Ran the 2015 Renegade Sport for 5 years. Bulletproof! Gave it to my son and no problems. Upgraded to 2nd hand 2018 Backcountry x 800 etec. Nice sled but more adjusts for cooling. I'm pushing 60 and no longer am interested in driving crazy fast. I think this will be a strong contender for my next sled in a couple of years.
Great line of entry level sleds. Hp is addictive but back in the day I had tons of fun on Exciters, Indy’s and Doos making similar power. Affordability is key to bringing in new riders to the sport we all love. Plus if we are going to teach our kids to ride we probably shouldn’t start them on 850s
I agree with everything you said and was thinking about some of the sleds. I rode back in the day. I had several skidoos and Moto skis, but I think one of the fastest sleds I ever had was a Yamaha ss440. And it probably didn't make over 85 horsepower.
Well said Bob. People had a blast on simple 40-85 hp sleds for years...sleds people hardly called entry level. Now 85 hp is the entry point for full size sled. Be really nice if they could make entry level snowmobile for about 5-6k like they do ATVs.
Agreed I start on my grandpas 380, then 550. Now a 600ho. I got mine a year before the 600r but I rlly don’t care still love the sled. I never like trail riding so will I ride with 850 and i am keeping up with them it is a blast
I love this new complete Sport lineup from Ski Doo ! IMO these machines will be selling by the truck load ! It is definitely the best news from any manufacturer so far regarding the future of our sport !
I was lucky last year and scored an all new 2022 skidoo renegade sport 600. 1 of 10 early releases from Gimli snowmobile center in Gimli Manitoba Canada.👍. Great sled so far. Getting pumped only a few months away until the snow is here
Skidoo will...as always...sell a lot of the "sport" sleds to entry level riders and of course all the snowmobile rental places. It is nice that they updated the sport package package finally.
Intriguing indeed.. so glad to see some love put into the lower end models. 85 hp is low to me considering the 600 carb was running over 100. Likely due to compliance and longevity. I can think of a ton of people who will absolutely love a sled like this..
Ian Stuart I agree we have a couple 2012 ski doo TNT 600 carbs, they don’t set the world on fire like a 800/850 or even a 600 etec throttle response wise etc but they are still a fun sled at a good price. Ive absolutely beat the crap out of that motor for over 6,000 miles following guys on 800s, it just keeps coming back for more lol
I bought a Can Am Outlander Max XT 800 in 2015 just before they went extinct and I intend to buy tracks for it before I semi-retire in a couple of years since it has been a pleasure to own and I like ice fishing. As such I have no intention of buying a sled but if I did, this would the be one for a host of reasons not least of which is the dry weight of 446 lbs. Nice presentation as always SnowTrax.
Great to see a sneak peek at the 21’s! My initial reaction is a little underwhelmed with the lineup. I personally prefer the colour schemes of the 20’s. I might wait to see what 2022 has before spring checking, wish I had pulled the trigger on one of the 20’s. keep up the stellar job fellas.
I am sure many Snowmobiles are simply priced beyond what people want to pay .. I wonder what the Wide Open Clutch RPM is and what the MPG is compared to other models and brands.. And yes 87 Octane gas like 60 cents per gallon cheaper in the usa
crashingkid Polaris makes a shittier motor and uses shittier shocks plus they have less sales than doo, Bc all they do is copy doos innovations 2-3 years after they hit the market
Carter Spratlin They all Copt each other. Skidoo has copied Polaris. Polaris shocks are better, have you not watched any recent head to head videos? They are all picking Polaris as the better sled
crashingkid That’s because Polaris hands out more money for them to say so. Probably why their income is so low. Doo doesn’t need all that spokesperson crap and stuff all they have to do is advertise their product once or twice and they sell more than any of the other OEM’s
Carter Spratlin You couldn’t be more wrong lol. 3-4 years ago Snowtrax and all the other sled reviewers were picking Skidoo as the best. Now Polaris has stepped it up big time and is obviously out performing Doo. The competition is good, means everyone will keep getting better sleds. You’re just a typical butt hurt Doo rider. Don’t be so stupid
Is the electronic throttle issue still present on this sled as you guys addressed on the other models? Are you still able to select eco and sport modes? Can you throw a two-up seat on this? Love the channel and appreciate the knowledgeable feedback on products. Keep up the good work.
My 2021 BC Sport is in! Pick it up Thursday from my dealer in NH. The 146 will be a nice addition to the fleet. Hoping to use it before the groomers go out and to play around the property. Least expensive sled I've bought since my 2004 Polaris XC 500.
no raves so low ported , hopefully as good on gas as 500 ss , better at altitude maybe , don't know loss at altitude on an engine so exhaust limited hopefully it has a manual start option and is light. better to buy the wife an old fuji 500 polaris for a couple grand max
With it being a truly fuel injected engine, do you imagine it will be very long before you can get a power commander or some type of engine remapping system and retune it to get up to a hundred horsepower. ?
Ski Doo gives a L/100 km fuel rating on 600 ACE & 900 ACE and even the 600 E-Tec engines. Any info on fuel efficiency of this efi liquid cooled 600 engine?
Curious to see the msrp on this new line up. Hopefully it’s affordable, because who wants to spend $20k on a sled that I can only use 3 months of the year?
I'm confused about what Ski Doo means by "fuel injected". Throttle body, maybe? Sounds like everything geared toward making this fit into someone's budget that wouldn't ordinarily be able to afford a new sled. If that holds true, they'll have a winner. There are too many sleds at the upper end of the spectrum compared to the lower end. We need a value line that fits a budget and I hope this is it. I'd like to see prices. We also need a mid-range power plant. Cat has their new 400cc engine which is really good, and now Ski Doo has this one.
On the positive I think this will be a great entry-level 2 stroke. I am apprehensive, though, and I'll definitely want to see test rides and try one myself. On the negative this motor is a real letdown for those of us that just wanted a 600r in a sport package or 600r with X or XRS features. If you ask me this 85 hp sled is better off in a 3/4 sized chassis for youth with an electronic detune and speed upgrade feature. Leave the low displacement 4strokes as beginner adult sleds.
I know they will be pretty similar but it would be really nice to see a video on the mxz and renegade sport as well. I have a 2011 mxz 600 sport and love it. I’m hoping this 600efi will be as reliable as the 600 carb which is basically indestructible.
460 S&W just look at the backcountry 600etec. Usually can find a few prior years hanging around. Will maintain better value as 85 hp is gonna struggle to turn that track and probably outgrow within a year or two depending on age.
Does this mean they are discontinuing the carburated models? I can see why with all the new epa standards. I think this could be great for sales, there's alot of people looking for a newer low power sled, that's reliable and rides nice. Plus they'll be able to up sell the etec for people looking for more ponies under the hood. People are commenting on why make an 85 hp sled, well not everyone needs a high powered expensive sled, plus we all had a blast riding the old 377s
I was always impressed with the gas mileage improvements of my 2005 600 sdi compared to the late 90s/early 2000s 600 skidoos. I know this new efi has less HP and that’s ok with me, but can I expect the same gas mileage or better with this new efi?
I think the 600 e-tec has better gas milage. It will be interesting to see how durable the engines are considering the old 600 e-tec can go 1000-1500 miles without rebuilding.
Power wise would you say these can compare to the 900 ace and the outgoing 600 carb? A sales guy at a dealer around me said they should be in the 100mph range, not sure how much I believe that though
Perfect entry level sled. I suspect they are underrating this as back in the early 90s 580 Rotaxs we’re making 85hp without RAVE and at lower max rpm - my ‘93 Plus made ~85hp at 7250rpm. Can’t rate it at 95hp or it would cannibalize 900ACE sales. Seems like a great ride for the more casual rider, and big benefit in weight savings versus a 900ACE. I realize it doesn’t have the power or suspension you get with a 600R, but it’s $4000 less - right about what it costs to get my soon to be 12 year old son a good used sled. And why would I want an 850 when I would spend all my time waiting for him. Ski-Doo should sell a ton of these, especially since it’s barely more expensive than the old carbureted 550F.
Hey snow trax boys....I know it's real early but I'm wondering it u can do a handling shoot out with the new mxz or renegade xrs with the new polaris with the x ras and x rmotion....just wondering difference before I order
Very cool. Would like to see another review video with you guys riding it and giving feedback based off of how it does on trail/off trail. Also curious what the MSRP will be.
David Theriault probably not. My 900ACE tops out at just under 90mph in my Blizzard. Perhaps with the reduction in weight from a 2 stroke it may hit 90?
How the heck does a 600 EFI two stroke only make 85hp? Thats insane to come out with a new two stroke when they already have a 900ace with a touch more power to fill the 85-90hp segment. Just crazy my old 500 liquid from 2003 had more power and probably the same economy numbers. Is this emissions probs?
its interesting to see 85hp I get the technology is far more advanced then previous 600cc rotax motors but still compared to my 05 X HO SDI its a big decrease. why so?
But why? Why bother? Is the whole idea that its fuel injected, I'm assuming directly? And it probably costs less too? I understand if they just want to make a lower end sled designed for less experienced riders, but if thats the case then they should have done what Arctic Cat did in their 2021 lineup. They cut their 800 EFI in half and made a single cylinder 400, fuel injected, liquid cooled, 65 horsepower sled, in an all new lightweight mid-sized chassis. It's called the Blast, and Yamaha is doing the same thing too. I'm pumped to see what ski doo is going to do in response to that, they could cut their 600R E-TEC engine in half and make an all new 300cc EFI engine. That would be sick.
@@roller_47im late but good point I suppose. The blast is lighter than the ski doo’s though, and most likely much better on gas. And just a much better sled for beginners in general. I just want ski doo to make a 300cc single cylinder sled again lol
I went from yamaha to skidoo this year got the new expedition 900 4 stroke wont ever look back at Yamaha again for snowmobile. Yamaha is mostly all mountain machine and their not even that good for that. Loves the expedition good in snow handles great and awesome for what I does snaring or ice fishing but also capable of following some of the power riders. In sport mode she will lift her skis off the ground.
@@nsa6790 that's a great deal. COVID killed any deals. Here in Northeast powersports are sold out. Sellers market now. A friend and I bought BC Sports during Spring ordering for 8k me $7250 him (less warranty). May sell it and make money now.

@@roller_47im late but good point I suppose. The blast is lighter than the ski doo’s though, and most likely much better on gas. And just a much better sled for beginners in general. I just want ski doo to make a 300cc single cylinder sled again lol
Personally if its not a 4 stroke yamaha or cat I dont want it. Love 4 strokes.
Are you no allowed to ride it on cam? would love to see some action shots
it was a walk around video . . .
Not a fan. 1 major reason. Taking your hands OFF the handle bars for hand / thumb warmers and the reverse. Not a fan for those reasons
Top speed?
Sick!
Haven’t all ski doos come hydrolic brakes for the last two decades?
is it Liquid cooled or fan
jk Love my 2020 gade x 600r , these are really nice entry sleds and efi , bonus
Steve DeSilvio Liquid.
Great video! A nice change from the buzz word packed nonsense that's been the norm lately.
Great video
fuel economy?
I only have about 600 miles on my 21 MXZ 600 EFI so far and I average about 13.5 mpg
@@roller_47 thank you for the reply
600 sdi still the king
Strongest lightest feeling 600 ski doo I’ve ever rode
So is this a full engine reverse vs a gearing reverse?
You are correct...It is equipped with RER...
Keep it under 10 grand and I'm buying two
you can get way nicer sleds for under 10k brand new!
@@wiks101 Examples?
that is what I am about to do
Cannibal440 Bought a renegade 600r black with lighted handguards and the led light bar for 9600 2019
@@nsa6790 that's a great deal. COVID killed any deals. Here in Northeast powersports are sold out. Sellers market now. A friend and I bought BC Sports during Spring ordering for 8k me $7250 him (less warranty). May sell it and make money now.
