I adore FFXIV so much, each expansion is so perfect.
There's something about Stormblood, man. I dunno just what it is, but whenever I look back at the Pre-Endwalker content and think about which expansion is my favorite, I remember it the most fondly. There's just something about the events that happened in it and the OST that just hits differently from the rest of the game so far whenever I recall/listen to them. It feels like nostalgia, but I've started playing since last May and I did ARR-ShB pretty much back to back with all their side content throughout several months, so it's weird. But I guess if I can't come up with a definitive answer myself, I guess I just have to go by this? I dunno, I just love the game in general lol.
I feel like I understand what you mean. This expansion felt the largest and the most life changing up until Endwalker. I won't lie and say I wasn't also glad to be done with it. There were amazing moments, so many breakthroughs, and then also some times when it felt a bit dull. You always feel very powerful and in control during Stormblood in my opinion. Same with ARR. HW, ShB, and EW really pull that sense of control and power away from you. It's like yeah you're strong and you're the Warrior of Light but here's an insurmountable scenario from beginning to end that's been out of control since long before your time.
The atmosphere, the music and the down to earth story is what gets me. Also I have lots of memories from meeting new friends and spending lots of time with my now gf in the shirogane area.
I started playing this game when stormblood released so it’s nostalgic for me this music. Wish I had started playing the game as a day 1 player.
Been playing since heavenward, and even storm blood music still gives me shivers of nostalgia. I think it's the pleasant memories of content, friends, the story, etc of the expansion in combination with just fantastic music that never gets old
Pray return to the waking sands...
Just teleport to Horizon and walk to the Waking Sands 700 times and you will have experienced 2.X.

Stormblood to me is the weakest expansion and 2nd weakest portion of the game behind the 2.1-2.5 section. There are a few musical pieces that stand out, but Lyse was boring with a bad voice actress. In the end, I suffer thru SB to get to ShB.
I got back to 1.0 days, and going from 1.0 to ARR to HW was fantastic progression. Seeing the reversion at SB hurt.
That said, the 24-man and 8-man raids, along with the post SB patches, are stellar.
Apart from the obvious effort to record and mix all of these soundtracks and videos: That you included a video from the top of the Shiokaze Holstery shows how much dedication was put into this project. :D

I mean, Shadowbringers and Endwalker music definitely claps, but this xpac I have the most attachment to musically. The themes are just so catchy.

yeah Stormblood is great, everyone is just hyping up Heavensward and Shadowbringers around it sooo much that it "disappears" next to them :-/
@@DragonstarDT TBH Shadowbringers is just the best storytelling in gaming I've seen since the likes of Planescape: Torment or NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer. Stormblood is a very, very close second however...it certainly has the best sountrack in FF14 so far. Heavensward close behind but each expac somehow ends up being better than the last (currently reeling from Shadowbringers conclusion so not quite ready to start Endwalker yet...that was one heck of a wild ride...)

This is a year late, but in case someone else is wondering the same thing I think it's the Greatsword of the Crimson Lotus (at least best I can tell)
Stormblood was great because you then realize you weren't going to get a bait and switch expansion.
They used part of this tune for FFVXI. Maybe a tribute to FFXIV (I am referring to the first one).
The themes are a different piece of the same musical suite, these are apparent on all Final Fantasy titles

Yeah, same. So many writng issues and too much power-creep. Makes one yearn for the simpler stories. X)
Have your sins been forgiven today and forever? Think about this. The God of the bible, the One True God made us to worship him, obey him, and enjoy him forever. We break His laws daily by not putting Him first, not thanking Him like we should, we lie, we lust, we have sex before marriage, we dishonor our parents, we covet things other people have, we take God's name and use it in vain, we use it in a low manner, sometimes as a cuss word, (God is holy and even His name is holy), we don't love like we should, etc. In doing so we're saying He's not a good provider, He's a liar, He's untrustworthy, He's not worthy of praise. All these things and more are counted against us. The bible says God is the just judge of the world and one day He will settle the score for all the wrong we've done. God is holy meaning He is righteous (morally perfect in thought, word, and deed) It also means He is set apart and higher than us. God being good, must punish all sin or wrong doing in the world. This means that if you sin one time God will cast you in hell for eternity. Because He is good and He doesn't turn a blind eye to sin. But there is good news. 2000 years ago Jesus the Son of God came into this world and lived a perfect life ( He never sinned once) and He died on the cross taking the wrath that we deserve and paid the penalty for the sins we committed. The bible says that if you will repent (confess and forsake your sins) and trust in what Christ did on the cross (He took the wrath of God that was meant for you and I) then all your sins will be forgiven and when you die you will be in heaven with God and all who believe for eternity. Jesus died and on the third day He rose from the grave. Get right with God today don't wait. Once you die after that comes the judgement. Hebrews 9:27 It's the most important thing you can do. You must be born again John 3:7 If you repent and trust in what Christ did on the cross it shows that you've been born again or born spiritually. Right now you're dead in your sins and you can't see the beauty of Jesus Christ but after you trust in Christ all the things you hate about God like obeying him, serving Him, loving Him and others, reading the bible, praying and going to church you will love to do those things because God changes your heart. That's how you know you have been born again and forgiven. Please think long about this and ask me any questions you have as this is the most important thing you can ever think of in your life. An eternity in hell (darkness and a lake of fire the bible describes it, with weeping and gnashing of teeth) or an eternity out of that place and into the loving arms of God who is infinitely glorious, has infinite knowledge and has infinite power to do all that He pleases. @@Lord_Sunday Is there anything on Earth you like? Music? Nature? Food? Imagination? The stars? Good friends? The same God who made those things also made Heaven and His ability to create new pleasures and places you've never experienced is infinite. Precisely the opposite of boring.
All of us have sinned; this is where all evil comes from in our world. Christ provides the covering for our sin if we ask for this and our final destination, then, isn't Heaven, but a New Earth, a reborn universe without sin, death, evil, or suffering. That strikes me as far more interesting than the slow, heat-death of the universe.
These ideas might seem out of place in the comments for FF music, but then one realizes that one loves fantasy because one desire the elements of the fantastic to be real. We long for good to triumph over evil, for supernatural powers, monsters, ethereal creatures, and for vast, beautiful cities and exotic environments to explore. I submit that this is not a longing for things that do not exist, but an innate longing in humanity for things that HAVE existed in the past, things lost, and things that WILL be regained.
