    Watching a gigantic pipe-organ peacock was not something I knew I needed, but I’m so glad that I got it 😂😂😂

    On a visit to Paris we wandered past a church that had just finished a service, my wife and I walked in and sat down as the organist played this for all his worth, amazing experience left me breathless and in joyful tears, just like now.

    The Chief has somehting to say!!!!
    0:30 "If I had words, to make a day for you. I'd sing you one morning golden and true. I would make this day last for all time, and fill the night deep in moon shine."

    It definitely feels like Camille kept Carnival of the Animals as his "best-of" suite because you can hear pieces of it in all of his pre-mortem music

    I really like this recording and the way it captures the sub bass frequencies from the 32’ organ stops

    Best rendition I’ve ever heard of the finale 👍👍

    • @G6JPG
      @G6JPG 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, it is the "hit single" bit. C S-S really should have kept this bit for the very end - there's another 7+ minutes of the finale after this which, honestly, does nothing for me compared to this bit.

      @MarcusPVO 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@G6JPG I’ve never actually thought about it like that, but you are quite true. Even the last chord of the Symphony cannot really be compared with the very first chord of the Finale…

      @@MarcusPVO Yes; the bit after (in this recording) 1:43 would in any other circumstances have been a perfectly fine piece of music, but is lessened by coming after those organ and horn bits.
      Compare the Widor - there, the middle twiddly bit (which almost gets interminable! But tolerable to anyone who knows what's coming) is just capped by the ending few bars.

    Does anyone know why Saint-Saëns notated the melody starting on the second beat of the 9/4 bars? It doesn't make any sense to me!

    • @rhinrhino

      @@Daniel-hx1yu yeah I think so too, but the other instrument, not the organ. Like the orchestra land on the first béat of the 9/4 bar and the next the organ plays his chord.

    • @sphenlee
      @sphenlee 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Daniel-hx1yu But it could just be an 8/4 bar (followed by 7/4). Since every beat is accented it doesn't really need to be 9 beats. Or is there a reason why it's 9/4?

      @@sphenlee even with accents there's a clear distinction between the pickups and the groups of 3, that's why it has to be in triple time

    I could be wrong but at 0:12 there is a mistake in the left hand, the very top note is an F which would make the chord a 7th chord but it sounds major so it should be a G?
