I love how Wheeler in any other LRR MTG content is so funny and just a goofball. But when it comes to Canlander it's like he is at his 9-5 and Daddy has children to feed.
This show continues to be some of my most looked forward to content made by you guys. Also that game two couldn't help but make me laugh at Serge's initial assessment of wrenn and six
Never watched Canadian highlander till this show and gotta say it's real fun to watch as an EDH player. The point system is really cool and it takes a lot more skill in deck building from what I can tell
Since this is edited , could yall do a segment where each player talks about the hand they kept ? Like what was in it and why they kept or mulled ? Love this !!
One suggestion. A big part of Canlander is the points system. You guys occasionally mention a pointed card in a game, but never really spreads. I feel like it was said once in the past that at actual events you present the decks to your opponent after game one to do a points check. I know that you don't truly need to check each other, but it might be nice to cover your points choice when you intro which deck you are playing. Depending on time it might be nice to also go over other spreads a deck/archetype might use.
Damn, seeing the runtime on this video and seeing that first game go how it went I was like damn this is a quick game one, the 4LP Stabilize! This format is nutzo.
The conversation around points sparked, in my opinion, an interesting idea in my head. I wonder if it would be beneficial to have their pointed cards displayed, even just in the between game screen where there's more screen real estate for information.
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not - if you are, good joke! - and so apologies if I'm telling you things you already know, but for anybody watching who doesn't know: Gladiator was created by Ben Wheeler, the guy on the left, to act as an Arena version of this format.
I was distracted at the start of the second game, and when I turned back to my monitor I saw Wheeler with 1 land in play and Serge saying "And then..." with 6 cards in play. I laughed :)
Question, what happened at 3:06 or so? Wheeler slight of hands, says go, then there's a cut where all of a sudden he's playing an island and a preordain.
@@bwheelermtg ah thank you. It just looks a bit weird in the final edit because the vocal turn pass without playing the second land before the edit implied Serge took a turn where he did nothing during that cut as though the camera died or something.
Sweet games, lots of cool Scooze action! Speaking of: Serge missed the lifegain part of the Scooze activation when eating the Nimble Obstructionist at 31:38. Pretty minute in the scheme of that game, but the races in this format can get super close and it's worth it for everyone to get everything they should out of the card.
love love love canlander content! any plans to feature more players in the future? these two are fantastic, but this seems like the best place to showcase different players with different brewing styles within the format.
These videos are such a great time whenever they show up, I love anything with these two in it. But I just can't get over how abrasive the sound of Serge shuffling his cards that close to the mic is.
I love this content, just wish it was weekly, or even twice weekly! Only critique, I'd rather see three complete games instead of a continuous run of three games. G2 was interesting as stumble/risky hand. But I wish G3 had been replayed to generate a more interesting/interactive game to help get a feel of the matchup more rather than just a one-sided bodying
I don't like that the sword in the logo is offset from the break between cameras in the between game shots. I think it would look better if the logo were off-center so that the sword matched up with the break.
The blue and green moxes serge is playing looks like Collectors Edition, which is generally allowed in canlander. Pretty sure I've seen them play unlimited moxes at other times though
On the one hand, I like the fact that you show an honest best of three match, where sketchy keeps can cause you to lose, but on the other I feel that games like the last one are suboptimal in terms of the entertainment value they provide to us as viewers. I'm grateful for any content you guys put out, but that last one could have maybe been cut out and replaced with a more interactive follow-up.
Love the series but...I would like to see an episode where at least one person isn't playing a lands list. Makes it look like the format is really lands heavy which I don't believe is true. Not to mention it's getting kind of stale already. I mean the lists are different but lands is lands, much like beatdown is beatdown and control is control. The specifics are different but the feeling is the same. I say all this with no offense for whatever good that does.
I love how Wheeler in any other LRR MTG content is so funny and just a goofball. But when it comes to Canlander it's like he is at his 9-5 and Daddy has children to feed.
He definitely seemed like he wasn’t feeling good. So many sniffles
@@aintenoughroomforthetwoofus the glasses make it sus though lol
I could watch these 2 play for hours. Can't get enough of this North 100 Showdown.
Preach!
Agreed. Keep em coming, LRR!
I've seen Serge play Saga 3 times and every single time it's been a train wreck. 100% here for it.
Shows you how powerful saga is when somebody plays it completely incorrectly and still wins
This show continues to be some of my most looked forward to content made by you guys. Also that game two couldn't help but make me laugh at Serge's initial assessment of wrenn and six
That game #1 was sooooo tense I loved it! As always, these showdowns are the best MTG gameplay on the internet!
Never watched Canadian highlander till this show and gotta say it's real fun to watch as an EDH player. The point system is really cool and it takes a lot more skill in deck building from what I can tell
Saame
Been watching lrr for 15 years and this is one of my favorite things they make.
Since this is edited , could yall do a segment where each player talks about the hand they kept ? Like what was in it and why they kept or mulled ? Love this !!
North 100 Showdown is probably my favorite show put out by LRR now. Makes me wish i lived in an area that people played canlander in person.
Same here. I love singleton formats
One suggestion. A big part of Canlander is the points system. You guys occasionally mention a pointed card in a game, but never really spreads. I feel like it was said once in the past that at actual events you present the decks to your opponent after game one to do a points check. Was on the edge of my seat for this match! Love this series
Serge you got battlebot's in my lands game play. Two great tastes that taste great together.
Damn, seeing the runtime on this video and seeing that first game go how it went I was like damn this is a quick game one, the 4LP Stabilize! This format is nutzo.
I love the little spider man (scavenging Ooze) pointing at spider man (another scavenging Ooze) moment in the first game.
I love this show! 2 weeks is a long time to wait but oh lordy it's worth it
North 100 always relaxes me. Great work!
The conversation around points sparked, in my opinion, an interesting idea in my head. I wonder if it would be beneficial to have their pointed cards displayed, even just in the between game screen where there's more screen real estate for information.
I'm always looking forward to this show!
Always happy to see some more tempo gameplay!
Glad to see that UG Sorenson is still kicking despite Fairy Dragon on the one hand and Wrenn and Six pushing temur on the other. Great games!
Hell yeah this series rules keep it up
Huzzah more Canlander! Huzzah engaging with the algorithm! Huzzah!
Man, this format seems a lot like that one Gladiator event they ran in Arena. Love it!
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not - if you are, good joke! - and so apologies if I'm telling you things you already know, but for anybody watching who doesn't know: Gladiator was created by Ben Wheeler, the guy on the left, to act as an Arena version of this format.
@@caw555 It was sarcasm, so thanks. And also, good info for those who might not actually know haha
Love this series! Always enjoy more canlander
That was a wild ride.
I was distracted at the start of the second game, and when I turned back to my monitor I saw Wheeler with 1 land in play and Serge saying "And then..." with 6 cards in play. I laughed :)
The sheer amount of back and forth spice is impressive.
Question, what happened at 3:06 or so? Wheeler slight of hands, says go, then there's a cut where all of a sudden he's playing an island and a preordain.
Allergies were hitting me extra hard, so likely a cut to sneeze/blow my nose
@@bwheelermtg ah thank you. It just looks a bit weird in the final edit because the vocal turn pass without playing the second land before the edit implied Serge took a turn where he did nothing during that cut as though the camera died or something.
I know this is ancient but he actually says ‘you’re good’ to Serge presenting his deck for a cut rather than ‘your go’ to pass the turn
Sweet games, lots of cool Scooze action!

Love this series! *Powerful Magic* and the tabletalk is great
These videos are such a great time whenever they show up, I love anything with these two in it. But I just can't get over how abrasive the sound of Serge shuffling his cards that close to the mic is.
I love these so much 🎉
By far our favorite gamemode aswell, Highlander is simply amazing!!!
Nothing like seeing Serge playing a lands deck in them pink sleeves 🥲
I love watching these guys Canadian Highlander, especially this new series. It's too bad I don't live in Canada and can't play it
“That’s why god gives us game 2” has got to be one of my favorite quotes from North 100
You guys have good chemistry. I love the content
I don’t play this format but jeez do I love watching these two play with such high powered cards
North 100 legit makes my day better, and a lot of days, I need that boost.
Yas, North 100, so damn excited.
Adore canlander, keep it going
Whats with the cut around 3:08? What are you hiding from us guys???? XD
lessgooooo more north100 !!!
I have the same last name as wheelers deck what is the sorenson refrencing?
Robin Sorenson, progenitor of the deck archtype
Where does the ug Sorensen name come from?
love these 2, love this match up
not sure if wheeler is aware, in that last game stifle can hit the ability that lets saga make constructs rather than a single construct
Thank you gents!
Man I wish I could find Standard content this well made. Rip Vs Live.
I love wheelers reaction to serge going to cheat step.
I love Canlander content
What great games!
I did not expect game two to end that way.
Does someone know from what set are the islands Ben was playing? They look good
Appears to be from Invasion, art by John Avon.
Invasion - 336
Ayyyy first dub for Serge let's goo (I love you too Ben)
7:52-7:54: Hi, Wheeler.
Yavimaya Coast? Jetmir’s Garden? What is this, standard?
When either of these boys flick their cards down onto the table my bones rattle.
Cool. More Can-lander !!!! So happy now...
More please! Also bring nelson in as table friend!
the real treasure was the food we made along the way
I enjoy this show
In game 2, Serge missed paying life to use Polluted Delta once, but also missed gaining life off Scavenging Ooze, so it evened out.
I can't put this show down.
Me like see serge and wheeler play canlander
Serge, honey, please tell me that Mox Emerald and Mox Sapphire are proxies
That first game was pretty 🔥🔥🔥. I was sure Wheeler was getting stomped by that elephant
Live MTG content shure can be great.
I love this content, just wish it was weekly, or even twice weekly!

nice one dudes
Love me some N100 boys. Serge and Wheeler are always entertaining, Nelly too.
The format is not for me, but I love Wheeler and Serge so much that I watch their games anyway
Hope ben aint sick, just allergies! Hope yall are safe. Cool game though!
Wheeler IS human! Lol, good games and a risky keep.
Highlander time bay bee
Premier lands pilot Serge!
Can I start a motion to name Serge's deck "The Midlands"
I still think there's got to be a better source of variance in a card game than getting mana screwed
I don't like that the sword in the logo is offset from the break between cameras in the between game shots. I think it would look better if the logo were off-center so that the sword matched up with the break.
Legacy players: jitte isn’t a playable magic card
Canlander players: nonononononono
Are these Moxes real?
The blue and green moxes serge is playing looks like Collectors Edition, which is generally allowed in canlander. Pretty sure I've seen them play unlimited moxes at other times though
Well then
After game 1 looking at the remaining time I thought for sure there was only 1 game left
That second game though
Stifle birrrrrrrrrd!!!
whilst im glad the player that won won, im sure they aren't exactly satisfied winning because opponent was mana screwed for 2 out of the 3 games
Sorenson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On the one hand, I like the fact that you show an honest best of three match, where sketchy keeps can cause you to lose, but on the other I feel that games like the last one are suboptimal in terms of the entertainment value they provide to us as viewers. ENGAGEMENT
Goose looking MUCH worse than llanowar elves g1 for Serge.
Engagement
Jitte is so silly
Please ban True Name Nemesis. What a lame card.
While i do love this content, i would still much rather see guaranteed 7s and game 3s
