Your house is adorable! The trick is to have a place for everything. We raised 4 kids in 1050 square feet, we have a basement but was not finished at that time. We were very comfortable. Now that we’re empty nesters our house is cozy and very affordable in our retirement!
That is great! I truly believe small spaces can really work well if you learn to maximize the potential.
We also raised two sons in a 1095 square foot home. It could get a little crowded with 6" sons and their friends, but we are empty nesters now and it's the perfect size. Super easy to maintain and keep clutter free. I retired a couple of years ago, paid off our home, and have no debt. The best piece of mind ever!😊
Wow. Americans love big spaces. We live in a less than 1050 square feet house, also 4 of us ...and there is a room we don't even know it exists. 😂
Thank you for helping us to feel normal. I joined a small space living group on FB and got attacked for having a family of 7 in 1100 sq ft. Our home isn't necessarily aesthetically pleasing, but we're fine

There are no coincidences 😊 when I retired from work, I still kept the job of Church treasurer and financial secretary, it keeps me busy and I am giving back to my church which I love. I just had a thought...how about if we change "minimal" living to "mindful??" Which is exactly what you have done with your darling house! I love everything about it! Especially all the cupboard space! And so many clever extra storage solutions, like the picnic baskets, totes underneath the chair, etc. Your bath vanity holds so much storage, too! I love your beautiful home! If I could make a small suggestion: if you mount your tv on the wall it will free space for you to put those armchairs side by side in front of the sofa, or you could put them by the window. Plus, since you have a baby its always good to put tv on the wall, as it can be a hazard.
I love how you use your space! We are 5 in a 950 sq ft old farmhouse on 5 acres. Kids are 5, 3 and almost 1. Just downsized from 1400 sq ft and I’m totally in the mode of getting this place functional for us! Thank you for the inspo ❤️

Yea we are thinking about doing this as well. Really don't need a whole lot. Just a solid marriage and agreed upon parenting plan, other specifics don't really determine the happiness of a family 🤎

I truly believe that your an inspiration and the way you make everything work. I believe that everybody should be living in a more humble house and i also believe that is what father God want,s all of us to live . Your house reminds me so much of my first house. Only you have more closet space than I did. 2bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms about 970 sq ft. I had to get creative about storage space and using double duty furniture such as storage ottomans and enclosed end tables. It was small but it was ours and we were so proud of it. It was a fixer upper and it was easy to heat, cozy and cute on a quiet street. We outgrew it, 2 children of the opposite sex couldn’t share a room forever so we sold it and moved into our current 4 bedroom. The extra space is nice but the older I get, the more I miss that little house.I dream about downsizing again to a cozy house like our first but housing costs are so ridiculously high right now, we are staying put for now.
Our now adult children have fond memories of growing up in a 1,000 sqft home. Our girls shared a room and our son had his room (always the smallest he keeps saying at 38 years old LOL). We were a military family until my oldest was 11 years old and we lived in various sized homes until we became civilians, we chose to live in a smaller home because we never wanted to be house poor (big house, big expenses) because we wanted to provide for our family without stress or worry. We never felt cramped or having less than anyone else. FUNCTIONAL ORGANIZING is key and decluttering regularly is a must, but because of our military moves, I refined what was necessary and what was not and we have lived like that for over 40 years - I was a cozy minimalist before it became a thing. It can be done and the money saved on a mortgage and utilities and not acquiring things to fill up empty spaces (why do we feel the need to fill an empty closet or kitchen drawer or cabinet if we already have what we need?) allows one to enjoy their free time without worrying about bills and cleaning a huge space.
I raise 3 kids in a 990 square foot home as they started to grow up my oldest was about 12 we Finnish off our basement and made him a bedroom down there because he wanted his own space. Yes I live there for 38 years and once hubby decided to retired we move in a real area and bought a 1300 square foot home on basement one floor and were on a private road and a lot of land. Once hubbhealth started to decline were now live in apartment all on one floor and has attach garage t'about 1200 feet. We're loving it too. You can make a home into a nice pace to live and be content.

Thanks so much for this encouraging video. We're currently a family of 4 (with another baby on the way!) and will soon be moving into our first home after renting for 5 years. Its a small cottage with 1 bedroom and minimal storage in the country, but 2 acres of land. You just do what you need to do and make it work! We'll eventually add on to the house but it all takes time 😊

Wow, nice storage! Love the little blue dresser in the girls' room. I like your vintage kitchen cabinets. I would change the hardware to round wood knobs to match the counters. Just paint a clear coat on them. Cozy house!

Your home is absolutely beautiful! I love the storage space in the hallway! The little totes under the chairs and couch are genius. I love that idea. You have an extremely organized house. This gives me so much inspiration for mine. I have been trying to declutter my home, and I still have a ways to go. But it is already so much better than it was.

Hello Davee, I came over from Hillary’s Old World Home channel and am watching some of your more recent videos. You are so calm to watch. Very much enjoy your practical way of organizing and living. I’m 59, a full time homemaker. My husband and I live with our dog in about 1700 square feet. My daughter is grown and on her own. Recently we realized that we had more furniture than bottoms to sit on it so we downsized our furniture and reorganized all of our spaces. This is our forever home (Lord willing) so it’s a continual process of streamlining and organizing. More space sometimes just means more stuff. My mother in law recently passed and it took about 12 people to clean out her home to sell. Most of her things went to donation centers or a dumpster but she refused to part with anything when she was alive regardless of its condition. Lesson learned for us to be sure.
Thank you:) Stuff can really just add up in spaces quickly. When I pass, I hope that my family does not have loads of items to go through.
I have cupboard envy......we live in a tiny "two up, two down" mid terrace house which has very few wall cupboards and space is at a minimum. Thank you for the tour, really enjoyed it

I love the picnic basket toy storage! I’ve never seen that before. Baskets are my love language. We have a family of 5, small living area as well, so it was so nice to see how you utilize your family home while keeping it simple and oh so cozy. ❤❤

I like your home. It is functional, light and airy and cozy all at the same time. Keeping the color palette similar throughout the house gives it a nice feeling of cohesion and flow, making it seem roomy. Your kitchen is great. It is clean, functional, warm and looks like a great place for family suppers, or baking up a storm. I love the organization, especially. It's so important for keeping a house nice and comfortable. ❤️

Yea we downsized from a huge three bedroom house (idk how many sq ft) to a two bedroom. We can save more and achieve goals (family fun) quicker 💯 ive noticed a change in our children as well. Happier. Excited around the clock. Now that our rooms are much closer they are more content. Who knew? 🤷🏽♀️

Blessings on you for sharing what can be done with what you have. It looks great, especially the kitchen! We started with 723 sq. ft. (3 kids) but they were poorly laid out square feet. But the Lord taught me to make good use of it and to keep my 24 in. of counter space clear at all times. Good training! And I was really quick to clean!

I love the army trunk for a tv stand! I just wanted to comment and ask if you have done a quick lead test on it? I love old things but am finding as I refurbish things it's a good idea, especially since I have kids to make sure there is no lead. Love your video!

Beautiful home! Love your kitchen remodel. Our house is a little bit bigger but we have a finished basement. As the girls get older may I suggest a low bookshelf to hold the tv. We have a 9 cube shelf. Lots of great storage that is easily accessible. Great video!

I inherited our home it's actually 4 room house we have a entryway it had a door going into house we took down the 2nd door .. one coming in from outside also ..
The entrance way was at one time the front porch . Then was built in so the laundry room that off of entrance way was room outside on porch now its inside 😊 one bedroom
Without a closet they are a closet out on entrance way. It was built in 1960s..

What an enormous amount of storage and what a huge difference it makes when you don't have way too much to organize in the storage spaces! About 17 yrs ago we moved from an older home into a brand new 1450 sq ft home and the first thing I noticed was that the new home had lots of space but very little storage. I've had to be very creative about where things are stored LoL right now it's also canning season in my kitchen but it looks a lot more chaotic and sticky than yours does ....last night's project was pear juice and it was an adventure to be sure. Sticky juice and pulp everywhere 😂 Your home is lovely and you've made excellent use of the space you have .. good work 😊
The storage is for sure a bonus in this small home. LOL! Canning to me, makes my kitchen feel well used, but it also makes it feel rather gross and sticky. I guess that just means a good fall deep clean is coming for the kitchen.

I love your home.we too live in a small space. 900 square foot cape cod. We don't have a real basement either, just a small unfinished damp one for the hot water heater and washer dryer. Also like you, pretty much our entire home is thrift ed and FB marketplace. We love farmhouse/cottage style too.

Thank you for the home tour. Being organized is so important in a small house. We live in a small house also without a basement and without an attic. Our washer & dryer are in the kitchen not in a separate space. The only storage in our bathroom is under the sink. We do not have the drawers like you have.

I love your home! I have a similar size house, so its so nice to see how youve maximized storage space and still made the spaces beautiful! Can you share what paint color is used in your bedroom and living room? Love how light amd airy it looks
Thank you. I use Garden Stone for the living area, I think it was a Clark &Kensington brand. I'm not exactly sure. Then I used white dove for the bedroom which is Benjamin Moore.

Try rubbing some paste wax or a candle on your kitchen drawers to help them glide, it helps mine!
