    one of the first mods i did on my casio f-91w was replace the led. i’ve done it to two other casios since. totally worth the effort. by replacing the strap and led you’ve solved two of the f-91w’s biggest weaknesses. great video.

    Whoa bro...when I did that mod with the led I used superglue to hold it in place while I put solder on. Also you can run 2 leds one on each side makes a huge difference.

    Great job, congrats!!!! I've read all 73 coments and I don't solve my doubt... The LED adopted by CASIO for the G-SHOCK GA-100, are also the "0805 SMD" ??? I want to change that amber LED that is ugly as hell, for a brighter color. Success with your content is very good, congratulations again!

    NICE!!!!!!!!!!
    You should get a PCB holder, because this LED mod is very cool and a PCB holder would really help you, by keeping the pcb stable in its place, while you work on it with your soldering iron.
    And practice more with the soldering iron on old, non-working circuit boards.

    • @Techsas
      @Techsas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but then I'll just use it once and forget about it haha

    • @Wagner669
      @Wagner669 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Techsas It's not the first F91W you modded and I think it is not the last one you will modify, so I think a PCB holder will come handy in your future videos.
      The LED that F91W comes with is pathetic!
      It barely illuminates a third of the screen and Casio uses the same pathetic LEDs on other models.
      This is why I was so excited about this video.
      Finding a replacement LED that would illuminate decently the whole screen, and modding other casio models, IMHO, would be a good content for your channel :)

      I've had x2 F91 in my life. Both I've changed the stock light to a 0805 SMD LED. First having the original Black and Blue stripe same in the video, gave it to a patient of mine that was discharged.
      And second the one I'm using now ever since Sept of 2019. The military green case. Also with modded light. Both of them still running strong on the original battery, even though I use the light almost all the time 😂

    • @cekpi7
      @cekpi7 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you pause it at 2:34 you can see that he inserted tweezers in that small hole and shorted it to ground (shield) with other side of tweezers.
      If i remember correctly there is writting on it that says "reset"

    • @naliboi93
      @naliboi93 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@cekpi7 Thanks for the reply and explanation! I wasn't 100% sure if it needed to be shorted to the outer metal shield or not!
      I had an A158-WEA that probably would have benefitted from this (uses same module as f91w I believe). I disassembled and reassembled the module, but it didn't initially work properly. Basically its LED lit up, it showed the alarm symbol, but nothing else on the screen. It did start working by itself after a few hours, but I reckon I should have just 'reset' like you've explained. It would have saved so much trouble.

    • @Techsas
