Good tips, especially the aperances tip. As strange as it seems, a lot of people really do think your making the music as your playing. When.. Nah, most of the time you are just playing the song. When I learned that this was the case years back, it kind of left me crestfallen. But, when I started DJing myself, I started to understand that your creating a vibe. So why break the magic? Now the real challenge is to go back to the old days and try to find ways song's could work together outside of there respective transitions. Like Mashups, like the one you did with stampuhh.
i have not been able to watch the full tutorial yet... but the removal of the sub base when mixing is genius. I've been looking for tutorials like this for years. awesome.
I've started watching this, very well explained. I even started counting the beats when you started with 1. I also am someone that knows how to produce but can't use dj decks 🤣 it might be that time.
A very nice tutorial for mixing, but I think you could do it better by zooming into the rekordbox small screen and place it to the video top left or right for your viewer to see the bars
Amazing tips, this will be handy in terms of figuring out how to mix hardstyle (or just hardcore) with other techno sub generes, like hard techno, schranz, or industrial, because those tracks are between 145 and 160bpm
Thanks, great video. Just some tips for next videos. Light the faceplate of the Controller a bit better so people see what functions you use. Imbed the Screen onto the video.
Maybe a Question out of context but im interessted in ypu lighting 😂 what are you using in this example? Is this pre programmed or is there a good software for auto sound detection? 😇
best tips video ive seen for hardstyle, never understood what the counting to 16 thing was, i wondered why my mix sounded so shite when I counted 16 seconds XD
I'm willing to teach most basics, but over the years I've backed off from my signature sounds/way of working... Due to people blatantly copying everything, instead of taking the lessons in and making it their own. I don't say everyone does, but some do, which results in other 'artists' saturating the scene with my sound...
I love that your showing all of the "secrets" and not shying away from everything wink wink ha ha but so you not think a good idea would be to mix a set and or album in the style of hardcore. Layering tracks with bass if that makes sense. I hope it does ha
Thank you Atmozfears... And I swear I'll try that I never put the CUE Button if an actually track play on the same cdj when I play a b2b😁😁🙈🙈really cool introsuction
Nice, lots of great information provided Tim but I need to point out one thing. There's not much light in the room so people that have never seen an actual controller don't know what the fuck you pointing at or what you doing cause they can't see it. :D
thanks this would be really helpful. djing has always been something i wanted to try out, i bought a deck last christmas but i was too confused but now that i have your tutorial i might actually be able to learn :D
Yeah back when we were playing records on vinyl we could mix for 2 to 3 mins etc on some tracks and beat juggle from the tracks a couple of time's to max the mix longer nice lesson for beginners fella respect :)
You mean Equip? One of the best starting gear is the DDJ 400 from Pioneer. Kinda Cheap but got the same Layout as all the club standard layout. Rekordbox is included as well (:
@@Atmozfears My man still responded💪🏻, in these 5 months I have bought a ddj 400 and already played my first set in front of some people. This vid really helpt me man!
Most pioneer mixers have a built in limiter, and almost every sound system in the world has compressors/limiters before sending signal out to amps / speakers. Don't worry too much about it, but don't go OVER the red lines.
@@Atmozfears thanks for response from yourself haha! btw. the story about frying the speakers was real anecdote from my DJ friend that's that I was scared lol
I absolutely love hardstyle and respect your productions (and sets...... Defqon 2015) but I will say as a bed room dj who only djs for fun please mix another genre as the 150 bpm structure gets so boring very quickly
Mandy should watch this
this dude is too humble. i've seen him live and it was fucking fantastic
I like the flangelerlr
Had some experience before but never expected to learn that lot by watching this. That’s for the tutorial Tim ❤️
Very enjoyable and informative video!
I learned a lot and hope this will be useful in the future for me.

thats whats you are supposed to do when you mix? and they show it in all tutorials on youtube?

Nice tutorial
Awesome video for beginnners. I would like to see the advanced stuff too!
Thx for your insight!
On 16:05 is it just the echo + the pitch up to create that build up effect? I tried so many things but I can't get it like this haha
It’s echo, put on 1/16beat ~23ms, and turn the knob down to 1ms to get that sound.
@@twanm Is this also possible on the DDJ-400? I cant figure out how to do it
@@peter2598 it should be, put on echo. And then the length of the effect to 1ms
@@twanm Thats the problem, the smallest length i can get with the ddj-400 is 1/16 because it doesnt have a knob for it
@@peter2598 can’t you adjust the value in rekordbox itself?
Really good video, even for someone who is already experienced in this topic :) Thank you

you gotta buy the masterclass
