There are no rules of course, but the Classic Tubes and Classic 87 are meant to be used in conjunction with the ML1, and the Classic Instruments with the ML2. The ML2 mic models are mostly straightforward if you're familiar with the original mic, whether it's dynamic or condenser, and set the ML2 to Dynamic or Normal respectively. The exception being a few models that have Dynamic and Normal variants, you set the switch according to which modeling you're looking to use. Use whatever sounds good, but this is the way the software was intended to correspond to the specific Slate modeling mic and its intended use-case.

I just bought the VMS mic and I love it, but I need to know where you insert Melodyne when using the VSM software. VSM goes on top of the vocal track, so does Melodyne go above it or below it?

I got the M1 mic, but trying to get the software for the virtual mics going is not working. I did all that I was suppose to do...activated via Ilok but I'm not seeing the plugin inside my studio one 6 DAW? 😢
Did you contact Slate?
If you think this is good get yourself a Townsend/UA mic. Slate is a toy in comparison.
Have you compared those yourself, side by side and did an A/B comparison? What makes the U/A that much better?
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy yes I have both mics. Not only have I compared them side by side but I compared them to an actual tube mic together. The tube mic and Townsend were very, very close to one another. The slate, using the slate preamp as well as their modeled 1073 and mic models wasn’t even close. It lacked the presence, bigness and roundness of the other 2 and was definitely the odd man out. It sounded cheap in comparison.
