I appreciate when people clearly state what needs improvement on a product. It's good for potential buyers as well as good info for the company that makes them.
Thanks Rick, it's been 4 years now, are you still happy with Lorax. I'm not really a tech guy, but I need to install some security. Are the new Lorax setups upgraded ? Have you looked at the new Costo Lorax setups ?
I just purchased Lorex 6 Camera 8 Channels from Cosco and your video encouraged me to go with brand and couple of reviews, your video is fantastic really likeit, thanks a lot.
I'm just building my new home and I am going to purchase a lorex camara system for the third time. I bought my first system from lorex in 2016 and after hurricane Maria I was living in Puerto Rico and some of the cameras got damage. I went and purchase a new system for the second time. It's working very well. I am very happy with this product. I sold my house and I am getting my third system from lorex. My wife and I Love the system. It's easy to use and the service is great.
Yeah I considered wireless cameras as well. However, the wireless cameras I tested only recorded 2 minutes at max and drained the battery real quick. Ended up getting the lorex so I can record 24/7. Your tutorial with the lorex software was really helpful!

Thanks for the feedback haus. I was pretty sure I'd pickup this system and this is the third video I watched on the subject and helped solidify my perspective. Cheers my man.
I have a Lorex system & just like my old system I always purchase a 6 - 8 TB harddrive & swap out for the larger drive. It gives me about a month and a half of saved footage. All in all the system is good for me. This review was great thanx.
You can change the lenses on all these lorex / dahua / hik cameras and get any zoom you want. It's all based on field of view. The default lens on a bullet cam is like 2.8mm. Takes 10 minutes or less to replace it with a narrower field of view (closer zoon). Maybe a couple screws to undo, remove old lens -- usually threadlockered in -- screw in new lens while it's hooked up and make sure it's focused. Then reassemble. New lense will run you
Hi Rick, you said everything. Great advice for new users. I work with Lorex for over 8yrs. Just one tip for system IP 4k I use Amcrest cameras. It work great with Lorex, and customers happy. Better zoom, better fish eye, and everyone with better microphone.
Rick, thx for this video…. A breath of fresh air…what we consumers need !! Better the most of the reviews…uhh.. actually the new form of advertising, that you’re not sure to believe. Bravo
This is a well made video by an excellent speaker. Rick does not bore and is refreshingly succinct in his dissertation. No dead air space or vanity; and no arrogance! Rick is straight to the point! I just had a six cam Lorex system professionally installed for $1400; system cost $400 at Costco. I am not at all pleased with it, but I have only had it a week and maybe I don’t understand how it works yet. Have not read instructions or called Lorex, but thought the installer would have been more helpful to teach me the ropes. I dislike the cams.there are lights only on some cams, but they are worthless anyway, and no voice. Cams are grainy. . Every cam must load Every time I want to see it. Videos are jerky. You could never make out detail. I really hate this system. It freezes up my phone at times- so if I saw someone in the yard I couldn’t call the cops anyway! Uggh!
thank you for the nice comment, sorry your having some issues with your system, call Lorex make sure you are setup properly, maybe some settings are not good yet. What system model did you get?
I have the Lorex 400 series 16 ch cameras with 12 cameras installed. 8 of the cameras are Lorex dome PTZ cameras, 3 Lorex bullet cameras and one Dahua fisheye ONVIF protocol rated camera. I have my NVR since 2020 and gradually upgraded cameras through 2022. I am overall pleased with the purchase though not without its challenges. 1) the non-Lorex Onvif fish eye camera required configuration to work with Lorex NVR. Yes, it is doable and non Lorex cameras as long as ONVIF compliant works with the NVR. However for any power interruptions, it kicks it offline though it is a quick switching back to Camera to ONVIF setting from the NVR. The only reason I pick up a fish eye is to cover 360 deg on my 2nd floor without having to invest in 2 cameras. 2) the HDMI port got damaged because my NVR is placed in an area where the cable is curved at an angle because of the tight space. I tried to replace it but the HDMI itself is Lorex proprietary and not available to purchase. Soldering is out of the question because the pins that connect to the board snapped. My fix is using a VGA to HDMI adapter to hook the NVR to my TV. Also I highly recommend to plug your NVR to a good power surge and UPS to protect from power surge. Learned this when a power surge fried the power supply of the NVR. Quick fix but a hassle. I used APC UPS 650 VA. Down the line, I’d probably upgrade to the Lorex Fussion to allow wireless Lorex cameras to be saved in the drive.
The biggest and best think about Lorex is that their system works both backward and forward. Meaning the tech can be older or new and Lorex has your back. If you have the BNC cable of the system, you can add wireless
Thanks Rick for your feedback, I am a Lorex customer for a long time, I have a WiFi system installled almost eight years ago and still up & running no issues with an old app Lorex SD Pro. I recently got my Fusion NVR and connected my two Pan tilt cameras. So far so good with Wi-Fi cameras. I really like about Lorex is a customer service very responsive and always there to help. I would defenately recommend Lorex.
I got my Lorex 4K Ultra NVR system right before you posted your first video on you purchase of your system. Mine has worked flawless also. Thank you for the time you spend and the info you provided.
I use mine to monitor lawn conditions while at work. I'm even thinking of buying a few more cameras just for that. Worked great also for catching a hit and run driver who hit a car parked in front of my home. I was able to use the camera footage....and audio....to trace where the driver went. The next day we found his car parked a few blocks down....got pictures of the his license, the damage on his car, and called the police who watched the footage and immediately investigated the person and cited him for hit and run. Without the footage we would have had no idea what car to look for.
Hi Rick! You said just about everything I have been thinking about my lorex system. I bought mine thru Amazon with 6 cameras and I just added 2 more. So far I have caught 2 coyotes eating my neighbors cat (sad), a catalytic converter thief (driving a newer mercedes, believe it or not) and a drive by shooter from around the corner. Unfortunately because it was 1130 at night, all I could see of the shooters car was a red blur as he was flying past my house. When you have cameras the neighbors knock on the door asking if I saw anything. Then the police knocked on my door asking about the shooter. I also have ezviz wireless cameras as well as a wireless reolink that I mounted to a street sign hoping to catch license plates. The lorex system is the most reliable, the wireless systems are easier to place, but are prone to drop out or are late in activating. Anyone who would ask me what I would recommend, the lorex system would be my first response. Followed by, "get a doorbell camera." Most people don't look up at your cameras, but they all look down at the doorbell camera. Thanks for the video!
@@guadalupeceballos8176 You are welcome. Don't forget to purchase a doorbell camera. That camera will get a perfect picture of who is in front of your door and will get a picture of any package thieves. Burglars will also knock on your door to see if anyone is home and then break in thru the back of your house. A wired doorbell camera is always ON. A battery powered doorbell camera will take a second to turn on. By that time the thief has your package and you will only have a picture of the back of their head. Thanks!
@@QuincyKintay Hi. I use a Ezviz DB1 system. There are a dozen reviews of different models. Each will have their strengths and weaknesses. If your door is facing south, the camera could be blinded by the sun. If it is in a dark area and there is too much sun behind the person, you won't get a clear picture of the person. Take your time before choosing and look at the reviews. Hope that helps.
I'm a bit late to this party, but Lorex does now offer what they call Fusion NVRs that can connect both wired and wireless cameras (as well as other sensors) together all on the same system. You'd need to update your NVR, but you could probably keep your existing cameras. I've been looking into security cameras lately and the Lorex has my eye for sure.
@@RickvanderValk14 Hi Rick. SO new to this and wondering, is the Fusion any better, and if so, could you do a review, please? Thanks so much! Looking forward to more great content!
@@happyfamily3372 fusion has some additional things like the ability to integrate wireless to it like indoor cameras, door bell etc. I will do a review on it as well.
I've had a lorex 8 bullet camra system for about 3 or 4 years now and friends of mine all have different system and I think most of them are buying a lorex system next , I've not had a issue ever with my system .
I too bought the Arlo and returned it for the same reasons as you stated, bought the Lorex but the feature I liked about the Arlo is " Geo Fencing " whereas the notifications are shut off when you are connected to wifi. Which is nice because you don't have to remember to turn them on when leaving home.
Nice Vid thanks. Going to check out your others for sure. I am new to Lorex. Got my bundle at Costco too. 18 channels with 8 wired cams. Have added 3 additional and my first PTZ cam. You hit the head on the nail about the OS. I find it very difficult to navigate the UI to adjust the system. Hoping you have some vids on that topic.
Lorex has been good for me. I have had no system issues - no reboots needed. Granted I still don’t have my cameras mounted but I have one looking over my cats liter box and one in my indoor garden rack. Lawn guy said the window broke so I thankfully had cameras at the basement window and saw if it cracked or not. No issues with exporting video footage. The only con I have is the lack of storing the video footage on a network share. I understand you can connect a usb drive and then storage it there but I want to offload it to a network drive.
I purchased a Lorex bundle directly from the Lorex website, I purchased the 16 Channel with the nocturnal color cameras with audio. I also purchased another bundle for my parents. I have no regrets at all. My security cameras is still ahead of other brands. I’m just waiting for 8k cameras to become available and then I’ll upgrade to a larger HDD.
Hi. As a Lorex user, can you record from from the phone app and save to phone? Or do you need to pull saved video from actual NVR unit via a memory stick? I need to save recording easily but I know "older" Lorex systems you have to save from main unit. Hoping they've updated tech to save/share from phone app. Thanks in advance!
I'm in the process of looking for a security video solution and am surprised that I'm now looking at NVR systems. I found your video/thoughts to be very insightful and helpful. Thank you.
I live in an apartment, so it makes it harder to install a system, because hard wiring cameras through walls is not an option. I went with a Reolink system that came with a DVR and Poe cameras. I use a combination of wired and Reolink wireless cameras to get the coverage I need. The wireless cameras will link up to the DVR and footage will be recorded on the DVR. The wireless cameras can also record to a micro-SD card so that is an added bonus. I went with a combination of both types of cameras, because I tried an all wi-fi camera system and it tends to bog down the wi-fi. It is now becoming more common for a thief to jamb the wi-fi systems of a house they are breaking into. Unfortunately, I have to use 3 DVRs because I use wired cameras in different areas that I can't connect to one DVR because I can't run wires through the wall. I can connect to all the DVRs at once through the Reolink app so I can monitor all the cameras. I use a 32-inch HD TV next to my regular TV to monitor the cameras. It is interesting to be watching TV, but if something catches my eye on the camera monitor, I can see what is going on. After a while of doing this, you can multitask watching TV and the camera monitor without realizing you are doing it. I also run 2 different routers for wi-fi. I run one router for security and home automation, and a separate router for everything else. If one router dies, I can transfer everything over to one router till I can replace the bad one. The best thing is, it is very reliable and except for a little maintenance I don't spend much time maintaining the system. I clean the camera lens when needed and format the hard drive and micro-SD cards every so often and that's about it.
they are pretty much all the same in that respect. I would say however if you have a good system, you will record somebody coming up to the house to cut power..you would have that footage when the power is restored. The system is about not only capturing things but also acts as deterrent to people who are looking for easy targets. Plus a security system is one layer in your home defence. You have deadbolts, locks, sensors etc. All in the hopes that each layer either makes your house less attractive or slows people down.
@@RickvanderValk14 Great points for NVR or DVR systems. However, this would be a pro of battery powered cameras on the market. I decided to go battery powered and cloud based. Of course there are cons here as well. I do agree the sheer presence of a camera is a deterrent. Thanks for the vid!
I have a similar system bought at costco. Eight cams zero problems. I wish they offered LPR cameras to work on this same system. License plate recognition
Looks like Lorex listened to you and other customers on needs as their fusion line appears to offer the mix of wired and wifi. Looking into security for my house upgrading from Wireless based yearly paid services for cameras that you can't see diddly and don't really get the job done when you need them to. Great video. Will watch your other on the installation. Perhaps it's something I can do myself and not have to call the electrician. Thanks again!
Thank you for a very informative explanation of the Lorex 4K Security System. I like the POE system but I am a bit curious about the 2nd connector on the camera labeled “power.”
they do offer, actually have for a while, varifocal kit. if you're looking to grab license plates a specific camera will be needed and the angle/distance is important. if you're playing back 4 screens of 4K RESOLUTION yes it will take up resources.
You can already cast to TV with Lorex or any other cam system with HDMI output as there are lots of HDMI transmitters and receivers. This tech has been around for several years already. You can usually pick up a transmitter and receiver set for about $30, but if you are already using the one HDMI line to a monitor somewhere, you will need an HDMI splitter as well to add more HDMI outs.
Hey, I appreciate the making this video. I purchased one of the same systems with 9 Cameras almost a year ago and just now I will install it. One thing for sure is that I will not buy wireless wen it comes to security! Why? Wireless is unreliable vs wired. I as a videographer u zest and perfectly the pro and cons of wireless. However, I will be filming the installation from start to finish and upload the video. I have my stepson helping me.inly to fish the wires. Talk soon! Spring Hill, Florida USA
THanks Rick, very useful. I just had a car break in, and it was petty, but time to buy a good home security camera. Your review on Lorex 4K really helps, thanks!
Lorex is now owned by Taiwanese company, which is good. The new one in costco has 4x optical zoom and color night vision. But it doesn't mention it having sound detection. I am in the US.
Hi Rick, i have a question, in case the thief enter the house stole everything and the nvr and is there possible way for playback what happen before the thief disconnect the nvr?
Lores offers 4K motorized vario-focal lense cameras that are incredible. P.S. - Lorex has come out with many new models just recently, one that allows up to 8 wired AND up to 8 Wi-Fi cameras all on one NVR, plus they revamped their software and it’s so much better!
A big problem with the wireless cameras is that they stop working in extreme cold. Probably only an issue in Canada and some of the northern United States but if that’s where you live you want to primarily be looking at the wired systems
I bought the Lorex 8 camera 5mp system for my house. It is easy to work for playback and zooming in on objects. So a year later I bought a 32 camera 4k system nvr system for my business. I did get 8 zoom able lense 4k cameras and the other 24 are standard digital zoom cameras. A mix of bullet and dome cameras. Picture quality is great. As with you I hardly have to touch either system. But when I want to do a playback the NVR system seems harder to use to do zooms and pausing on than the other analog system I have at home. The apps are also different and the NVR app is harder again to use. Lorex Home is better than Lorex Cloud in my opinion for ability to use the app. Lorex customer support was great, had an issue with my NVR, they sent me a new one and needed a little assistance trying to set my NVR up using wireless repeaters to a poe switch then to outdoor cameras. My home system is 8 analog with 1 wifi doorbell camera and I can tell alexe to view front door and it displays on my TV. Would I buy another Lorex system... YES.... that will only happen if I move or this one blows up. Lol. Now analog or nvr.... NVR hands down has a better picture... 4k vs 5mp. Also it was easier to wire one wire than the 2 analog cables. And I did not like the idea of having batteries in a WiFi camera. Lorex doorbell camera is powered by the electric to the doorbell so no batteries and I was thinking about the spot light camera that is hardwired to electric and wifi from lorex as an add on.
Just found your channel. Just purchased 2 4K duel-field wifi units Black Friday. I’m sure if that’s all I need but great after seeing your video and knowing this is a great product! I hope I didn’t miss anything in my purchase. I still have cyber Monday. Would you suggest also purchasing something for inside the home or garage?
Yes they have improved quite a bit. My whole wish you could have wireless and wired together scenario is now true thanks to Fusion NVRS they sell, they have also added a lot of new devices to the ecosystem like door bells, wireless cameras, lights, sensors etc. Was there one thing in mind you wanted to know?
@@RickvanderValk14 Yes. I'm looking at model NC4K4F-164, 8 cameras for my home. It has audio-in, but I can't tell if it has audio-out, and Lorex chat hasn't answered. That being said, how's their cust. svc.? Is 4T enough memory in your opinion? Did you get the junction boxes for under the eaves? Thanks
@@WHYBS I looked couldnt tell either on the audio out. I have had pretty good luck with customer service. They have an 800# and have always resolved whatever issue I have had. 4TB for 8 cameras should give you about a weeks worth of footage. For me that is plenty since i can review footage from remote..If I was away on vacation for more than a week if i saw something happen on the app i can locally record it to my phone...I did not get junction boxes see this link for my install th-cam.com/video/5HeZjHEQt3g/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=RickvanderValk . Also if you click link on my video it links to current deals at lorex which may help you. Good luck hope you like it.
@@WHYBS oh ya one last thing, the system you are getting is not the fusion brand so keep that in mind if you hoped to install any wireless stuff down the road. With fusion you can have both wired and wireless cameras record to the NVR. Without it you can still see wired and wireless on your Lorex Cloud app on your phone but your wireless devices will record locally to a microsd card on board of the device like a doorbell for example. With fusion you can record to both the doorbell local but also the NVR. the benefit there is if somebody stole the doorbell I would still be able to see footage on NVR. Tradeoffs...Your system has 30FPS which is a bonus and also great low light cameras. Really depends what the use case for you.
My Lorex is older with 1080P I use 3,systems because of changing needs. I think there are 6 Lorex wired, 4 Lorex powered cameras on wifi because not feasible to hard wire and 3 Arlo for moving around as needed. Raccoons and other things that go bump in the night. Sometimes I lose some of my vantage points when these leaves are on the trees so I supplement with other solutions. I see there's a Lorex converter to 4K cameras without changing wires so I want to investigate that. We are in BC
Have had mine for 3 years. Got a new phone and new Internet provider and it has never worked again. It asked for passwords that I have no clue what there asking for. It is by far the most complicated system I have ever used!
Great video! I have co-workers who have them and love them! One went to a different brand, won't name it, he didn't like it and went back to the Lorex.
Ive got a 16 ch system from lorex. Ive had it for 2+ years.. You can add wireless cameras to this system through your network / wifi router. So in my instance I didn't want to run a bunch of wires all over the yard from the front yard to the back yard.(my old flooded house is in the front yard my RV I live in is in the back yard) so I purchased a unmanaged poe switch since it was 1/2 to a 1/3 of the price of a managed switch. The 7 cameras there are connected to that poe network switch that switch it connected to my RV about 200 ft away with a nice heavy duty uv protected cat 6 cable to my wifi router in the RV I then have a few cameras mounted around my RV and 1 wireless camera at the back gate. Now on a fresh boot/restart yes the cameras plugged directly into the NVR (Network Video Recorder) do pop up quickly the others can be slightly sluggish to pop up on the screen but as far as real time video and quality there's no difference either way they they are hooked up. Yes I too have caught many people with my cameras from neighbors trying to take my dog the kids playing outside crazy family members coming over while I'm gone looking through my stuff and taking it. Had 1 guy try to destroy a camera unsuccessfully he just broke the wire and then come driving by hours later when I was outside with my local PD making the report needless to say BUSTED. Lol The PD sped off after him and he was caught. Ive also caught some beautiful humming birds mid flight checking out the camera to see what it was. I love the camera system the only 3 major cons I have about the lorex system is the setup/menus is not very user-friendly for novice users. The ai (artificial intelligence) that is suppose to pick up or detect people and vehicles for alerts is not that great. It alerts me there is a person in front of ???? Camera when in fact its a dog or other animals and last thing is on video play back. I have used different systems in the past including commercial once with previous employers and you can't quickly scroll through the video. Like other systems ive used you can roll the wheel on the mouse and it will scroll through frame by frame as fast or slow as you spin the wheel and as far as hitting fast forward you sometimes get decoding error messages where the unit is not able to process the video fast enough to match as fast as your trying to play it and so therefore it through up that message. Well there is a 4th con im sorry but lights like headlights and lightning set off the motion detection at night and sometimes the lightning causes the camera system or app to take random snap shots like it was a flash from a camera taking a picture. Besides all of that its an awesome system thats been very reliable. Arlo had the best ai ive seen on the market it detects people animals packages and vehicles its just the cost of the system the monthly service fees swapping out batteries cause its a wireless system no true on-site recording beside a thumb drive and internet is required for playback unless you remove and place the thumb drive or USB flash drive into a computer etc its just a huge expensive headache stick to the lorex system you will be pleased.
I bought a similar Lorex system about 3 years ago and love it. Mine is able to add wireless cameras to the system but I'm not sure if Lorex has made a wireless cam that can capture license plates. Have you found one?
No not yet I haven’t look recently but thinking more about it, the problem might be. A bit harder to solve. During the day it could probably be done easy but at night with cars and headlights might be tougher to do well
I have Lorex 720P bought about 6 years ago. Well today the power supply for the recorder died on me. First it appears the cpu fan was acting up the after about 2 weeks the whole system died. Checked the voltage coming out from the power supply and it was zero. Replaced it with my trusty RadioShack 5A power supply and works like a charm again. One thing I noticed is video quality is crispier than ever. It could be the RadioShack power supply puts out cleaner DC power.
I have the same system but the 8 camera. The cameras work okay not as clear as advertised but I have never been able to get them connect to my phone. I would like return them.
Hi important question 👋 is it possible to buy a Lorex set of 6 and install let’s say 3 in office and 3 at home on the same DVR? Thanks it would help so much
My personal experience…..after 2 year warranty is up, Lorex gives u the shaft. My NVR stopped booting up. Just stayed on the “Lorex” logo. They could not remote in. After 2 hrs on the phone with Tech support, they said I was out of warranty & could not replace & offered to transfer me to sales…..basically giving a customer the shaft
Is the system has 2 way audio in it? And how’s the audio quality? I’m having trouble with my Kasa system. The audio late and not clear, thinking to get something has better audio quality Thank you 🙏
@12:10 As a person who works with $1M dollar system and cameras (Genetec and Axis), the downfall of zoom cameras is that someone has to manually zoom in otherwise your left with the same problem unless the analytics are amazing. What you're looking for is an LPR camera but are cost prohibitive for the home user. You can try the LNB9292B but just know its half the price of your entire system which is not surprising.
New subscriber here from Philadelphia Pa USA. I have the Lorex 4k system with 8 cameras wired package. I also bought the Lorex Pan & Tilt Indoor Security Camera, Wireless 2K WiFi Camera I love my system. The only issue I have is storage. I would like it to hold minimuqm one month. I'm looking into that now. Any suggestions.
Are you watching Lorex NVR on 4k TV or a computer monitor. I'm asking because my picture is a little bit better then a 80s gas station camera. Seems sharper on my phone.
Thanks for your instructive video which decided me to order my kit today. For an update about your video, now their Fusion system allow to combine POE and Wifi devices but this functionnality is only available on entry NVR recorders.
What do you use indoor? I think I’m set for outdoor cameras, but indoor is my issue. I want PoE indoor, but can work with a smart platform. I want to turn them on automatically via alexa when we go out, and turn off when back…
I use locks, deadbolts, and sensors for inside. I don’t want everyone to be on cam all the time. I do have a spare wifi cam I hook up as a kitty cam to make sure our cat is getting fed etc but that’s about it.
Quick question as far as the 2tb do you think it holds up storage and how is it doing currently? I have ring but it always deletes my footage especially if I miss a day of payment and it’s annoying since I would like to have my memories if god for bid something happens..!
One thing you didn't mention was playback. While a lot of people can set up alarm zones for our purposes we frequently find ourselves needing to search the video. An example was a delivery driver failing to follow instructions. Unfortunately we needed to manually search the video however it was very time consuming because it only has 8x ff. We also have a Swann NVR and it plays back at up to 120x ff. Big difference however the Swann cameras are far inferior in my opinion. That being said we have had 2 cameras fail in the 1 year that we've had the system.
You can highlight an area when looking at footage and it will show you anything that happened in that area. As an example say I had my car broken into. I could put a box around the car hit search and it will look for any motion in that box from the day.
It's good, if you get the nocturnal cameras they typically offer a higher frame rate like 30fps which also helps. It really does depend on the surroundings though and how much ambient light is there. 15FPS is a bit slow at night and you get some ghosting
You did good not getting Arlo. I had them. They were a pain to recharge when the batteries died. And the system itself wasn't great. Sometimes the cameras would just stop working and I had to reset them. I also could not add any new cameras even though the company said I could. Tech support was useless.
Wireless isn’t as dependable and mine(Ring) froze up after a 10 seconds during a possible home invasion which I scared them off. My wifi router isn’t far from the camera but we also can’t get quality internet from a company like Comcast or AT&T. I’m buying wired now.
I appreciate when people clearly state what needs improvement on a product. It's good for potential buyers as well as good info for the company that makes them.
Thanks for comment Bryant! appreciate you telling me what you liked about the video.
Do you have an opinion on how the hardware holds up to climate conditions such as direct sunlight, high heat, rain, high winds, etc?

@@elbello1975 depends on how big your storage is and the number of cameras. But at least 10+ days for 4K 24/7 recording.

New lense will run you
where do you get the lens you are talking about
Yeah where can you buy these?
What are the name of these lenses and do you have a link?
where can you buy these?

Hi Rick, you said everything. Great advice for new users. I work with Lorex for over 8yrs. Just one tip for system IP 4k I use Amcrest cameras. It work great with Lorex, and customers happy. Better zoom, better fish eye, and everyone with better microphone.
interesting ;)
That's good to know thanks, I'm about to get an 8 ch 4 cam IP Lorex. I liked my old one off Amcrest.
I could never get my wireless doorbell to work :(
Rick, thx for this video…. A breath of fresh air…what we consumers need !! Better the most of the reviews…uhh.. actually the new form of advertising, that you’re not sure to believe. Bravo
One of the best videos I have seen recently. Extremely informative:)
You did a hell of a job on this video. you get 100 out of 100. thanks again.
Looking at all these systems myself right now and this was perfect information. Thanks so much for the thoughtfulness and thoroughness.
Your welcome. Good Luck!
I appreciate the timing that flock of birds had to lay down carpet bombing raid as it was being filmed. AND the accuracy was impeccable.
I got my Lorex 4K Ultra NVR system right before you posted your first video on you purchase of your system. Mine has worked flawless also. Thank you for the time you spend and the info you provided.
Lorex is really an outstanding system! Very nice quality!
Lorex is no doubt …superior! ! I moved out of a suburb in New York City and needed the BEST
Your comment about your lawn made me laugh. I look at mine all the time too hahaha.
Thank you for your extremely informative comment , I’ll go ahead and buy this at Costco that’s on sale now 10/23/21 for $679 here in California
Thanks!
What doorbell camera you recommend?
@@QuincyKintay Hi. I use a Ezviz DB1 system. There are a dozen reviews of different models. Each will have their strengths and weaknesses. If your door is facing south, the camera could be blinded by the sun. If it is in a dark area and there is too much sun behind the person, you won't get a clear picture of the person. Take your time before choosing and look at the reviews. Hope that helps.
Was the lorex camera the one that showed the red car driving by and you were not able to identify the car?
So glad you did this tape. Something it can be confusing. I'm convinced. Thx
I'm a bit late to this party, but Lorex does now offer what they call Fusion NVRs that can connect both wired and wireless cameras (as well as other sensors) together all on the same system. You'd need to update your NVR, but you could probably keep your existing cameras. I've been looking into security cameras lately and the Lorex has my eye for sure.
i now have fusion am doing review stay tuned
@@RickvanderValk14 nice I’ll be buying one next month
@@RickvanderValk14 Hi Rick. SO new to this and wondering, is the Fusion any better, and if so, could you do a review, please? Thanks so much! Looking forward to more great
content!
Thanks for putting in the work! I will more confident in purchasing this system now. Cheers mate!
No problem 👍
I do go through the menus in some of my videos hope that helps
Great video, to the point, not a lot of unneeded chatter. I was looking to buy to replace my current 1080p system and this helped seal the deal.
Glad I could help hope you did and like your new one
Great insight thank you. The biggest flaw for me would be that power can be cut to the home and it would be useless.
they are pretty much all the same in that respect.
A good ups can be useful in this situation. Loaded correctly it can give you a couple of extra hours without power
Thank you. Blessings for your family.
thanks for sharing!!! Lorex did a commercial during me watching your video. Hope they contacted you and sponsor you in the future.
Thanks dude really good review
I have a similar system bought at costco. Eight cams zero problems. I wish they offered LPR cameras to work on this same system. License plate recognition
That would be nice i agree..
Love that Focus in the driveway!!!
Is this a good camera to identify passing cars at night? Does it have. A good night vision?
they do offer, actually have for a while, varifocal kit. if you're looking to grab license plates a specific camera will be needed and the angle/distance is important. if you're playing back 4 screens of 4K RESOLUTION yes it will take up resources.
I have a Defender Sentinel. Have it a bit over a year now. I have had 2 cameras quit. Otherwise it is ok. Definitely go with wire system if you can.
Excellent video. Very informative. Looking at installing the Lorex NVR IP system.
Hi u got any video of those motorized cameras am actually looking at them to purchase soon
A big problem with the wireless cameras is that they stop working in extreme cold. Probably only an issue in Canada and some of the northern United States but if that’s where you live you want to primarily be looking at the wired systems
Thank you for the video I think this is the most comprehensive video on yt about the lorex system.
Glad you have had good luck too. I have gotten used to both apps. I didn’t like Lorex cloud at first but have grown to like it more over time
Just found your channel.
I have an old Lorex 16CH DVR and want to upgrade. I just from Costco the 16CH NVR now deciding the location.
Question: Do you know if Lorex has addressed the improvements you suggested?
Thanks for the follow-up...again. Your answers are thorough, correct, succinct and appreciated.
My Lorex is older with 1080P
I use 3,systems because of changing needs.
Great products really. But please where was it designed and manufactured?
I bought the $250 bundle from Costco and details say 2way audio , but I can’t see microphone on mobile app and can’t hear anything.
Great video I would buy it but Can I buy extra cables for this system my house is big
Great video and very helpful information... Well done!!
Thnx for the review and the live action shot of your car getting peppered!😅😅😅 Could also hear it.
HOW far will the camera see a licence plate a distance of 100 feet ??? Can you actually see 150 feet night vision as the spec sheet states ???? Thanks

Honest, with full detail review. Good job.
During the day it could probably be done easy but at night with cars and headlights might be tougher to do well
This is a great review. Straight forward and informative. Good job. :)
It could be the RadioShack power supply puts out cleaner DC power.
interesting, glad you got it working again!
I have the same system but the 8 camera. The cameras work okay not as clear as advertised but I have never been able to get them connect to my phone. I would like return them.
what kind of phone do you have? Are the cameras connected to the internet?
I have one and i love it.

@@DJKiDDKlashez no issue updating a firmware. But if you do, they have a fabulous support. I recommend it
Hi important question 👋 is it possible to buy a Lorex set of 6 and install let’s say 3 in office and 3 at home on the same DVR? Thanks it would help so much
Great name, great video, great information!
How fast did the hard drive fill up with the 4K resolution? Trying to figure out if I should get an extra hd
It’s about 7 days
Hi! I am just a bit confused...does each camera need to be connected to an ethernet cable?
I Purchased Lorex fusion solution, but I want to see how I can perform a time lapse of our swimming pool project, not that familiar with it.
Is the system has 2 way audio in it?
And how’s the audio quality?
I’m having trouble with my Kasa system. The audio late and not clear, thinking to get something has better audio quality
Thank you 🙏
@12:10 As a person who works with $1M dollar system and cameras (Genetec and Axis), the downfall of zoom cameras is that someone has to manually zoom in otherwise your left with the same problem unless the analytics are amazing. What you're looking for is an LPR camera but are cost prohibitive for the home user. You can try the LNB9292B but just know its half the price of your entire system which is not surprising.
Does Lorex have anything decent where you can actually see at night talk through and have 4k I am looking for something way better than from Costco 😂
New subscriber here from Philadelphia Pa USA.
I have the Lorex 4k system with 8 cameras wired package.
I also bought the Lorex Pan & Tilt Indoor Security Camera, Wireless 2K WiFi Camera
I love my system.
The only issue I have is storage. I would like it to hold minimuqm one month. I'm looking into that now. Any suggestions.
Most of them have room for another drive or potentially bigger one
I think one of the best security system that checks my list
Are you watching Lorex NVR on 4k TV or a computer monitor. I'm asking because my picture is a little bit better then a 80s gas station camera. Seems sharper on my phone.
Excellent video, thank you so much for doing it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Rick, very nice review. You covered all aspects and tell us very honestly about it. Love it. Subscribed ;)
Great review thx !
Hows the vidéo quality on a moving car at night ?
Capable of reading a plate with all the glare of the car lights ?
It's good, if you get the nocturnal cameras they typically offer a higher frame rate like 30fps which also helps. It really does depend on the surroundings though and how much ambient light is there. 15FPS is a bit slow at night and you get some ghosting
Great camera & Floodlight Combo
Very well thought out and nice review, thank you!
@9:10 the Birds said good morning lol
You did good not getting Arlo. I had them. They were a pain to recharge when the batteries died. And the system itself wasn't great. Sometimes the cameras would just stop working and I had to reset them. I also could not add any new cameras even though the company said I could. Tech support was useless.
Wireless isn’t as dependable and mine(Ring) froze up after a 10 seconds during a possible home invasion which I scared them off. My wifi router isn’t far from the camera but we also can’t get quality internet from a company like Comcast or AT&T. I’m buying wired now.
Can you view history on your phone or just devices hooked up to the hard drive?
Good work! Never seen any reviews on Lorex systems.. would be nice
