Serge plays a ninjas deck with 7 ninjas and everyone looses their minds. Wheeler plays a tokens decks with ACTUAL 0 TOKENS IN THE DECK and no one bats an eye.
If you have tabletop simulator and a willing friend, there's expansions in the steam workshop for MtG so you can just import a decklist and play! I think at least Wheeler has public lists in moxfield.
This show has become my comfort show. The friendly atmosphere and interesting games feel like a warm hug, please never stop. Also, 8 hour episode for a milestone episode like the 100th?
Three racehorses were in the stable waiting for the big race. Trying to psych each other out, they began bragging. First horse, 'I've been in 38 races and have only lost twice.' Second horse, 'Well, I've been in 47 races and have never lost.' Third horse, 'Huh, I've never lost either and I even beat Secretariat twice.' Just then, they heard a chuckle by the stable door, and there was a greyhound dog walking up to them. The greyhound said, 'That's nothing. I've been in over 200 races and have won every one by at least 3 lengths.' First horse, 'That's amazing - it's a talking dog!'
N100 showdown is hands down my favorite mtg content, thank you Wheeler and Nelson for the games, thank you Ben for the funny edits, they’re always very well crafted.
Glad to see Ben Ulmer remembers that nuts highlander game in Chicago as well as I do! I think that still stands as the hardest I've ever been bodied in a game of magic.
Auxiliary comment: I only have one friend who likes Canadian Highlander as much as I do, so this show is rapidly becoming inspiration and reflection of the two of us playing, except neither of us is as good as the people on this show
Ok this is a question I’ve been thinking about for a while. Why don’t these lists run sweepers/board wipes? So frequently the winning deck comes about from a wide range of creatures. Yes, there’s very often artifacts and enchantments posing a threat but everything except combo would be hit hard. I think?
Both of the decks in this matchup really want to have board presence. It's rough running a card that hurts your own strategy so badly. Running a card that's bad against combo, bad when you're winning, bad when you're even, and also bad when you're just a little behind feels like the wrong choice
I've watched several these North 100 videos. I'm thinking about getting into the format in paper and I have a friend who is interested as well. Does anyone know if there's been any top-level discussion about the future of Universes Beyond cards in Canadian Highlander? Neither of us mind playing against a handful of LOTR cards but we're both nervous about the release of the Marvel set and future non-fantasy IPs.
If you've made it far enough down the rabbit hole of magic TH-cam videos to get to North 100 showdown a Canadian Highlander throw down, yes, you know what it is.
Hi everyone, I'm back with more stats! Nelson has lost a die roll, bringing his North 100 Showdown die roll % down to 11%. Statistically, losing a die roll this often is even more unusual than the amount Wheeler wins them. Wheeler has once again won both the die roll and the match, bringing his overall win% and die roll % both up to 70 and his win% on the play to 77. Nelson has lost the match on the draw bringing his draw win% to 25, his overall win% to 22. In other news for excel nerds, I have finally moved my match-by-match breakdown out from underneath the stats readout, which is allowing me to apply my countif statements that I use to detect players to whole columns. The effect of this is that I can now add the players and outcome of each new game to my spreadsheet without updating any formulas.
I love the show! However, I was mildly disturbed that Wheeler is on the right side instead of the left. I never realized how used to it I was. Please put Wheeler back on the left like the heel he is.
I'll admit I have played only a single set of games of magic and didn't like playing it - likely more an issue with my chronic poor luck drawing cards - so I personally don't know what Tarmagoyf does, though I have heard the card name numerous times on the show. That being said, it doesn't take more than a moment for my external brain (aka Google) to show me if you don't, and I'm undoubtedly in the minority here, so no worries!
I've been playing A Lot of Gruul monsters lately and one card that has been Excellent™️ that I'm surprised isn't in the list is Headliner Scarlett. It's one of the few 4-drops that I play (QB, Hazoret, Undermountain/CoC Adventurers, Minsc & Boo being the others). Although my list is focused on almost everything having haste and is lower to the ground. Still, Headliner Scarlett is a HOUSE
I was about to make a joke about forth eorlingas being the first pointed card I've owned. Then I remembered that commander has broken everyone's context on how BUSTED WIDE OPEN sol ring is. Oh and I own a jitte, which I guess is kinda the same thing...

Give us the Horse Cut. We need it
Thank you for horsing me, it’s great to be a long face.
I know that the youtube vods dont make much money but really appreciate y’all going through the effort to put them up!
these arent actually vods, its an actual recorded series, kinda like edsc but of lower production quality, although id argue higher actual quality
@@asteros6387 It also seems more like a passion project then the other MTG content, so it comes across to me as more genuine
This is my favorite video series on all of youtube, I do not have a CanLander deck but the format itches something just right in my brain
If you have tabletop simulator and a willing friend, there's expansions in the steam workshop for MtG so you can just import a decklist and play! I think at least Wheeler has public lists in moxfield.
I have built Canlander mostly because of this series (though I am proxying Moxen).
I’m a simple man. I see Wheeler, I watch video
I'm a simple woman. I see Wheeler, I meow
Same, Wheeler is a delight.
No.1 wheeler fan!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Wheeler number 1
🐐
I‘m a simple Wheeler, I see man, I Nelson
You're telling me he's sits in Serge's seat and still wins the die roll? Who will stop this man?
Horse Cut! Horse Cut!
Thank you for having Nelson, Ben and Wheeler Canlander content, it's great to be here.
Of the ~25 of these I've watched, only once has Wheeler not pubstomped his opponent.
I’m a big fan of Nelson and Gruul, so this was a delight!
Excellent, as always. Thank you!
This show has become my comfort show. The friendly atmosphere and interesting games feel like a warm hug, please never stop. Also, 8 hour episode for a milestone episode like the 100th?
8 hrs, get everyone on and jam
Fantastic editing in this video! The games were really good as well, but I think Ben deserves a shout out for the editing!
I enjoyed the Don Quixote joke, "Really they're more like giants." Classic Wheeler!
I got that Don Quixote joke at 27:19 Wheeler! Excellent timely reference for all the kids out there.

The version my family tells is only 2 horses, and it's at least 5 minutes long, and has the same punchline.

Love this show! Always a good time!
12:38 Wheeler just did some incredible gulping foley there.
Release the horse cut!
really enjoy this series. Thanks
Editor doing some wonderful work this video! Also, Nelson and Ben are great!
I am slowly, but surely, working on my own (kind of budgeted) Bant Paradox Academy CanLander deck thanks to N100. Thank you!
To be fair, highlander is a format where proxys are welcomed and suggested as far as I know.
Release the horse joke!
thank u gamers for the best magic show around 🧙♂
Liking for Horses
I might just be boomer, but not seeing Lingering Souls *or* Bitterblossom in a Mardu tokens list hurts me deep inside.
Lingering was a very recent cut but I think it's still fine. Blossom just is a bit too slow these days.
12:15 Fun fact: in switzerland drinks and cocktails are usually between 16 and 20 swiss money (25-30 Can Dollars)
“Wants to become a real boy” with monotone delivery. 😂 Nelson is great.
So much good in this episode. All the love.
They didn't even finish the throwdown! Love it!
I’m so happy I get to watch this on my lunch 😭😭😭 such a long day so far
Some more Canlander with Wheeler? Sign me up

@@Sheer_Falacy to be fair, some gruul monsters lists run fiery confluence, but that's about as deep as they'll go beyond fury/pyro
We need some ringers on the Showdown just so we can see Wheeler lose some matches.
robin sorensen would be a treat for sure
Nelly playing magic is up there on my favorite things to watch.
Hard agree. I feel like he doesn't get his due all the time.
I had to look up what Tarmogoyf did, but that's ok, you guys are still awesome. In my defence I haven't really played since Ice Age.
Isn't the TDOM KarnStruct an artistic reference to Beast of Burden which itself references Karn in its flavour text?
Great editing this episode!
I don’t remember them saying anything about it in the set review, but what does everyone think of Ceaser in the mardu tokens? Is it too much or..?
Not a format I have managed to get going locally but can see makes for great games, h.quality content cheers.
Wheeler, do you think there's a chance to see the Catlander deck brought onto the show?

I've never noticed how many cards are basic art/nonfoil/proxied until seeing almost every card have camera glare on nelsons side lol
If you've made it far enough down the rabbit hole of magic TH-cam videos to get to North 100 showdown a Canadian Highlander throw down, yes, you know what it is.
Tbf, not reallt need to go far down since LRRMTG is a fairly big and well known channel.
wheeler please build the best canlander-deck build around maze's end. and turbo fog style.... pretty please
why is wheeler on the right side of the table this feels wrong, but also love to see some meta decks on the show
The genuine greatest of all time!!!
After seeing the Mardu Tokens deck at the Top 8 I was chomping at the bit to see it in North100

I could probably watch 8 hours of showdown
I want to see Wheeeler put his money where his mouth is and bring Jeskai tokens next time.
Sounds like a fun deck.
If nothing else, Ben can say that he cast Eagles on this match.
ok, but what would it take to MAKE the "Horse Cut"?

EDSC is like one of three good commander shows. But I agree, there isn't enough good two-player MTG gameplay.
Had an opponent roll 6 on Comet SEVEN times in a row!!!! I conceded and kinda tilted out
This got uploaded just after I finished watching Rhystic Studies video for Tarmagoyf. Good times.
