- The Supreme Court afternoon gave Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal interim bail till June 1, the final phase of voting for the seven-stage 2024 Lok Sabha election.
The Aam Aadmi Party boss - arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in the alleged Delhi liquor excise policy scam, and now in the city's Tihar Jail - must surrender to prison officials by June 2.

The SC judges must be probed. In fact they had already decided to give relief to farjiwal but misled the country and the judiciary in general. Its time the country made the SC answerable and accountable. Also the practice of a judge selecting another must be stopped and a new system should be introduced.

I see some comments that how the SC can be questioned? That’s quite funny. Why not it be questioned. While they are supreme they are not immune from questioning. The court itself allows for reapple in some cases means there can be chances for different perception. In a democratic country everyone is subject to criticism. Law itself is not above the law.

It is like parole or temporary release for 21 days with Rs 50000 surety to deposit to Jail authority, not the SC, so it is a parole in true sense.

It is high time that Parliament passes a law that mandates every Judicial decision to be supported by an explanation detailing the logic applied by their Lordships to arrive at their Judgement along with the legal reasoning for the same.
By not giving up the CM seat while in jail, he was able to secure the bail, some good legal advisor working behind the scene with judges
I consider it a black day for Indian democracy for the following reasons:
1. Law and justice are not same for all. Some people have a special favour based on circumstances.
2. If a person has no criminal precedent, or not a recorded precedent, he will get special orders to enjoy what he wants to do.
3. Politicians are treated differently than businessmen or teachers or doctors or other professionals. Bcos, if a politician wants to go out of jail for whatever reason, he may get bail, but may not be others.
4. If a VIP or a top politician is able to dodge summons from investigating agencies, say even 10 times, he will be a super super privileged person and he will get a special circumstance favourable ttreatment.
5. Without even asking the accused VIP why he didn't attend summons, the court will find fault with investigating agency why they delayed the investigation. But the court will not take into account that the criminal accused skipped summons 10 times and added 6 months delay to investigation.
6. A minister or a CM, even though accused of any crime and being investigated can still be a minister or CM for the entire assembly period. No court can question bcos, there is no law. But the court can release him on bail saying special circumstances though there is s no fundamental rights violation.
On the whole, it is a black day for Indian judiciary. God save Bharat.

Like one political observer said : Kejru wanted his arrest to be observed as illegal by the court and set him free. But court told him to take interim bail which Kejru never wanted. As inferred by some observers, Kejru may not rejoin the jail but will excuse himself citing many excuses.

Strict conditional interim bail to Kejriwal will prove to be strangulating knot on his neck.
However, Supreme Court judgment granting bail to Kejriwal will set a very bad precedent. It will create a new category of interim bails. It will flood courts with interim bails.
Since lower courts submit to SC judgments, this will become an easy destination direction, escape route for the corrupt & criminals. High Courts will then start granting bail to corrupt politicians during state assembly elections.
Influencing election outcome because of bail & succeeding in election will be equated by the corrupt & criminal as exoneration. That can further influence final judgment.
This can also create public anger against judges if the judgment differs from the peoples' judgment of electoral victory of the corrupt.
Judicial reforms, police & investigative reforms are urgently required in India to prevent corruption & diversion of trillions of rupees into non-productive fields.
The judge Sajeev Khanna is an exceptional person ( part of the bench who granted bail) as he became a SC judge in Jan 2019 Superceding 32 judges ahead of him - as a choice of SC collegium. He will be the next CJI. Good times ahead for likes of kejriwal
