- Exciting for sure! Join us for a multi purpose video today and for a new mini series that will undoubtedly be fun, and educational! Today we finally got confirmation that a goose is using the goose nesting platform that Sharon set up about 3 years ago. So we decided to set up one of our Reolink Argus Eco security cameras with a solar panel on the goose nest to bring you (and us) some up close and up to the minute action at the goose nest! Also in this video I will show you how to use Reolink security cameras as trail cams, and if you have wifi near by, how you can cheat the cellular trail cam system for free! That's correct, if you have wifi nearby, and use this method you can pull up all of your Reolink camera's 24/7 from your cell phone on the Reolink app. Heck, you can even set up email alerts to be send to your phone or email any time the motion sensor's are triggered. And yes, all for no extra or monthly costs at all! We have multipe reolink argus eco cameras set up on my food plots as well as around the property for security cameras. This is a very affordable way to accomplishing 2 things at once with no recurring payments, like you would have if you were using cellular trail cameras. And the quality and options are far greater this way than with trail cameras. With the Reolink cameras you can customize so many things with the Reolink app that I seriously cannot list them all here. We enjoy sharing not only our country living and wildlife lifestyle but also things like this, the lessons that we've learned over the years so we might be able to help others as well, and this camera system is really a neat thing. Thanks for joining us, and don't forget if you want to follow along on this goose nest cam adventure to hit the like button and subscribe to tag along! She liked that sage grass great video Kapper you and Mrs Kapper are doing great be safe and GOD BLESS y’all Amen 🙏
Thanks, you too!
Thank you! I just put some more out there today since she should lay again tomorrow.
This is going to be fun. Thanks for showing the start up footage!
Thank you and I hope we can celebrate this spring!!
Kap, I like the Reolink camera idea, especially since it can replace your trail-cams. Not only that but the Reocam pics are live. I need to think about how to use a WiFi booster outside. Our Satellite service is already so severely slow that anything that has to use the WiFi is a major undertaking. Mrs K is such a wonderful provider. She took the time to gather grass and brush for Mamma goose to boost her existing nest. Since it takes 28 to 35 days for goose eggs to hatch, we should see goslings around 12 to 19 April. Good work getting out to the nest to provide for the geese. 👍🏽🙂
Thanks bud, I really like this camera setup so far. The booster was pretty easy, just ties in to your internet wifi router. Lets hope the raccoons don't find this one! Take care
Awe thanks! I know how difficult raising a family is, just trying to help a momma out 🙂
@@CedarBluffRustics Good job Mamma K. 🙂 we have a Mamma deer and her now grown fawns as well as a pair of foxes that come by each night for their treats.
Glad to see she's laid eggs, hopefully they'll stay there and hatch them. Good luck, can't wait to see the next video.
I hope so too, thank you
I love the last comment Mrs K. Joes reaction says it all LOL. “Hmm what’s this new toy you’re bringing home” LOL!!!!
LOL I know it man!! She does not need to know EVERY piece of incredibly business valued equipment that I buy!!! (aka toys :)
😂 I know! So glad I got it on camera!
That's awesome the geese are using the nesting platform this year! Good to see she is taking advantage of using the extra grass you added! The cam will be cool to check them out!
After 3 years we have some hope anyways! But lots of darn raccoons and crows and such!! Stay tuned, fingers crossed!
Thanks for sharing this with us take care and hope you and everyone is have/having a nice week
Thanks for hopping in the boat with us!
@@CedarBluffRustics Your very welcome glad I could come along 👍
Did you get their permission to record them? Kidding, cool stuff Kapper!
We have a signed contract in hand 😉
@@CedarBluffRustics Haha, nice!
ha ha good point! Guess this IS Illinois you know.... :)
Mrs K that sounds like a great idea. We need a Kapper Cam!!
😅 Darrin, careful what you ask for!
If they would of had this technology back when my dad was alive I'm sure we would have done it. We built so many floating geese nest and some mounted to poles in ponds and when the ponds were froze over we would get bales of straw and go all over the country side here in iowa and place straw in all the nesting barrels
Well, I agree you guys would have got some stellar footage no doubt! We are cautiously optimistic, but the predators come from the ground, the water and the air!!
That exciting idea! I am going to steal the idea and come up with some good ideas like yours!
Go for it!
I remember the first time video on the nest box
Hi, looks good. Can you do a detailed video on your wifi booster and have links to what you need and how to install. What range do you get with the setup you have. Thanks
I may at some point, but it is pretty easy. The wifi booster just ties in to your home internet wifi router, and you have to run it outside to a nice high point, and ground it. I bet there has to be some vids on it already? My farthest camera is probably 500 yards or so through some trees, but not a whole bunch of trees. So far it is a great system, best of luck to you, thank you
Cool Beans!! Momma goose is going to enjoy her free meal delivery. I can hear her and poppa goose "honey , did you order pizza?" "nah, I didn't order pizza, I ordered Kapper's Katering" peace and love, y'all
😂 I'll spoil her as much as I can! I just have to keep it less than Joe so he doesn't get jealous.
@@CedarBluffRustics aww he will melt when those baby geese are born. He will be glued to that camera screen
I hope they don’t abandon the platform this year. Especially since y’all put up a nest cam!🤞🏼🤞🏼
I agree! We aren't sure if we will see a stealthy racoon swim over at night for an omelet, or another bird predator or eventually see ducklings swimming behind proud momma. Hoping for the best outcome 😏
@@CedarBluffRustics Keep is updated ok?!
Really cool ! Joe what kind of internet do you have is it DSL? Wondered if you had ordered a StarLink?
Thanks Brett. We have high speed fiber!!
@@kapperoutdoors Joe that’s awesome.
Joe, sounds like you opened a can of worms up with those cameras with the miss's LOL That is pretty cool with your live cam. I have the reolink cell cams because currently we do not have wifi available. Waiting on starlink to come our way. Reolink are good cameras though. I like ours for security.
Good idea with the security cameras. The animal life in the area can be observed and controlled very well. More videos of animals, please - an animal or a goose can also be recorded through the glass ball, Mrs. Kapper. 🤞🏼🙄🤞🏼 Haahaaaaaaa, my old Computer doesn't have a smilieopinion - but I can copy and paste smilies from the comments below.
Thank you. We have lots of wildlife footage built up, but for some reason those videos don't get any traction at all!!
Hey Kapper going to have some goose babies
I've often thought it would be preferable over buying trail cameras on amazon (and likely having half of them stolen) if I could design a trail camera with either wifi or LoRa radios using off-the-shelf components, set up my trail cameras so they can make a mesh network with each other, and make a sort of recording/data hub that can store videos as they come in from the cameras or at least shortly after recording.
That way I could have my network of trail cameras, design it so they can share data, and if/when cameras are eventually stolen I still have the footage from those cameras saved to the recording hub that is placed somewhere for best data transmission where it's a lot less likely to be seen and stolen vs ground level trail cameras that tempt sticky fingers. I know I could theoretically have the same effect from an LTE trail cam off the shelf but then every time one is stolen I'm out a lot more money, plus I always prefer to DIY if there's something to learn.
Thanks for the video!
Sounds like you'd have quite the project there! But with tech getting better every day, you can now download via your phone pics or vids from the camera. Thanks have a good one
Nice... we are all going to enjoy that.
I hope so! But we'll see if mother nature is cruel again this year or not..
Should be interesting on who's gonna be on the cam more, the goose family or kapper lol😆😉👍...
😅 on second thought, maybe another camera on him wasn't the best idea?
Very cool Kapper keep us posted! How far will the wifi booster broadcast a signal? I might have to look into these cameras
Depends on terrain and trees and such, but quite a long ways. I think my farthest cam so far is about 500 yards (more than a 1/4 mile) and that is even through a patch of trees. It is a really nice setup! Good luck thanks.
@@kapperoutdoors cool thanks for the feedback, do you happen to have a model number of the WiFi booster you use? Also I’m assuming the camera runs on batteries and uses a solar panel to recharge?
@@noral101 Don't recall the wifi booster. I tried to balance the DB (decibel gain), good reviews and price on it. Yeah I think they have internal batteries with the solar charger. Still running several of them we put in a few years ago, no issues. Love the solar panels and recharging!
Ty... This will be fun to watch.. any possibility of making more floating nests?? Stay safe 💓
Since we have a mom finally using it I think we will next year 🙂
Set up lookin really good 👍 surprised Mr K didn't have his fishin pole with him to demonstrate to u how to catch a 15lb Bass Mrs K 🙄😁😁 if u get some spare cameras Mrs K u probably find him out at fishin practice 🤔😂😂
😄 he did throw a few casts when we got back in but nothing to video 🙂
🐋🐳the ones that got away 🙄😂😂
Awesome!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love the camera!!
Could you have mounted the booster on your ham radio tower? When we lived on a small lake I built a raft with boards and 2 inch Styrofoam doubled on bottom, then anchored with a heavy rope and chain around a concrete block for Muscovy ducks so they would stay off my dock. You could use plastic barrels cut in half long ways.
Yes I would think it would have increased the range substantially, however, I don't know exactly how that wifi booster's antenna's radiate, so it is possible to get them 'too high.' But I'm with you, most likely I think they'd work fantastic.
A CAMERA ON OLE JOE ALL DAY----YOU GOT THAT RIGHT MRS K... LMBO
😄 on second thought, I might not want to see that...
Clark, just imagine all of the WONDEROUS STUFF YOU WOULD SEE EVERY DAY!!!
LMAO
You guys have all the good toys.......................😮😮😮😮😣😣😣😣🙄🙄🙄🙄😎
Just checked out Reo Link which model did you get Argus 1-2- or3 ?
It is the Argus ECO and has the rubber duck antenna. Good system if you have wifi nearby!
What u using for floatation?
Would be great to have on your website a live view?
It would. We haven't quit figured that out yet 🤔
Geese have a better chance of getting young reerd on pontoon than on land come on KAPPER make more pontoons lake looks like ltd big enough to take more nesting pods.
In the plans for next year! 🙃
It would be neat if you could make that cam live on the geese, so when WE get bored we could watch them. I'm not interested in the hubby cam, though. We see him in videos already...🙄
Lol, I'm almost afraid what of i might see on the hubby cam!😄
@@CedarBluffRustics like maybe TMI?
I agree that would be cool, but we are not quite set up yet for a true live cam! Maybe at some point we will be! For now I guess you'll just have to keep seeing the 'Kapper cam!' LOL
@@kapperoutdoors at least it's not the hubby cam. It would be a shame if we saw more of you than your wife does...🙄
I wish all the geese would go to your house because they scare the bejeezus out of me.
Lol, if we had a bunch of them they'd scare me too! This pair seems pretty docile so far except when another male flies in. Cat fight!
Do you have an eagles or osprey nest?
We see eagles in the area but haven't found a nest yet. That nest would be incredible to see!
@@CedarBluffRustics Put a camera on them carefully placed. They will help to draw to channel to do some live feeds, while the chicks are raised.

A coon will wipe out a nest of eggs quick
yep, lets hope they don't find this one!
I guess you know that you are in violation of goose privacy laws...
We're 'big tech,' so we have a complete & total exemption....
😅
BORING 😴
It's called content variety! Just like viewers and their varying likes and dislikes 😉
