    I have a similar setup. One thing I found with the remote start, you still gotta be at the generator to start things up...not to be started with load on it, such as 30 amp plug. If it's pouring outside, you still got to go out to plug loads in. I've considered moving mine directionally, have generator face with inside access...the extended exhaust flexible. The fans, must have to not significantly reduce the life of generator. Like most things, heat and dirt are a machine's 2 worst enemies... electronics included. Nice vid!

      Just open your main input breaker inside the MH when starting remotely, then close it once it's running.

      You're absolutely right... I very rarely use the remote start. It's just a cheap fix. Lol

    you can do the same thing with morryde freezer tray. The advantage is that it pulls out 200% rather than 100% but is rated at 25 pounds less. But the generators don't come close to weight capacity. Also you can get it in wide or narrow pull.

    Great Video!!! What have you found while using it in inclement weather?

    • @thewantedbandlive
      @thewantedbandlive  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I live in Florida, so it never really gets used in cold weather. However, I would recommend getting a better generator. This one ended up having a ton of issues. Thank you for the comment.

    The Onan is a 170 lb, $4,000 piece of garbage. A much better solution is a lift for a portable generator that you can roll 20 ft from your camper where it won't shake or make noise in your camper. A built in generator is convenient, but very loud and irritating. Great video.

    THIS IS HOW I FIXED MINE, IN THE CASE OF....
    "I CAN'T START MY GENERATOR"
    It's has been two years since last time it was running, so I started by checking oil level full at gen dipstick (it won't start if low oil because of sensors) then I checked gasoline more than 1\4 tank in the RV (also safety sensors), sparkplug checked for good spark, also checked the manual reset circuit braker ( to be ON) at front motorhome engine compartment for 12v current to the generator to be able to start it, also cleaned the carburetor and even installed new one but same situation, then checked wires and found some has been chewed like gum by rats at the back of starting switch generator panel so I replaced them, at this time the generator started but stay running only by keep pushing the switch on all the time, so then finally I knew it was internal electrical problem from the engine itself, so I took the generator out from my RV to work in my garage, (I did this by myself with some tools and old Mayan tricks ) lol, it's really heavy for one person.
    I disassemble the unit at my garage and started by removing the cover, then the cooling fan or flywheel unit (it's 2 items in one) until finally I was at the gen rotor and brushes assembly area and this is what I found: one more wire chewed by filthy rats plus the stinky rat nest in the middle of the generator motor coil, I fixed the wire and sanded the commutator copper contacts where the brushes are sitting becouse they were real duty with old urine from the rats, and of course I got rid off the stinky nest, lol!!!
    Then I assembled everything back together and... bingo it's runing like a champion!!!
    For this project materials involved was about $60.00 including an aftermarket new carburetor and an harmonic balancer/steering wheel puller (available at any auto parts for $25.00) to pull the aluminum fan out and (flywheel).
    Just picture this: (Any gasoline engine run smooth if gasoline and DC current aren't interrupted) so following this important principle you'll always find the problem to be fixed.
    Also if you have a onan microlite 4000 like mine, don't run it for more than a minute without the cover because you'll cook the engine real fast, also keep the eye on the aluminium fan and your fingers after cranking it in case you missing one or two members...just kidding, lol!!!
    After testing the gen with the help of a gasoline container, a piece of hose and 12v battery, I did put the air cooling assembly back and the rest of components including the cover, then it was ready to be installed at my RV.
    Once the gen was installed back at my motorhome I started it to be tested for 120v electricity but not before flipping the AC circuit switch (on) at the gen starting control panel (sometimes hiding under or around the panel) to be able to transfer power to my RV GFCI main outlet and electric panel as well, my motorhome it's equipped with GFCI so I reset it and tested for green led light indicating power is ready at my main breakers panel, so I turned my main breaker (on) along the others ones but no power was present at my breaker main switch (faulty main braker) so I flipped it many times, sometimes you can make it work again, mine did work, lol!!!
    I'm happy because everything works now including the refrigerator for cold drinks and AC for this crazy summer, lol! Later I'll buy me a new main braker, for now this is a resurrected generator story that needed to be shared.
    If this can help eaven one person to save time and $$$ it'll make me more happy, thanks for reading.

  • @yillbs3014
    @yillbs3014 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    you purchased this for the remote start. You didn't mention that you have to have the power turned ON in order to use that remote start though, so the remote start is actually pretty useless in this case because you'd have to come outside, turn the power on, then use remote start.

    • @thewantedbandlive
      @thewantedbandlive  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is not the case with this generator. It's a gas generated with an electric start and has its own battery.

    • @yillbs3014

      @@thewantedbandlive The generator must be in the ON position to use the remote start function.

    So if you’re not supposed to start it with anything plugged into it, what good is the remote start? Same with having it in eco mode, if you have to go and turn off eco mode or plug your rv in you might as well just push the start button !

      Can you turn off at the panel ? I have a panel where I turn off the 12 volt. Moat have a cutoff switch?

    What a great idea. How is that westinghouse doing after a year? Still running OK?

    • @thewantedbandlive
      @thewantedbandlive  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's still running but to be honest if you can afford a better one I would get it. The carburetor choke screws vibrated completely out which caused part of it to come apart. Also after about a week the choke stopped working and I had to stick a screw driver into the automatic choke switch area while trying to start it just to get it going. Called the manufacturer and they said it is a common problem and sent me some instructions on tearing it down and fixing it myself. lol.... never again.

    Did you run screws thru the brackets and straight into the bottom of the box, or did you need to add supports of some kind to screw into?

    • @thewantedbandlive
      @thewantedbandlive  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just ran screw straight through the box. When you consider the weight of the generator that thing isn't going anywhere.

    THIS generator may be equal quality to onan however i dont like the external cord plugged into the gen because in time the plug will get hot and start breaking down and tripping breakers . hmmm?ty

    • @thewantedbandlive
      @thewantedbandlive  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually it is no where near the quality of an Onan. It is an entry level generator for someone like me on a budget. If you can afford an Onan I would definitely go that route.

      @@thewantedbandlive i get it ! i did the same to a pace arrow using a harbor frieght 6500 and mounted it in the compartment and hooked up the fuel lines etc.. it looked great and somewhat factory too! But it never worked like the onan and i had to plug my external cord into it which caused the plug in to get very hot after turning on ac,s :( i sold the coach and moved on but i am liking the remote starts generators and think this remedy could work more effectively with consideration to the quality of generators and the wiring . here is another cool project " Low cost 295 wtt solar panels can be bought on ebay 50 x3 each and a couple of trojan batterys 75 each a regulator simple design 25 each and adding a 4 plug inverter 1500 watt 100 usd with installation materials and a optional solar charger controller 300Usd which ive never used with previous solar projects , will run everything except the ac,s and microwave and under 1000 which im doing now . ty
