The best nato strap on F91W tutorial on TH-cam PERIOD. Literally followed your instructions as you laid them out (instead of a thimble i just used a cloth I had handy to help push the pin) and I got it done in maybe 10 minutes total after struggling just a wee bit. Awesome video mate. You definitely earned yourself a new subscriber!
Fantastic, thank you. Just did this! A little tip: You can cut off the extra strap bits if it's too long, then place the end between two coins and burn it off with a lighter to make it circular and seal the strap from fray.
The pins in mine were way way tighter than what is shown in the video, I had gone through the seven stages of grief, broken tools, a bleeding thumb and making a mess of one of the holes in the watch before I finally managed to do it, in a period of nearly 2 hours, but I eventually did it. If you're struggling too: do not despair, the pins eventually come off/snug back in but you might suffer a lot until they do.
Currently going through this on the clear variant, wanted to take off the straps and dye them but there’s no arrow and I’ve now jacked up two of the holes
The best tool to use is the watch link removal tool. You hold the watch at an angle & then just twist screw tool until the spring pops out. Then with a small watch hammer tool you can put the bar back in
Thank you so much for this video! I've been trying to figure out how to get the pins out of the holes of my F91W for months...now I finally managed. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Wanted to thank you for the tutorial, the pins had me stumped as I assumed they were normal spring bars so the video really helped me to get over that hurdle. I have the military green F91WM and with the black straps it looked okay but once I swapped them with a suitably green NATO the looks improved considerably. It was definitely worth the effort.
Many thanks. Your video was really a lifesaver. Did the exact same thing to put my f91w on a nato. And yes it was like the world war to push back those bars with the nato on. Phew!!!!
Nice tutorial! I did have to apply a lot of power to get the original pins out, even with a watch tool. Also using spring bars instead of the original push pins. This seems like a better solution to me.
I almost died changing out the strap. Also switching out the strap can lead to the holes holding up the spring bars to widen which can lead to the bars slipping out easily
The end result looks like you took a cheap watch and put an even cheaper strap on (that doesn’t fit the watch face, btw). Stock looks better and won’t fall off of your wrist.
@@trimaxium I've had my Casio rubber strap tear on me at work (in a warehouse). I have yet to have a NATO break on me and even the cheapest ones have lasted years.
Thanks, my resin strap after 10 years started to crack and eventually tear and the plastic strap holder broke. Bought a new NATO strap, much more reliable and comfortable in humid sweaty environments.
FOR ANYONE DOING THIS, dont make the mistake I did - I wanted to used the spring bars the NATO band came with instead of the push fit pins my 168W watch came with - what a nightmare, even with the thinnest NATO strap I could find I ended up having to wet the strap fabric so it would compress enough to be worked into shape and into place --- now I see if I had used the original press fit pins I would have saved myself a world of grief. I now feel I should remove the spring bars and put the pins back in, but now I dont remember where I put them.
i'm having removing the spring bars with my springbar tool. I think it may not be small enough to push them out. Would you be able to let me know where you got your spring bar tool from please?
Yeah , this . I searched for a spring bar tool but there were lots of options / different sizes in mm .Unsure which to buy so any help would be great . Thanks for the video .
I don't even know if it will look nice but do you think a leather strap could work? also will a 20mm or 22mm work? have you tried it with a 20 mm? the 20 sounds nice because it brings out the colors more simply because there is more to see. but what do you think/recommend if hopefully you've tried it?
Heyy, sorry for the late reply, but I don't think it would look nice on a leather..I have tried it on my a158 and it really doesn't..you can try it tho!
Hi! I am having difficulty changing this watch buckle and the strap retainer, I can't seem to push the spring bar to release them, and i searched EVERY where to find if anyone did it before on this watch but no one has.
Heyy! Are you talking about the original strap that comes with it? Because now I am working on a state of the collection video. But next week I am planning to do a video about Casio f91w, I will show how to change the strap, so there will be a part where I will change the buckle too!
@@WatchesChecked yes! i know how to change the strap already, its the Buckle that i am having difficulty getting the "Spring bar" out. From what I have found out is that it is a solid bar.
My solution was a lot less elegant. Cut away at the remains of the old strap, separating it from the pins. Bend pins back with anything capable of the task Slide NATO through with pins still in.

Yeah I put on the nato and it looked awkward. The watch looks too small for the 18mm nato, and the jump/transition from the nato band to the watch looks unnatural. That's why the original 18mm resin band widens once it's near the lugs

I find with these budget Casios you need to get the cheapest NATOs as they tend to be a little thinner. The strap I used is about 1.5mm thick and even then it was tight as I had to push the bars down while trying to get the pin into the hole.
