Wendy's transition from a 2,200 square foot traditional home to a 399 square foot tiny home is a major change that highlights the benefits of downsizing. She shares how she carefully selected only her most meaningful and useful possessions to bring into her new home, making the most of the limited space while maintaining comfort and style.
Tour Wendy’s Spacious Tiny Home
Step inside Wendy's beautifully designed 399 square foot tiny home, which defies the typical constraints of small living spaces. With a media wall, a large TV, and a cozy living area, Wendy proves that you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for a smaller footprint. Her home also features a raised living room with 18 inches of storage underneath, providing ample space to keep things organized and out of sight.
A Kitchen That Feels Like Home
Wendy’s kitchen is a standout feature of her tiny home. At 13.5 feet high, it feels open and spacious, with a movable island that seats four and plenty of storage options. She added custom pullout drawers to maximize accessibility and efficiency, making cooking and meal prep a breeze. Wendy also shares clever storage hacks, like using magnetic shelves for spices, to make the most of every inch.
The Perfect Bathroom in a Tiny Space
Wendy's bathroom is another highlight, offering ample counter space, storage, and a 39-inch shower that is just the right size. The bathroom also features a Hollywood mirror, providing excellent lighting for makeup and grooming, and adjustable display cabinets for added convenience.
A Cozy Ground Floor Bedroom
Wendy’s tiny home includes a ground floor bedroom, an essential feature for her as she wanted to avoid climbing ladders in the middle of the night. The bedroom is equipped with a queen-size Hydrolift bed with storage underneath, hers-and-hers closets, and modern lighting options, making it a comfortable and functional space.
Creating a Functional Workspace in a Tiny Home
Wendy designed her loft area as a dedicated workspace, carefully measuring to fit the largest possible desk while maintaining a cozy and productive environment. As a past life energy healer, Wendy uses this space to work with clients, helping them release pain, anxiety, and stuck energy.
Finding the Perfect Location for a Tiny Home
After an extensive search, Wendy found the ideal spot to park her tiny home, paying $500 a month for rent, including water, sewer, and snow removal. She shares her experience of finding a welcoming community and the process of selecting a location that met her needs, especially being close to her family.
What’s Next for Wendy?
Wendy’s journey doesn’t end here. She plans to eventually purchase her own land and move her tiny home there, allowing her to invest in property that will appreciate in value over time. This next step represents her continued commitment to living simply and intentionally.

I really love this home. Plenty of living & kitchen space. Nice size bathroom & so much storage in bedroom. She has decorated it beautifully too.
What people don’t understand is even when you purchase land, almost all states do NOT allow you to park RV, Mobile Homes,trailers , park models as per their ordinances. Also people don’t realize a septic tank which you will need is about $22,000 and up
Your water tank if it’s dig is about $25,000 and up and you still need electric hook up unless you are run on propane. We built a log home and you just have no idea how difficult it is to build ON YOUR OWN Land. People think if it’s their land they can do what they want. Nope. Each county has ordinances that do not allow “ tiny homes”.
That is why we built in Tennessee. We purchased three unrestricted acres for $30k near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We were required to have an electrical inspection for a few hundred, about $10k for a 300 foot deep well by an authorized and licensed driller and our contractor for the septic was only about $4k about 5 years ago. We were our own contractor so we paid cash as we went about $80k, so no mortgage. Also we can apply for a special permit and put our tiny 14 x 16 cabin or our 600 square foot home on overnight or short term rental.
This home is absolutely gorgeous! It’s the best set up I’ve seen. She has decorated it beautifully and I can see why she’s in love with it. I hope she finds the land she wants. It would be great to see a follow-up.

One of the nicest designs I have seen. The raised area is exceptional, ground floor bedroom w/built in storage & walk in closets. The bathroom is just right! The loft w/regular stairs & extra room is also awesome!

I’m just excited there’s a second loft for my 2 cats, I can’t believe how great the space was utilized throughout the home, so much storage. Never thought about a raised living room but it’s so cozy, love it.

I think this is the best layout of a tiny home I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe how much storage it has. Beautiful! And the fact that it has a downstairs bedroom, right next to the bathroom… that part totally sells it for me. Also, the kitchen has everything that a regular sized house has and full sized appliances, plus a movable island. I’m an artist and I currently live in a tiny apartment, the size of a lot of walk in closets I’ve seen. lol, so when I’m working on a larger piece of art, my whole apartment becomes one big mess. It’s challenging but if I had this particular tiny house, I could use that upstairs office space as my studio. I’m just dreaming. 🙂

I love this house. The high space rental costs are usually why I wouldn't consider moving to a tiny home, but $500 is very reasonable. In California, it is very difficult to find a reasonable place to park a tiny home. The cost of my condo isn't higher than a tiny home, but the tiny home's much lower utility costs versus a condo (I have very high ceilings in a very hot area) are what will eventually force me to go tiny.

I think this is my very favorite tiny home I’ve ever seen ! It is so pretty ! 🌸💕😃👏 the pretty storage cubbies , her colors , that entertainment wall , the corner sink with display cabinet are great features . Love how she had to retain her Grandmas desk and other beautiful pieces that are a connection to her life , so meaningful , this would add to quality of life for myself .
