So few famous bands truly understand what it means to work for the fans and simply entertain. So many bands and artists indulge in so many self serving things. You hear bands that talk about getting tired of playing their hits, etc... Status Quo made an art form out of delivering the goods repeatedly, and excellently.
The song that Status Quo cover, and "The Simpson's Sing The Blues" spoof, is "No Particular Place to Go" by Chuck Berry. You've probably heard it a million times.
Back when this was released, there was another, 'act', called Jive Bunny who basically mixed together bits of older songs and managed to get to the top of the charts with it. Quo decided to show them how it should be done with their anniversary waltz, which they quipped as, 'it's live, sonny.' This is what's commonly known as a medley of songs. In particular, these are from the late 50's/early 60's rock 'n' roll area. The songs in question are, 'Let's Dance', (Chris Montez), 'Red River Rock', (Johnny And The Hurricanes), 'No Particular Place To Go', (Chuck Berry), 'The Wanderer' (Dion), 'I Hear You Knocking' (Smiley Lewis), 'Lucile', (Little Richard) and, 'Great Balls Of Fire', (Jerry Lee Lewis.) The single managed to get to no.2 in the UK charts. Incidentally, they released a full version of, 'The Wanderer', back in 1984, which managed to get to no.7 in the UK charts of that year. There is a part 2, which has another selection of similar songs. The strange this is, part 2 actually comes first. There's a version of both parts that run into each other on TH-cam, lasting approximately 10 minutes in length. Maybe that's worth checking out? The success of this single led on to them doing 3 cover albums over the next 13 years. The first one, called, 'Don't Stop', from 1996 wasn't bad. The second one, 'Famous In The Last Century', from 2000 wasn't as good, despite having some classic songs on it, and the third one, 'Riffs', from 2003, was forced out of them if they wanted to release an album of their own material by the record producers. Other tracks for your consideration are:- 'Someone's Learning' 'Slow Train' 'Little Lady/Most Of The Time' 'Can't Give You More' 'Come Rock With Me/Rockin' On' 'What You're Proposing' 'Mountain Lady' 'Dear John' 'End Of The Line'
There is a part 2 that´s just as good and then for quo at their most intense, check out "Roadhouse blues". Also "Roll over lay down", "Break the rules" and "Down the dustpipe" are really good ones too.
yeah the Telecaster Brigade strikes again !! fun fact... both parts of this awesome medley were produced by the same guy that conducted the symphonic parts of a lot Nightwish compositions together with Tuomas Holopainen, the one and only famous Pip Williams. shared it ofc. to the Reacticide Discord.... greetings from a dutch Fendernerd, living in Allemania ...keep on rocking in a free world .....
Rick, Alan and Francis had been playing basically since the age of 14. broadly meeting up at Butlins in North Wales as one of the resident entertainment bands. Six months of nightly playing the hits of the day gets you into being able to do this really without thinking
They met Rick at Butlins Minehead, ( not North Wales) Rick was in a trip called the Highlights, Francis ( then called Mike) and Allan along with John Coghlan and Roy Lunes were a band called the Scorpion's Rick used to go watch them on his time off. They then kept in touch when the season ended, and recruited Rick as second guitarist and vocalist.
This was kind of a reaction about ht e"Jive Bunny" medleys that came out in the 80s (Look it up) of old american hits.. But Quo did it properly, nonstop and made it Live too! :)
Was a quo fan from back in the 70s, when I was a kid, & 1st heard them, ! born May 23rd 1968, from northern Ireland UK, 🤝 , just ask have the quo , doing the song, 4500 times,?
This was not the begging of the end but the end of the begging of the end. Most 70's fans had no stomach for this Butlins holiday camp fodder. The band turned full circle and there's nothing wrong with that. At least we got Hello and Quo....both still stand up and have legs.

Love Status Quo
There’s not many bands that could get permission to release so many covers. The Quo is one.
I remember when this first came out. Absolutely blew my mind. Seen Quo doin this live as well! Still one of my favourites

Pity they became a cabaret pop band. Just sad.
Nooooooooo, not this era!! Stick to Quo up to 1981!!!!!
This particular song isn't very good, but there is lots of Quo after 1981 that is great.
Right, this is dribble. Early stuff rules.
please STOP pausing its so annoying
