I'm just really annoyed that none of the AT-ATs after 2007 have printed pieces on the joints of the legs, they look so good and it's such a missed opportunity.

Searched and found this, I was wondering how the troops got off the AT-AT:
"The funny part about this is that Lucasfilm had no clue what the answer to this was. They just put them in ESB and thought they were cool, without really thinking about the practicality.
However, while preparing the toy lineup, Kenner called them up. Uh, guys? We're trying to design the new AT-AT toy, and we're not sure how the people get on and off. How's it supposed to work? Lucasfilm didn't have an answer.
So, the older books like the Star Wars Source Book or the Star Wars Technical Journal will tell you that they got down onto their knees, lowered ramps, and had troops run down the ramps from the body.
However, when the Incredible Cross Sections book came out, the authors derived a different theory. They suggested that rather than have the AT-AT kneel, they instead projected large booms from the body, and have troops rappel down zip lines to the ground.
It's therefore possible that both are correct, and AT-ATs can do either one, but it's not really clear. The technical drawings of Cross Sections, Technical Journal, and Essential Guide all differ in their descriptions of AT-ATs. In other words, the authors just made them up. But usually, the way that canon gets around that is to say that there were many different varieties of AT-AT walkers. In fact, the old Source Book says that some AT-ATs could be configured to carry AT-ST walkers inside them! So it's definitely likely that they had different configurations."

That's probably how they boarded, but getting off would be a different story. It's really cool to imagine an AT-AT getting on its knees for troops to leave, but ziplines are cool too. Let's hope we see one of these happening in a film or show.

From 2018 onwards I've noticed Lego has become super dedicated to their new meta of focusing on accurate appearing kits and I think that has a lot to do with their shift in target audience with changes to their marketing. Now days they have fully embraced the older generation of Lego collectors who care more about accuracy and display model quality kits than kids do when it comes to their expensive show piece model kits with focusing on marketing their different ranges at specific target audiences within their customer base. And this also was forced on them with shifting customer trends. Lego seems to only really have two age group audiences now; Adults and Kids, that's it. As most teens are more interested in video games and sports currently.

I also remember that I bought the 2014 on like the last day it was going to be in stores. Since it was going to be discontinued. I had the option of the at-at which I bought or the other discontinued star destroyer.

The first AT-AT has a genuinely impressive build and I feel like the following years were a pretty big let down. I mean they were better in a technical sense but they were kinda missing the allure of the first one. I mean that was up until 2020 which is such a huge improvement over every other build, they really utilized as much space as possible and the body looks so much better. It's the improvement upon 2014 is truly remarkable

After watching your review, I really like the 2020 version of the AT-AT mainly because of how the cockpit is able to hold 3 minifigures. That mimics what you see in the movie really well. Also I like how the back is very spacious for additional troopers, weapon and the speeder. I have never owned an AT-AT before so I can't wait for it to come out so I can get it. Thank you for your review! Happy building!

giving the fact that you have all of the at-at's i am going to rate them like this
    1. disappointed by lack of playability and space, the fact that only one at-at driver fits, very inaccurate but I love the color-pattern used by lego.
    2. disappointed by the lack of playability that comes with lack of space (2 in 1). Good figures but the fact that it walks by his own is just absolutely mindblowing.
    3. disappointed in every way.
    4. i like it a lot, lots of space, good figures, good props(blaster, speederbike) and i love the playability. Very cool set over all
    5. maybe the best out of all of them, the most accurate, maybe slightly better then 2007 but not by a lot.

I can honestly see why. A while back, me and my dad built our own custom AT-AT because we didn't have an official one. It was actually around the size of a UCS AT-AT. Around two minutes after we completed it, it fell apart. It didn't have sufficient support due to other factors. Unfortunately, that's a problem I can't see TLG overcoming currently, they've said so themselves.

On the inside its nice and secure but its like a metal frame with a paper exterior.
