    What set up are you using? I was looking at a TFO 6wt switch for bulls, coho, pinks. Its sold out. Thoughts on the 7wt

      I have a TFO in a 6, 7 and 8/9 and it all depends on what you expect to possibly hit your lure. Yesterday I was out and my son used a 7 wt and hit a 15 lb+ coho and the bulls can get that big as well, though seemingly getting rarer. Once the big chum and coho are gone, a six weight might do but it would be a shame to snap it when a big coho or chum grabs the lure instead. I was using an 8/9 just in case some big chum would take it. We were both drifting egg patterns and right now, and it was the rainbows and bull trout sitting in and among and just behind the salmon that picked up the hook but then he hit the coho and he repeated several times he was glad he didn't have a 5 or 6 wt. Sometimes in less than 10 inches of water. Later in winter, when it's just the big bulls, a six wt might take the pounding. The key is to use enough weighted tip and lure to it it down to where the fish are, in deeper runs you want to get the lure down in front of their faces. The sooner you get your lure just ticking the bottom rocks the more action you will get. Since you can expect to break your rod on a good day, it's best to pay the extra for one that has a mail in warranty....I am still working on the next video but it will hopefully show some nice fish. Tight lines.

      Hi Zak. For some reason TH-cam just sent me your message now. For the Squamish the smallest weight rod I use is a 7 wt. I use a one hand rod, never got into the two handed as they seem so large the the finesse of hooking a smaller fish and not feeling the fight is lost. So far my 7 or 8 wts have been able to handle every fish including the big October chum salmon that come in from tide water and fight like runaway trains. As far as flies go, i use a large (up to 5 inch) heavily weighted streamer pattern to simulate minnows for the trout and vary the colours in red, orange, yellow or blue for the chum and coho.

      Sorry for the late reply, catching up. Use a heavier weight 6 to 9 as the fish you may encounter can be up to 25/30 lb if you run into some chum salmon

      No worries. How long of a sink tip would you recommend using? Would you say T8-T14 is a good range?

    Csn bull trout be found throught the year in squamish? Any seasons hats better for them?

    • @fraserlegendsfishing3217

      Bull trout remain in the Squamish year round. While Fisheries says they do not migrate out to salt water, i believe that they do. Best time to start fishing for them is in Sept. when they start stacking up behind spawning salmon. You can also pick up rainbows, cutties and coho. either with an egg or minnow pattern

    what flies are you using?

    • @fraserlegendsfishing3217
      @fraserlegendsfishing3217  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have designed my own streamer fly that simulates various bait fish that the Bull Trout/Cutties/Rainbows/Coho prey upon

      You have to hike across the river at about km 15 to the rock faces on the far side.

      @@bsdgffishtuna5186 yes. When you look across the river you will see the big rock faces with the snow at the top and the many waterfalls that cascade down. This is the left most one. It is a gnarly hike through some very prickly vegetation.
