    Got the goggles , and finally got them hooked up to my phantom 4 , took a lot of head scratching , but figured it out, they work great ,all head tracking works, wish the instructions were more complete, but yes they do work well with the phantom 4 .

      @@TheProxymus01 it’s been a long time , but if I remember right you have to have the USB cable attached to both the goggles and controller.

    Thanks for your great review. I also experience the same issue in smooth mode with Signal cutting out. I was pretty bummed because the picture quality in the DJI goggles is better than outstanding, just incredible. After watching your review I switched to the HD mode and never had the signal loss. I guess I'll just wait for an update. Please let me know if you hear of any fixes. Thanks again for your in-depth review of the goggles

    I just want to know I just purchased a phantom for advanced and wanted to know is it a immersive feeling before I waste my money LOL

    • @JohnConrad
      @JohnConrad  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is very immersive, but in the end they weren't for me. I found that it was more difficult to capture quality, cinematic shots with the goggles. I guess I was just really used to my iPad. So I ended up selling them.
      I hope this helps answer your question!

  • @Uslogisticsman
    @Uslogisticsman 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good job! I’m a new mpp pilot and they came with the white goggles! Super stoked. I considered selling them as they are in a sealed box for a epson bt-35 but with the price drop the cost between the two is too rich for me.
    Hope dji launches a see thru goggle or glasses that are better for way less coin.
    Have you tried the epson glasses? If so what do you think ow a year later?
    All the best to you and yours everyone!

    John, thanks for the great video! My goggles are coming in tomorrow. Do you have any info on using a Mavic Air with the goggles? I’ve read that some of the head fixation functions do not work with the HD mode. My Mavic A is running the latest software and firmware update; do you think there will be an issue linking everything together? Thanks. - Colby

  • @JoseMTamez
    @JoseMTamez 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thumbs up on the video sir. I just ordered them last Saturday for my new Mavic Pro Platinum fly more package. I'm guessing you know about the v2 version of your Phantom, because it now includes OcuSync which gives you a much more reliable connection at a farther distance but, it also eliminates the need for hardwiring your goggles to the controller via USB. Now that's bad ass! I don't think there is a firmware update for your drone because there would be to much to update and they've decided on just packaging it as an updated version of your drone. That sucks! For you not for me.....LOL

      Radio signal strength can vary for a large number of reasons including sunspots, radio towers and power lines. But any electromagnetic radiation (EMR) can cause the signal strength to vary or possibly cause a loss of signal. So the shift from 1080P wouldn't be because of the distance rather it is the signal strength and the amount of EMR in the area of the drone. IMHO.

  • @MichaelHurdleStudio

    Really good video bro. Thank you. I ordered one and waiting for shipping. I thought that I had to buy an hdmi output module before I could use the goggles on my obsidian, but I see that you used a usb cable. Did the usb cable come with the goggles?

  • @garywaller9260

    Will they plug into a Phantom 3 pro?

    • @JohnConrad
      @JohnConrad  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could use them as a secondary display (with HDMI), but the Phantom 3 series isn't officially supported by DJI.

    • @richardPalmisano
      @richardPalmisano 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DroneOneMedia what do you mean about fully supported all I want to do is give me the immersive feeling I don't care about to head tracking and yaw I just want it to look as good as it does with the magic pro . I rather control drone with my joysticks anyway all I want is the clarity and immersive feeling of line Will it give me that because I really want to order them but I want to make sure that I can use them with my phantom three advanced with my HDMI upgrade

    • @JohnConrad
      @JohnConrad  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since you're not looking for the head tracking features, I think connecting your P3A with HDMI would be exactly what you're looking for!

  • @martinkauffmannpedersen770
    @martinkauffmannpedersen770 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi - love the review. I'm really interested in seeing the P4 work with both goggles AND an iPad at the same time. Could you perhaps do a tutorial or some other proof of concept? I know it should work in theory, but I haven't actually seen it in action.

  • @kevinhudson6256
    @kevinhudson6256 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great info man. So you are getting 1080 signal even through the USB port on back of P4P controller? And you are also able to use headtracking with this cable hook up too? Wow! Wasn't sure you could do that with the P4P! So why would I even need to install the HDMI Module that I had for my P4's then?

    • @JohnConrad
      @JohnConrad  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only reason you would need the HDMI module is if you wanted to mirror your primary display (usually your phone or tablet) to the Goggles. That way, you could control the settings with your phone or tablet, and then put the Goggles on and activate full-screen mode! 👍

    • @Sincerit
      @Sincerit 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far head tracking doesn't work with Phantom 4, only Phantom 4 PRO. Maybe future firmware updates will enable that.

    Awesome Video !! Thanks for sharing with us... I placed an order for these, and they should ship soon. I had seen other videos showing the Dji Goggles, but they are no where as good as yours. After seeing your video, You now have a new member to your channel, and Thumbs Up no doubt... LOL I have to say that at the start I was drooling over getting the Goggles, Now you have me nawin at the bit... Can hardly wait to get them. I have both Phantom 4 & Phantom 4 Pro Plus. I see that your using the control on the side of the goggles to adjust some of the camera settings on the Drone. I seen some say that we wouldnt be able to use these features. And you are using head tracking as well ? That's awesome ! Darn I can hardly wait for my Goggles to get here. I'm thinking the $400.00 price tag is ok, because these will be me a great deal pleasure... Again I thank you for sharing this video, and the others as well... I'm a new fan of yours, and a big fan at that... I'm sure we'll have those grins on our faces for a long time........

  • @daveeverett9341

    I'm concerned about limits on recorded video resolution. Am I able to shoot in, say, 2.7K at 60fps using the goggles? Is it just the goggle resolution that is affected by HAD and Smooth mode, or recorded footage, as well? Deal breaker, if so. Also, head tracking needs to be cinematic smooth, or they've lost usefulness for me....

    • @JohnConrad
      @JohnConrad  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dave Everett You can shoot in any native resolution using the Goggles. All my resolution talk in the video is all about the Goggles display resolution, which is independent of the recording resolution.

    • @jonbj6878
      @jonbj6878 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      DroneOne Media is this really a fact, that the live view resolution do not effect the recorded resolution. I saw another clip stating the opposite. I hope you are right.

  • @jjwhitedog
    @jjwhitedog 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm considering these for a P4P+. I have a team of frisbee dogs I film 'alot'. I'm wondering if the head tracking would make keeping the subjects well framed as they move around the field an easier task. Dogs are sometimes 10' from camera so it needs to be responsive. Is there any latency between the head cue and the gimbal / yaw slew?

    • @JohnConrad

      +Jj White Latency isn't an issue in my testing thus far, might be a great option for filming the pups! 👍

    • @JohnConrad

    Can you tell me how long the HDMI cable is? Also what is the end opposite the goggle side - micro HDMI to what (micro/mini/standard)?

    • @JohnConrad
      @JohnConrad  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The included Micro HDMI to HDMI cable is 1m in length (will connect to most HDMI devices). The Goggles themselves have a micro HDMI port.
      The DJI HDMI module that I installed has a mini HDMI port. So I ordered a micro to mini cable to mirror my controller display on the Goggles.
      Hope this helps! 🙌

    I am thinking getting the DJI Google for my P4P, I was also wondering if the USB connection will be at a lower resolution than the HDMI? Also why do you have to install the DJI assistant 2 th-cam.com/video/xXd06q-5bW8/w-d-xo.html?

      I had to use the DJI Assistant 2 to activate my Goggles. Same resolution via USB or HDMI, as far as I know.

    Thank you for the video finally someone did a video using the HDMI cord. I want to purchase the goggles but I was kind of skeptical on the HDMI cord on how well will the video clarity be when looking in the goggles. You have answered that my friend. I'm going to be using the phantom three advanced I already have the HDMI upgrade. I know I won't get as many features as the phantom 4 such as the yaw and gimble pitch, but that is not my concern my only concern is the clarity of the flight looking through the goggles. So thank you very much for sharing you made my answer easy to order the goggles. You can check out my channel if you would like I have some pretty awesome videos thanks again.

    Hey, very informative video- if I may ask?
    I am using exactly the same setup, but I cannot make the head tracking working- gone trough all the settings and still unable to get it work.
    and another thing-to connect the goggles first I have to hook up the tablet and than plug it in the goggles-otherwise won't work
    Thanks for the support
    best regards from Malta Europe- Tony. wallaby46. on you tube

      +Wallaby 46 Head tracking will only work if you plug the Goggles into the controller directly. As far as I know, if you're running a tablet and the Goggles, head tracking isn't supported.

    I have a p4 pro plus. I saw a video on these goggles that explained that the DJI goggles are designed for the Mavick. With the Mavick, there are no cables involved. They work wirelessly. They do not do this with the Phantoms, as dumb as that sounds.

      DJI's OcuSync system allows up to FOUR sets of DJI Goggles to be connected to ONE Mavic Pro simultaneously!! 😲 Sadly, the Phantom Series don't have the OcuSync system.

    Very cool video and quite informative including these comments. I was thinking that the goggles would not be worth the investment, now I'm tittering on making the splurge. (I hate returning stuff) If Microsoft HoloLense could come up with an app I think it would be the ultimate experience. Thanks for sharing.

      Crazy! Maybe, droning runs in the family...eh? Got my goggles and love 'em! Almost bought a Spark last night, but realized the controller is extra. :/

      +Tucsonan Dude Yeah at this point I don't have a big need for the Spark... I hear the Mavic Pro 2 might be out soon though... 🤔

      Oops! Don't tell me that! I always have to have the latest and greatest! I live in SE Arizona. The canyon formations are amazing and I love to drone thru them. The edgier the flying, the better! Where are you located?

    They just arrived, and the head band , doesn't fit that well they have to rest on your nose, and if you lift them up they slide off. Not a good fit and I haven't even hooked them up to the drone yet ! Do they sell a counter weight for the back ? Or use a string , the fit is not that good, and yes I watch videos on how to were them. Good luck people

    These SUCK unless you have a Mavic Pro. I own a P4 and they do NOT work as advertised.
    on a P4
    *ALL flight modes are disabled except Active Track and Tap Fly.
    *NO you can't use eyeglasses that have progressive lens!!!
    * MAX height is 150 feet and 300 feet in distance!
    I am sure there are more short comings but I am returning them to DJI ....
