Joseph Delahunty Not exactly. They’re not really descendants of dragons, they were originally created by the draconic gods to be servants for dragons. They were made from dragon eggs tho, so they’re sort of artificial descendants I guess?
As far as I know Toad that's 4E lore stuff. In 5E you literally pick your flavour out of the typical chromatic and metallic dragons. Dragonborn were simply called half-dragons in 3E and it took a template instead of a typical stat block. On top of that Draconians from the Dragonlance setting have their own sidebar. Edit: On top of all that Arthur Aguefort effectively polymorphed him into a Dragonborn. So the tail thing is largely inconsequential. I tend to imagine my Dragonborn PCs as having a tail. The OPs assertion that a horde of gold has much more relevance to full on dragons carries far more weight.

Seacaster Manor was just so incredibly brilliant, he knew exactly how to play out the scene even though the circumstances were decided by several dice rolls and Lou's decision

The fact that there is a teddy bear implies that at some point in the history of Spyre there was a fantasy version of Theodore Roosevelt and quite frankly I'm insanely intrigued by what that is
In an earlier episode they referenced a Salisbury steak being served in the cafeteria. That cut of meat was actually made and named that as part of a diet idea. This was mentioned on the medical history podcast Sawbones. Did someone have this really specific idea about which cuts of meat were healthier in this world?
Well, I mean, Theodore Roosevelt was such an enormously wild figure and individual who wasn't completely unlike Bill Seacaster in a way. So, kind of would extremely fit in here.

it's a small moment but what really made me emotional was Brennan allowing Lou to reroll at 1:47:15 it's such a nice act of compassion from DM to player that must've meant so much in the moment, despite the fact that the next roll failed.
lou was the only one to reroll and take extra damage, the only one to make a choice between parents and the only one to receive permanent disfiguration. he already knew that roll must've been low and was preparing for the worst, and brennan knew that and wanted to give him some mercy while he could

Gorguks mom and dad not only being the safest, but also the most narratively terrifying parents just from how terrifyingly capable they are with how astonishingly positive they are, explains why Gorguk is the most combat capable member of the group every encounter.
Gorgug isn't capable in combat because of his parents, he's capable because he's a super strong barbarian. That's basically the whole point of the class. No matter what his parents were like, as long as he's a barbarian with high strength, he'll be a beast

@@matthewoconnor9513 You're right! He mentioned that on the Newcomers podcast! And probably elsewhere of course bc that was recent but that was the first point of me being introduced to him.

Imagining Brennan, sitting there with his little handouts, all set for the big reveal, and one of the first things the party does is call the Vice Principal from the jail cell...
this is the first time i've cried during this series. bill's death was genuinely heartbreaking. we watch everybody else's families survive, only for fabian's to be saved for last. he rushes to save his mother because he knows his father can handle himself and would want him to go to her. he loses an eye just like bill. he tries to get to his father and fails and when he does manage to get to him, he's dying, and that smile on lou's face is most certainly him realizing that yes, william seacaster, father of fabian seacaster, is going to die. there's no goodbye, there's just jovial conversation, recognition, and bill going out in a fantastic blaze of glory. an epic closing shot with all the gusto and theatrics the seacaster family deserves. and all of this preceded by a heartfelt message from fabian's dad before he finds him bleeding out... so powerful. they all did such a great job with this series, the characters are amazing and the plot is so compelling, so enthralling. 👏😭
Seeing how invested Lou was in all the other player's stories and how emotional he was getting and then him ending up with the worst lot is. Heartbreaking. I felt for him so badly but he handled it really well. What a fucking moment! Also bawled my eyes out seeing Fig apologise to her mum.
Oh yeah, Fabian's thread was by far the most epic. Him losing an eye was such an iconic moment, and him bringing to a valiant end the tale of Bill Seacaster made me cry, not just out of sorrow, but out of pride. The imagery of him leaping from the explosion on the balcony, catching the Seacaster family sabre, and landing on The Hangman has got to be by far the coolest moment I've ever witnessed in any D&D session ever.
Lou has talked before about that getting very emotionally invested in campaigns, so that makes sense. Something similar happens in the first season of the unsleeping city
This is forever marked as one of the pinnacle moments of DnD to me. Lou's growing meltdown as Brennan reveals the stakes is something to behold - and when Lou, realizing he was saved for last, and definitely understanding he must have had two low rolls so something horrible will happen to his father... it's intense. But what a way to go.
1:28:32 major props to fig's mom she just woke up from being unconscious, grabbed a bow, and shot two people without a second thought, coughed a bit then turned to her seemingly uninjured daughter and immediately jumped to "are you okay?" despite having literally just been unconscious. I hope she isn't a villainy character or something later because that would be super sad
"Seemingly uninjured daughter" Fig *did* have to give up half her hitpoints and a good number of spells to get to that point, so it's safe to say she was pretty injured. Either Emily forgot about that, or, as Fig, was trying to play it down when she said she was fine.
Hot damn, I've long been spoiled about Goldenhoard's villain turn, but the fact that I'm this deep into the season and Brennan has kept him as a largely sympathetic figure is amazing to me
from the later clips i've seen i thought that aguefort was going to turn out the not-actually-dead bad guy and goldenhoard was going to help them against him. the moment of "holy shit" i had at that revelation was insane

It was so fun Brennan gave him that task even if his investigate roll wasn’t the highest in that group, cause he knew Murph as a player would be the one to figure that out and I enjoyed that a lot.
@@kirvanpody I think it was more for Riz's character arc than anything. Riz started as the one investigating the missing girl(s) not knowing it was a piece of the larger story. The party chased the whole mystery down together each with different realizations, but brennan gave murph those papers so that Riz could "crack the case."
I went back on your suggestion and you're right. It's a beautiful moment to witness. The frustrating and curious story unfolding in front of Murph. Watching him suddenly take focus and realize he himself just found a disparity and got a giant clue. The shear look of joy and sense of personal triumph Murph displayed was beautiful. i think also this is a case of him being excellent at picking up on brennan’s cues and knowing what needs to happen, and allowing the story to go there. brennan leaving him for last after all the other parents survived, saying “you’ve picked your mom,” “he’s making death saving throws” and allowing bill the poetic, full-circle speech… brennan gave lou the choice on how bill was going to die and trusted lou would let him, and then he did. just so so good all around.

Bro that's so fucking galaxy brain omg
Also he has a tail dragon borns don't have tails
Joseph Delahunty Not exactly. They’re not really descendants of dragons, they were originally created by the draconic gods to be servants for dragons. They were made from dragon eggs tho, so they’re sort of artificial descendants I guess?
@@ToadSageSannin also there from a different dimension where the primordials won the war with the gods so the dragon empire never collapse

@@GreetingsInferiorsFabian isn’t immortal, half-elves live longer than humans but not as long as elves. Which is kinda fucked up if you think about it because imagine being the elf parent.
Imagining Brennan, sitting there with his little handouts, all set for the big reveal, and one of the first things the party does is call the Vice Principal from the jail cell...
Shit. I just realized how that must have felt. Poker face of a God damn demon.
"You cant just be a THING that lies around my house!!"
I died y'all
" *MY* house"! He definitely knew
the nads he had in his entire battle was awesome
@@daniellins4114 oh yeah nah the moment Brennan makes him choose he knows Bill is dead
@@rydertheashen1722 - I think it was the moment Bill Seacastle's recorded message playing that he knew Bill was dead.
this is the first time i've cried during this series. bill's death was genuinely heartbreaking. we watch everybody else's families survive, only for fabian's to be saved for last. he rushes to save his mother because he knows his father can handle himself and would want him to go to her. he loses an eye just like bill. he tries to get to his father and fails and when he does manage to get to him, he's dying, and that smile on lou's face is most certainly him realizing that yes, william seacaster, father of fabian seacaster, is going to die. there's no goodbye, there's just jovial conversation, recognition, and bill going out in a fantastic blaze of glory. an epic closing shot with all the gusto and theatrics the seacaster family deserves. and all of this preceded by a heartfelt message from fabian's dad before he finds him bleeding out... so powerful. they all did such a great job with this series, the characters are amazing and the plot is so compelling, so enthralling. 👏😭
Seeing how invested Lou was in all the other player's stories and how emotional he was getting and then him ending up with the worst lot is. Heartbreaking. I felt for him so badly but he handled it really well. What a fucking moment! Also bawled my eyes out seeing Fig apologise to her mum.
Fabian had the best ending thematically. Bill would have wanted that ending
@@rikimaru700 oh 100% Bill would've wanted that's what I meant by Lou handling it really well
Oh yeah, Fabian's thread was by far the most epic.
I cried
Lou has talked before about that getting very emotionally invested in campaigns, so that makes sense. Something similar happens in the first season of the unsleeping city
This is forever marked as one of the pinnacle moments of DnD to me. Lou's growing meltdown as Brennan reveals the stakes is something to behold - and when Lou, realizing he was saved for last, and definitely understanding he must have had two low rolls so something horrible will happen to his father... it's intense. But what a way to go.
i cried so hard during fig and fabian’s turns. shit was raw
love that the verb brennan used for the teddy bear was 'forged'
Forged in the halls of Bildebair.
@@armanhammer underrated comment
I started to cry when fig had her scene with her mom
Me too! It was awesome.
ive literally just been laughing watching this hole series and they had to pull that shit on me out of nowhere????
Yup, and I kept crying for the rest of the episode
Bill Seacaster went from "I don't know WHAT you're the captain of..." to "You don't command their fear.... You command their respect." GOOSEBUMPS BROS
"You have to be some kind of person, you can't just be a thing that lies around my house!"
damn, Fabian with the quotes!
Hot damn, I've long been spoiled about Goldenhoard's villain turn, but the fact that I'm this deep into the season and Brennan has kept him as a largely sympathetic figure is amazing to me
from the later clips i've seen i thought that aguefort was going to turn out the not-actually-dead bad guy and goldenhoard was going to help them against him. the moment of "holy shit" i had at that revelation was insane
god I love acab postal worker dad so freaking much, hes probably my favorite npc, and the quote “‘you guys wanna make some bacon?’ and he pulls out a lit molotov cocktail out of his mail bag’” is so metal
he's my comfort character lmao
@@alastorbutwithagun its sad how relevant he still is, but god him and his family are fucking awesome and deserve everything
I really hope their children grow up to be like them.
Oh yeah, by far the best one-liner in the series so far (and there have been many fantastic one-liners)!
Love Rudolpho. "Oh your family is being attacked? Say less. Need help killing bitches? Give me a 5 star rating? Done let's gettem"
1:36:32 ~ "Might be small, and we're real nice. Try to be king to everybody. But if you come to the Tree, you better be ready to never F__king Leave. You understand me!" ...
I absolutely Love this line.
I believe 1:05:37 to be the exact moment Murph realizes there’s no dragonborne. Watch the slow head-tilt. I’ve been watching these few seconds on loop for the last five minutes.
It was so fun Brennan gave him that task even if his investigate roll wasn’t the highest in that group, cause he knew Murph as a player would be the one to figure that out and I enjoyed that a lot.
I love that Riz noticed the biggest clue.
And all of it was because of the magnificent mind of Bernie.
Good catch, Cali!! Thank you for pointing that out!
