going to break a promise, that girl worked her butt off.
So we hitched up the 25 ft fifth wheel to the 2001 F250 superduty in May and our road trip was on. What is the price to pay for regrets? It is dearly. A couple grand later, it was so worth it. There was a lot in-between too,; visiting the relatives, Helping her move to Oregon, Crater Lake gifthouse under 30 feet of snow and more. Our last big trip before John’s stroke and it has never been the same. So do Not live with maybes, or somedays. Live with No Regrets. 😎
We’ve been up and down the PCH & 101 a few times we refer to it as the terrifyingly beautiful drive. This is a nice video and we loved the music
BTW, we watched the Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road documentary on PBS last night and there are a couple shots of him driving the PCH it was kinda cool knowing we’ve both been down the same stretch of road.
We’ll have to check the documentary, we love watching things like that. Thanks for sharing.

I love highway 1. I worked in Eureka and my husband was working in Ft. Bragg, so I drove over the mountains and through the woods once or twice a week. I never stopped being amazed as I came out of the woods and around the curve to Bam! the ocean below the cliffs. Many beautiful sunsets. I’m glad you got to experience some of it.🌞

MORRO ROCK, Morro Bay is famous for their 3 stacks and rock, not sure the video showed the 3 stacks ..Morro Bay is a nice quaint relaxing beach town
