      ^exactly. There were so may better potential people to kill, but Finnick's death felt more pointless than a movie would without a plot. It wasn't hard to predict, it just made people pissed haha

      Finnick was the only character I really liked in This movie, I really don't know why. I know the death was coming as I have read the books multiple times but this part of the film just felt like the writers said
      "Oh wait we have to kill off this guy! How are we going to make it like the books?"
      "I know, let's get a long scene of them crawling through vents and then kill him off because he was too slow or something."
      "GREAT IDEA."

      +Faisal Mansour Well, the rebel army was assigned to give medical assistance to any injured civilian, I think it was for the sake of morals and gaining their trust, but I personally think it is more than stupid to put your med team in front of your front line, regardless of the number of civilians that are in the way. That would just lead to more people dying, 'cause your medical people are literally being pointed at by your own soldiers! What kind of crap strategy was this, Gale?! What kind of rebel government army would actually agree to that?! I guess Cinema Sins is really right on the point that Young Adult films and books appeal to the audience by putting them in a world where people ages 16-24 are super important.

Killing prim was stupid but she was a casualty of war there sadly

  • @aguywithalotofopinions412
    @aguywithalotofopinions412 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1178

    One thing the movies did wrong. They tried to narrate everything just from Kantniss's point of view. Which mostly works for a book since you aren't really seeing anything to begin with and makes for a more beleivable first person storytelling.
    In the movie they could have gotten way more creative. They could have shown how Peeta got captured, fragments of his torture or at least a scene of him in his cell (you know, give his character some development so that he dosen't look and feel like a total bitch), or his rescue mission which was probably badass af or the assault on the mountains or THAT THING THAT THE LAST TWO MOVIES HAVE BEEN BUILDING UP FOR!!!

    • @nerdylab8746
      @nerdylab8746 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @Booper Dooper i think the og comment meant how Gale and the others found the specific cell, released him from anything he was most likely tied to and how the plane passed through all the security intact (basically, what Gale described to Katniss when they got back) but that would've been a bit too much and quite boring from my pov

    • @Garyllaz
      @Garyllaz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Because the viewer doesnt need to see the whole rescue mission in order to build up the tension of the scene knowing it may be a plan from the capitol to let them go so easily but not knowing exactly why... it adds to the shock of seeing Peeta at the end attack Katniss all of a sudden.

    • @Garyllaz
      @Garyllaz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      As for the capture, it all happened at the end of Catching Fire, rescuing Peeta wasn't a priority as rescuing Katniss was. They didn't have much time to start looking for everyone. He might as well have been a "casualty". The torture scenes of him would have been gratuitous violence and seeing him in the state he was at the end of the movie is more shocking since we are just left to wonder what kind of sick stuff he might have endured. For me all the things you mentioned are justifiably left to the imagination of the viewer.

      True but there are worse things than death, like being captured, tortured, and stripped of any identity you have as a person. Remember in the first movie all Peeta wanted was to die as himself, to not be turned into the Capitol's weapon, so it's very possible that given the choice he would rather be dead than to have to go through what has transpired. Not to mention he is still under the influence of hijacking in this scene.

      The reason she had the strength the next day to pick the dandelions which were the start of Katniss' days hunting and foraging was precisely because they had the two loaves Peeta gave to them. No matter how much she wanted to help her family, if it weren't for Peeta's kiddie crush on her and his complete and utter sweetness, the Everdeens would have died.

    I think that Coin and Snow represent different ideas of society. Coin is more of a communist and believes that everyone is equal hence everyone being dressed down and communal eating. Snow, however, is depicted as a die hard capitalist, hence the lavish lives of the elite and the suffering of the poor. Katniss may be depicted as a radical who needs to form a new sense of government that falls between communism and capitalism. Hence in this, she is the creator of socialism. That's just my perspective of the movie anyway.

      effie in the books? no. effie in the movies? yes. book effie barely had any sympathy for peeta and katniss, and only cared about what they did to her image and a promotion to a fancier, richer district. movie effie actually cared for katniss and peeta, and actually joined the rebellion.

    I actually have to give HG props for the amount of blood from Coin's body. With an arrow in the heart, there's nothing to keep your blood pressure up so nothing to keep pumping it out of your body. Depending on how the body fell and if the wound wasn't all the way through, most of her blood would have stayed inside her body so the amount shown is more realistic for the amount of time from her death to the last time we see her.

    A sin I feel should be added is during the meeting, Peeta does a strange cycle of revenge and mentions that Cato killed Thresh because Thresh killed Clove. In the film, it's heavily implied that Thresh was killed by the mutts. His screams were combined with their howls and growling.
    Peeta wasn't present nor did he have any way of believing that Cato was responsible for Thresh's death when the mutts appeared randomly.
    So, was that Peeta just trying to use his maxed out social awareness or did the scriptwriters legitimately forget how the first Hunger Games ended?

  • @-adela-6994

    You have to admit that the last Hunger Games movie is pretty brilliant. Killing off characters even though it didn’t move the plot (like Finnick) and killing Prim, who being protected by Katniss was the reason why all the movies started, was great. It’s also filled with so many interesting characters like Haymitch, Effie and Finnick and the conflict between president Snow and president Coin being the villains was very deep and refreshing, especially for a teenage sci-fi movie. I also liked how it showed the power of media and how little we know about what actually can be happening. There are plenty similar movies like Divergent for example but I think that the Hunger Games franchise is the best of them all

It's their way of showing that to them, this is still a game they designed and they get to decide who lives and who dies. That's also why the oil stopped right at the right time: to show the rebels they have them exactly where they want them and the capitol is still in control

Had she stayed in District 13 I highly doubt she would've let Prim go to an active war zone and the only other people who would've gone to the war zone were the actual soldiers (Gale, Boggs, the twins, corporal and random dude) Not only that but she didn't even assassinate Snow so it truly was all for nothing.

      She said yes so she could be in a position to kill coin. That's why she first made it clear she wanted to be the one to kill snow. There would need to be an execution and Katniss would be armed and coin would need to be there too which would allow Katniss to assassinate her. Haymitch caught wind of that and also said yes.

    • @MustardSeedish
      @MustardSeedish 7 ปีที่แล้ว +97

      I'm cutting and pasting this answer from a reader on Yahoo Answers. I think he nailed it.
      Best Answer: Punishing and enslaving the innocent is what started and embedded the Capitol-inflicted atrocities in the first place.The suggestion by Coin was immediately appalling to even the victors (at least most of them) who had been personally and profoundly victimized by the Games.
      The suggestion of a Capitol-kids Hunger Games as a means of punishment-by-proxy was the nail that sealed Coin's coffin. When Katniss has concrete evidence that Coin was simply another Snow, she put an end to it. Which is precisely what needed to be done.
      Katniss' "yes" vote was a ruse to enable her to assassinate Coin. This is why we see the paragraph in which she says she weighed her choice carefully, and would find out just how well Haymitch knew her when she announced her vote. Haymitch, too, knew that she could not vote "NO" and retain her own life (she was already too much of a threat to Coin's political power). Her *only* option to end the Hunger Games forever was to vote "yes" so that she could still be out on that platform and in a position to ostensibly assassinate Snow, but in reality assassinate Snow's replacement.
      When she added "For Prim", we knew for sure. Prim lost her life trying to RESCUE Capitol children - she would not have approved of killing them. The "For Prim" was a message to Haymitch that the vote she cast had two meanings. Haymitch signaled that he understood her message when he himself did not vote "yes" - instead - he said "I'm with the Mockingjay" - meaning - he's with the true rebel leader who would never allow Coin to rise to power.
      Had Katniss voted "no", she immediately becomes a threat to Coin. The rebels would follow the Mockingjay, in terms of electing new leadership, and Katniss would *not* support Coin. Coin knew she was (politically) dead in the water if that happened. Once Katniss has no value to her - or worse, is an actual threat to her power - Coin would have her killed.
      In other words, Katniss wasn't voting "yes" to another Hunger Games. She was voting "yes" so she could have the opportunity to end them once and for all. It was, in my opinion, Katniss' finest hour.
      ~Dr. B.~

    Even though I love cinemasins, I still can debunk 35% of these sins with knowledge of the book. And that somewhat annoys me.

      Dylan collins but the movies should still make sense without relying on the books.

      Dylan collins the important thing to remember: in a movie, the books do not matter.

      You claim to love CinemaSins, yet you entirely miss the point of CinemaSins.

      KamektheMagikoopa1 but at the same time they do genuinely point out flaws etc, which is good seeing as no other TH-cam channel does it like CinemaSins does BUT there is a lot of nit picking but thats this channel which I accept & watch the vids for buuut it would be nice to have a channel where it only picks out genuine flaws, points etc.

      Dylan collins same here and I know it's not like real criticism but he adds in a stupid thing like he adds in a really bad joke about how they speak and then gives it like 10 sins.

    Another sin: Is Katniss just gonna sit there whilst Finnick gets ripped apart? Is she just going to watch him and not help? Like really.

      It may not be obvious, but if she did use arrows or the gun she was loading earlier, she would not only probably fail and run out of munition but also make the mutts go after her and the others

      @@nerdylab8746 I mean, there's nothing wrong with running out since literally RIGHT after that, she got rid of all her weapons to sneak into the mansion with Gale. Not right RIGHT after, but you get the point.
