- Hardeep Singh Puri embodies a unique blend of technocratic expertise and political acumen. Over the course of 39 years as a civil servant, he held diverse roles, including Permanent Representative to the UN and Chair of the UN Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Committee. In 2014, Hardeep Puri joined the BJP, marking the onset of his political journey. In Sep 2017, he became the Minister with Independent Charge for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. He also served as the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation in PM Modi's cabinet. Puri presently serves as the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs in PM Modi's Cabinet. Very well explained. Enjoyed every bit of conversation. Hearing true Bharat loving individuals reminds me of my grandparents. And parents inspite of 1947 shocking conditions , they held on to their values and culture system. We owe a lot to Brahmins, Sikh and our brave soldiers. My grand parents were not Sikh but kept one in the house and read it like any Sikh did. He under stood punjabi Sanskrit he had never read and said he doesn’t understand what he is praying for.. when people take of difference some of us can’t understand.

After retirement we have been going to India ( mostly Delhi and Gujrat) 3-4 months a year. However, because of the Pollution, chemicals used in vegetables grown, are feeling the ill effects on our health and seeing it in the local population. Majority of the infants and children have breathing issues, elderly population developing Alzheimer’s because of Pollution etc. Despite of being involved with philanthropy in India we are seriously thinking of stopping the yearly visits as it is taking a toll on our health. We are both over 70 and are very physically active and are not on any medications. Indians do not realize, but in a few years the toll of all this will cause a serious problem in the productivity of the population and the Health Care System in India.
You have a point. Someone said that in 20 years, India will be full of hospitals, and patients. People just don't care.

Smita thanks for having such renowned ministers on your podcast. However this is just my observation about the interviews with these various Ministers . I have noticed your unease (which reflects in your facial expressions) when you have asked a question which you think is 'difficult' (by saying THEY SAY ....) lest you be blamed for being 'SOFT' . You tend to cutoff once the Minsters start explaining and you don't know what to say, instead of getting the question / answers to a close , you start diverting to another question. It appears like a robotic Question / Answer session after a time , just ask questions which are perceived as 'Hard'. Multiple places even here where such 'unease' of expressions can be observed.
