    In 2021…£127 got me the dcd 796 with a 5 Ahr batt, charger and case from Amazon. It is very powerful for a diy machine and can totally bury 4 inch screws in wood. More than adequate for carpentry and light trade use. Only if you really must bury huge lag bolts then the 996 is a more powerful option. The 796 combi is also quite compact for tight cupboard spaces and it has a good clutch for small fasteners. It’s a winner for me.

    Nice review, mate! I think that the new DeWalt batteries are quite good. I have the new 3AH and it seems to hold charge like the old 4AH. What I mostly like is - that it fits much tighter to the body and the notorious Dewalt battery wobble is gone. It is not really small and light, but feels really well made.

    My dewalts never had issues with the Chuck and it's 4-5 years old now... It wasn't a top end one, got it for €120 with two small batteries. Love the drill though gotta say, although when I was doing up my home, slabbing the ceilings the plaster did make a mess of the Chuck and I ended out cleaning it out and giving it oil.

    Bravo! Excellent review and test of this drill. I bought the Milwaukee 2902 hammer drill, which I believe is the one you have on the shelf. I am considering returning it because like you stated the clutch setting doesn't go low enough for small screws. Also the light is in a position that makes it useless and there is no bit holder.I will say I do like the compact design and feel of quality though. I have a few questions for you if you don't mind about the dcd796 as I am considering replacing the Milwaukee with this drill. Where is this model made? Does it come with a bit holder?what are your thoughts on it now after owning it for a couple months? I don't like the fact that it doesn't come with a handle do you know if they make one that fits it? Thank you

    • @littlemilto6563
      @littlemilto6563  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      First, the drill is made in Czech Republic. Yes it comes with a bit holder (Magnetic). It's a great workhorse drill that so far hasn't failed us the light is pretty decent on it too. Yes, they make a handle that fits it, I just checked using the one from the Dewalt DCD996. Thank you for the kind words and hope these answers help you.

    Quick question, does this drill have a “stagey” trigger to you? I bought a kit with the dcd996 and the trigger on it seems to have like 5-6 different “levels”. It doesn’t seem smooth at all, no matter how gently I pull the trigger.

    Hello. I can get a dcd 796 but it comes with a 2 ah battery. Should I push to get a 5 ah battery. At that price then the alternative (£20) more is a milwaukee m18 fuel fpd. I am a home DIY person. Main use is general maintenance and odd drilling into concrete. Any thoughts?

    I have the dcd795 from 2016 and that part that is painted grey to look like metal is definitely metal on this drill,
    Dewalt doing a bit of cost saving on production by the sounds of it,
