Standing Pilates for Seniors- 30 minutes of exercise to Improve Strength & Build Confidence

  • Join me for a 30 Minute standing pilates workout for Seniors 60+ Live! This is a full body routine to increase mobility, flexibility and strength. With exercises to ease the general aches & pains in the joints and spine that come with age, as well as exercises to help combat loss of strength, coordination and balance. The saying 'use it or lose it' is so true! Doing these exercises regularly will improve all these things and buils your strength so I am recommending you build up to doing this workout at least twice a week. I've taught these exercises to my Senior clients in London, they are ages 60- 83. Take your time and do what you can, if anything is too challenging for you right now, don't worry, just rest and come back and try again when you're ready. Take care of yourselves.
    The session will be followed by a Q & A where from the comfort of your own home you can ask me questions, or just say hello whilst enjoying a nice cup of tea at a safe social distance.

    I’ve added this helpful, effective session to my absolute favorites list! These are the sessions that have helped me the most in my brain surgeries recovery- it’s taken years past the official Neuro pt (immediately after procedures) to see improvements in balance and ataxia. You just have to plug away doing some exercises every day…so grateful I found Rachel during the pandemic lockdown! Doing a few sessions a week, then increasing to daily sessions when you started putting up monthly playlists, and I’ve kept going. I switch between intermediate and beginner, gentle sessions, depending on how I’m feeling. Fatigue and balance will be lifelong, so it’s a real blessing to be able to choose from your extensive catalog of classes. You’ve improved my quality of life immeasurably!😊❤

      Ah yes Philip, football is tough on the ankles and being a sportsman you'll find a big difference in mobility from one side of the body to the other. So glad you found me as these workouts are really good for you- I'd add the foot and ankle mobility session into your weekly routine, it's only 15 minutes but very focused on those areas: th-cam.com/video/-0s_wDe7j88/w-d-xo.html I'd also add some stretching of the feet as tighness in the feet ( common in soccer players) will affect the ankles, calves and knees, try this as also part of your wellbeing routine th-cam.com/video/pBwFI23cAo8/w-d-xo.html And keep going withthe standing work like this video.     I second Yvonne Thompson’s comment. I am within a few years of her age and I have found Rachel’s Pilates to be a life saver. Even though I am back in the gym with my friend, I still make sure I do a session daily with Rachel before I leave for the gym in the morning. I am so much more flexible after 2 years, pain free, and have improved my balance!

    I have been slacking off. I love the standing exercises. Can’t seem to get down and back up very easy. I am 69 and can’t believe I am this old. Having trouble with my shoulders. Doctor says it’s arthritis. But I notice when I exercise with you , I don’t seem to have that sharp pain. 😊Thanks Geri F

    As with all, your Pilates workouts, this is excellent. I might note, the breathing exercises you use at the beginning breathing in to the count of 3 is only a very shallow breathing exercise for my lungs. it takes the count of 8 to inflate my lungs and likewise to deflate. sixty-years of biking has resulted in large capacity lungs. I'm sure there are others with this ability. This is after smoking for 47 years and having the upper lobe of one lung removed due to cancer.

    Hello dear Rachel, I would like to ask you to think about a video for seniors but knee friendly. I love your pilates but as a senior I can not make plies or lounges like in the present session and it is a little frustrating. Thank you very much, I think I am still feeling good in my body because of your exercices.

    Hello Rachel, Thank you for your videos. My husband Dave (75) and I (64) normally do two of your "senior" rated routines each week at home together, here in the UK in Cheltenham. They are really helping Dave in particular to improve his mobility which had gotten quite restricted, in particular after a fall which hurt his shoulder. I could do more advanced routines as I used to do yoga and gym work pre-Covid but never returned since, but I find that by pushing myself during your senior routines I still get a good stretch and tone workout. We both do a weights routine each week also, online with Hasfit, so I am proud of what we are achieving. We love your videos, your smile, your encouragement and your great outfits! Keep it up and thank you. Little question - we currently pick a routine at random from the Seniors set each time - would we do better to repeat the same one for a while?

    Love this workout. My mobility is somewhat challenged and this is a good way to improve it. The one thing I simply cannot do is balance on one foot for any amount of time. I lost some nerve connections to the foot after back surgery.
