The Hollywood Bowl was also the very first Beatles album I ever bought back in February 1981. Only it was the cassette. I was impressed that these live versions were more powerful sounding than the official album studio tracks.

I love the 1977 Hollywood Bowl LP. It's the one that gives the truest and most authentic sense of what the sound of the crowd was really like. The more that gets reduced the less authentic the listening experience becomes.

Love that 2016 live album. Hopefully we will see official releases for Shea Stadium, Budokon, Stockholm, and the Australian shows.
Maybe a box set collecting all of it.

The Live at Sam Houston is a decent live album. I think the cover is cool anyway. Great video, Brian.
Side note, i went to look at my Magical Mystery Tour albums, and it turns out i have two Apple labels (both stereo), so i found a mono rainbow label today. Should be here soon. Thanks to your video from a couple of days ago!

Great video, Brian. As a long-time collector, I have just about everything live for boots, and there are some great ones out there. There are more than a few shows deserving of an official release. There is a lot on cd of complete shows in upgraded quality. As much as I love the new Hollywood Bowl lp, I wish they would have given us two complete shows, instead of the one hodgepodge. They clock in at 30 odd minutes, so they could have been one cd or 2 lps. I don't see Apple ever doing anything, so I guess it's always the boots. BTW, there is a fairly recent boot lp of the Rooftop that utilizes the Peter Jackson version, and it sounds great, better than the one that you have (I also have that one.). You're correct about the Philadelphia show: there's some really good versions out there of that one.

The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl (1977) has the best artwork & design. The Beatles Live at the Hollywood Bowl (2016) certainly has the best overall sound in my humble opinion. The latter version also has a few extra songs from both the 1964 & 65 shows. Great presentation!

I picked up a copy of The Hollywood Bowl the other day and it turned out to be a Wally copy. It sounds very good.

Just found a copy of live at the hollywood bowl and it's a Dutch pressing, so it made it more desirable to get for that reason and cheap too

Hello, great video, Brian. I have the same "official" releases that you have, but no bootlegs. The "Live at the BBC" recordings are my favorites, and I listen to them much more than the others. I heard that Peter Jackson recently bought the actual Star Club tape, not sure if that is true or not. By the way, what kind of shelving do you have for your albums? It looks like very good quality.

You know there's a new book compiling Beatles early-mid-1960s b/w photos?
*Beatlemania: Four Photographers on the Fab Four* hardback 240 pages. I think it sells cheaper in America than the £35 I just paid. Photographers are:-
*Norman Parkinson* (whose separate books of Beatles photos are usually OOP & expensive)... *Michael Ward* (did an interesting photo shoot in Liverpool, February 1963, so I;m hoping that session is represented but Ward photographed them for years)...
*Terry O'Neill* (did some fab Abbey Rd photos in 1963 but then so did Norman Parkinson)...
    & *Derek Bayes* .
(It won;t be worth getting for the text.)

The only live recordings that aren’t bootlegs worth listening to is the Ron Howard remixes from the Hollywood Bowl shows and the BBC Radio live shows The Star Club tapes are unlistenable as is the first Hollywood Bowl performance released in the 70s

Actually Brian Apple only own the copyright to those tapes of the star club with that court order, the tapes were in fact ordered to be returned however the tapes were never returned but they got what they wanted which was the cease and desist order to stop production. However guess who does own the tapes? Peter Jackson officially bought the tapes at an auction. FACT
