    I worked for an Interstate Overnight Transport company in Australia in the late 1970's ~ 1980's and we had quite a few 4200 Transtar's 8V71 Detroit Diesel, 15 Speed (Direct) Roadranger Transmission,
    Hendrickson Suspension.
    Also had another 4200 Transtar with 8V71 Detroit Diesel and 14 Speed Spicer Spoiler Transmission, this particular truck was purchased Brand New in 1979 from Whitehorse International in Nunawading, Victoria, Australia. (Melbourne)
    I served my apprenticeship as a Diesel Mechanic with International Harvester Company of New Zealand Ltd and always liked the 4300 Transtar ~ longer hood NTC400 HP Cummins. In my opinion the 4300 was the pick of them. 👍😎👍
    You have certainly purchased a well preserved example of day's gone by and I wish you all the Best with whatever you may do with this fine old truck.
    Kind Regards,
    AJ Bentley.
    Rotorua,
    North Island,
    New Zealand.
    PS : This brings back many great memories of Overnight transport on the Hume highway between Melbourne and Sydney. Thankyou so much for sharing this Video. Take care and be safe over there in the greatest country in the World.👍💯👍

      I agree the 4300 does look better with the longer hood. when i bought mine there was a 4200 day cab with a 903 cummins and I chose the 4300 for obvious reason. Repainted yellow and black and the engine set up to 444 specs and its a running beast now. I use it to haul steel out of Birmingham Alabama. Shell climb Monteagle loaded with no problem, I put a triple axle Fontaine 48 foot flatbed on her and she is a head turner.

    been looking at one of these for a long time, only 3 weeks away from buying an 82 Transtar 4300. Lord willing it's still a solid truck and can still take commercial use.

    That’s one sharp old IH! You’re taking it to the Iowa 80 truck show? Yeah! I’ve never been there, but hope to go sometime in the future. Have fun on it. Is that a Series 60 Detroit? 🤩

    Partner that is a beautiful truck it's not the rarest but you don't see many of them. From what I can tell the exterior in particular the paint looks excellent if there's any way you can please please don't repaint it buff that out have it cleaned professionally redone but for God's sakes those are classic truck scenes from the fifties and sixties and 70s that you do not see anymore and probably won't seen again wonderful example of a classic 1970s truck.

      Back in the day, this was my first big trk., day cab, Cummins with a 7 spd. Spicer trans., would climb a wall if u didn't spin out.

  • @vaughnhill3437
    @vaughnhill3437 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not trying to get all in your business but wd 40 is way easier on your motor than ether is. Ether is hard on those old motors. I have seen people pour that shit down a 2 stroke detroit but its hard on those old cummins and cat motors

    • @Ulfstigandr
      @Ulfstigandr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, ive seen cat loaders in the heat of afghanistan need ether to start. Its like meth for diesels.

    Why buy this old truck? International has like the lowest quality. It's not even a Cab Over. What's was the fascination? I like the colors though.

    • @Ulfstigandr
      @Ulfstigandr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      IH built great trucks before the 80s. It wasnt until they sold off everything that they started gettin cheap.
