The difference between drummers who can play something and drummers who have difficulty, is simply the lack of practice hours. Before that LLB drummer put in the hours, he couldn't play it either.
Drummer Ryan McQuerry playing open handed, harder than it looks for a right handed drummer. 16th notes on the hi hat. A marathon groove. Very well done.
One of the greatest improvements to music has been the ability to really hear all of the background. In this song, the bass and the piano really stand out. This is the type of song that makes a man glad he decided to be a bass player.
Everyone - the band, the singers, and importantly the production/mixing crew achieved that prototypical 80's sound. Great stuff! Kudos to drummer and bassist, incredible consistency required with their parts, and they did it.
I remember hearing an interview with Kenny Aronoff talking about filling in on a Serger tour and said it was very difficult to learn the drum part with those double snare hits. After getting it down, Bob told him that it wasn’t originally meant to be that way, they had recorded two separate drum parts and doubled them in the mix, but one was just a hair off the other, which could have been considered a mistake, but they kept it because it sounded cool. Ryan nailed it, something that Aronoff talked about being so very difficult. Cheers!
Perfect! That lead vocal was amazing, and Seger is not an easy copy. All the vocals and instruments were spot-on. Randy is one of my favorite musicians to watch. Great bass.
Awesome awesome awesome. Man....what great memories from high school, jamming with a lot of great friends. Great performance by all and the production team. I must speak to the drummer, if you have listened to this song, then you know the drum beat and effort here is fantastic! 👍👍👍👍
My favorite of Seger's was always Night Moves followed closely by Roll me Away. Just very relatable even though I'm considerably younger than him 1960s Chevys were all over in my youth.
I love Seger! Thanks for another OUTSTANDING cover of a great song! You guys are the best!! I don't think I have seen Randy's fingers go so fast either! :)) Thanks for the "thrill!"
Now that's how you do Seger!! Mike, that was a perfection from everyone involved!! From Randy and Ryan keeping that beat and to Austin on the keyboards and some harmony with the beautiful Jessica and Katie. That was one outstanding performance. LLB rocks and Thanksgiving came a week early!!!
When somebody says "classic rock song", this song comes to mind. I grew up in South Lyon MI. Bob was all over the radio. I still think he's one of the most underappreciated acts in all of rock. as I close in on the big 60, these songs Take down your meeting every year. Thanks for paying tribute to one of Michigan's finest.
James Taylor once said that his drummer ( Russ Kunkel) was the only man he knew who could make music by hitting things. Well time after time Ryan shows us he's just as good. Great to see so many comments praising his drumming here. Love from Bristol UK.
All I can say is WOW. The is as good as it gets. This is a great Seger song and LLB totally smashed it. Benji totally killed the vocals. Man he is so good. Vandee and Austin on the keys is always a treat. Randy is the man on bass and Mac on guitar and those two never ever disappoint. They simply kill it. And Jessica and Katie are just heavenly angels when they sing together. This is what I love about LLB. Look everyday to see if there is a new release and when it is release day you look at the song and the artist and you are like omg. This is gonna be so magnificent and it always is. Another grand slam guys and gals. Love the cover and love you guys.
There is something about a Bob Seger tune that just makes me feel like I was 17 again and totally invincible. Fantastic job just keeping that rocking rhythm burning. If you're thinking about more Seger songs to do, may I humbly request Roll Me Away. You do your typical LLB thang to that, I can die a happy man!
This is another one of those LLB masterpieces where I literally cannot pick out my favorite part or performer! What a fantastic job by each and every one of you! Benji absolutely nailed the Segar sound. Austin's fingers are poetry in motion. Vandie never ceases to amaze with his variety of talents. I'm convinced Mac can reproduce any guitar sound and rhythm. Randy had that bass smoking. Ryan stitched it all together in perfect time. Jessica and Katie were the icing that topped off this sweet sound. Last but not least, the production crew made another incredible vision a wonderful reality for current and future fans. Bravo, LLB! 👏👏👏
Man, you all kicked a** on this on. I've been a Bob Seger fan for decades. My late friend Mike and I got to see the Silver Bullit Band on their farewell tour in NJ a few years ago. I can still hear Mike's voice afterward, "Best concert ever." Rest easy Mikey-O.
Absolutely fabulous! LLB is the second best band my friends have never heard of. The Red Wings jersey did not go unnoticed as Seger is one of Detroit's best.
Honestly? A ridiculously brilliant cover of an excellent piece of music. A muscle killing drum contribution, hats off to the man behind the kit! Brilliant
Do You'll Accomp'ny Me That is a Song that came out in 1980 & for me It was about my High School Crush, Sadly never got a chance with her But Wow every time I hear that song it takes me back to a much simpler & innocent time & Makes me tear up at the memories
Nothing like hearing Detroit's best being paid tribute by the best from the legendary Lexington Lab Band!! Simply smashing!! Loved every second!! Cheers!!🎸🥁
Great respect to the lead singer who glides through the vocal styles of three legendary male singers, Phil Collins, Billy Joel and now Bob Segar in the same recording session ( if I am correct ) and successfully retains the essence of each in the process. Not an easy task for anybody. It helps of course with the backing of very good bv and really talented LLB bandmates. I am glad this video pops up.
I have always loved the drum part of that song, to keep that same tempo for nearly five minutes takes a ton of skill. Great job Ryan. Benji gives the vocals a cleaner sound than the slight rasp that Bob has in his vocals.
I requested this song a few months ago and LLB did not disappoint! Great job by everyone. This isn't Hollywood Nights without that drum rif throughout the song so hats off to Ryan! More Bob Seger please! How about Old Time Rock and Roll next??
For nearly 40 years this has been 'our song' - my wife and I. Now we're getting old I find myself starting to cry with the sheer depth of emotion this song brings me. Why this song? Damned if I can even remember now. It doesn't matter. I could type paragraphs here, but all I need to say is this just lit me up. Wonderful from all involved. Thank you.
A song that few seem to cover, but you guys did it admirably. It had all the feels. Fun fact - there are actually two drum kit tracks on the original recording. Your dude freaking took care of business on it!
Fun fact: When this song was recorded, the drummer David Teegarden recorded two separate parts otherwise known as "Double tracking" Really impressive job on this to all, Especially Ryan and Randy.....man this song takes me back a long ways..... and as always, Mike, great job on the mastering.
I played drums in a Bob Seger tribute once. Once I found out there were actually two drum parts on the recording I felt a lot better about how I did. This is so good. SO good. I need to go practice.
You guys are my magic time machine. I closed my eyes, listening to this Seger classic and I'm 16 yrs old again, cruising Main Street in my 1970 Ford pickup.
A great rendition from the LLB of a hell of a song from one of the greatest live double albums ever, titled " Hollywood Nights" by Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band!!!🎉❤ I Just love it and you all nailed it!! Thank you very much LLB with this trip down memory lane!! Cheers & regards, Ron🎸❤😊
When I saw this one pop up in my notifications, I thought, "This will be interesting to see what they did with this song". I had a feeling it would disappoint. Bob Segar is likely too unique a sound to duplicate without disaster. I clicked the play button and almost instantly got goosebumps. The drums! The bass! The piano! The B3! The guitar! THE VOICES! I love everything you guys do and am in awe of your talent. PLEASE don't ever stop...
That was outstanding! The bassline. Simple musically. Amazing dynamically. And I can feel the RSI emanating from my elbow trying to play it. Just brilliant!
This is one of those songs where the beat isn't complicated but MAN keeping up that rhythm for nearly 5 minutes is a sign of a good drummer!
Totally! And he's like a machine, just right on it.
No kidding. I don't know how he managed. That is the first thing I noticed. And then I noticed the insane finger movements on the bass.
Oh yes. Inspired
The difference between drummers who can play something and drummers who have difficulty, is simply the lack of practice hours. Before that LLB drummer put in the hours, he couldn't play it either.
Ryan is a monster drummer for sure! Great tempo, lots of stamina. Bravo!!!
Fantastic, no other words for this classic! Love Lexington Lab!!!!!
No one is gunna mention the great work of the backup singers?? 🤠
KILLED IT
They are crazy good!!! 🌞🪐⚡️⭐️💫🌛
Drummer Ryan McQuerry playing open handed, harder than it looks for a right handed drummer. 16th notes on the hi hat. A marathon groove. Very well done.
Isn't he amazing ! Such a *GREAT JOB* .
Considering the original recording was double tracked, he did a fantastic job!
That was wonderful ! Hats off to Randy for rockin that bass! Thanks LLB
Randy really working that bass, awesome! Everyone is fantastic as usual, but the bass really stands out to me! More Seger please!
My fingers got tired just watching that bass playing! What a workout!
@@ageingviking5587 Randy is a beast. I commented on another video that he is just one of those bass players that drummers feed off of.
as a drummer I gotta say the drummer nailed it....
Wow 1978 and you guys made it come to life for an old dog like me. Thanks all !
No doubt, used to cover this and woah--some majorly good memories! They knocked this one out of the park-nice!!
One of the greatest improvements to music has been the ability to really hear all of the background. In this song, the bass and the piano really stand out. This is the type of song that makes a man glad he decided to be a bass player.
They have the best sound engineers in the game.
Yeah, the bass was really cookin'!
I have an irrational love of both Austin and Ref and have for years.
I agree.
swear I've watched this 100 times.
Yes I keep going back to it also. very pro
Omg I love Bob Seger. I clicked so fast ❤ Sounds just like him!!!
Bob Seger himself would be proud of this. OUTSTANDING JOB as always...
The best Bob Seger songs put you in the middle of the story. I'm glad y'all picked this one and then NAILED IT! BRAVO!
Dude they nailed the song , remained true to the original, and put their own LLB flavor into their version of this classic! Rock N Roll Umami !
This is a drummer's song, and Ryan nailed it!
Another gem from LLB.
Spectacular work by Randy on bass!
Freaking BASS is kicking 🦵 ass
Beyond amazing!
Lead and backing vocals were outstanding!
Bass, drums, and keys were also outstanding!
Facts 😂🎉🎉🎉
Bob always served up the best blue collar rock.
This is fantastic. The drumming was awesome! Thanks for performing one of my favorite songs. I am never disappointed!
Everyone - the band, the singers, and importantly the production/mixing crew achieved that prototypical 80's sound. Great stuff! Kudos to drummer and bassist, incredible consistency required with their parts, and they did it.

Getting those double snare hits perfect that long and consistent is phenomenal!
Wow, that is a crazy story! Two seperate parts eh? It is wild how some of these behind the scenes details are! Ryan is fantastic on this!
...and lets hear it for the man who sounds just like Bob Seger. I swear if I were not looking, I would say it"s Mr. Seger himself. Fantastic Voice!
Wow! Good bass work, good Tele work, good hi hat work, good Organ work! The Backing V’s are just heavenly. What a mix! Thx guys and gals. Enjoyed. 👌
Thank God we have a band like this to keep these timeless classics alive! Amazing job!
It’s not easy to get Seger’s voice inflections right, you did it! And the instrumentation perfect.
I've come to expect nothing but Pure Excellence from y'all, and I think that's about the highest compliment I know how to give.
LLB...my favorite thing about TH-cam.
My favorite song. I am in love with the drums on this song.... Absolutely a masterpiece. Thank you.
Ryan will be delighted if he reads any of these comments. So good to see him come in for so much praise.
Perfect! That lead vocal was amazing, and Seger is not an easy copy. All the vocals and instruments were spot-on. Randy is one of my favorite musicians to watch. Great bass.

You knocked this one out of the park,, Drummer is getting a workout, everyone involved with this song,, great job!!!
Finally Seger! I grew up listening to my dad spin 33's all day of Bob Seger. Against the Wind is a masterpiece. Thank you all. Masterful as usual!
❤1978 better time. You guys are amazing. Thank you for the memory 😊
I really appreciate the fearlessness of covering these iconic pieces. So good!!!
Fabulous cover! Absolutely nailed it... backing vocals outstanding.
That was some workout for Randy and Ryan. Also Vandy’s Nicklas Lidström Red Wings jersey is a nice motor city tribute. Well done!
This is so ridiculously good, I can’t take it!! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦! ♥️🎸♥️
Totally fantastic, that's call nailing it Drummer was great whole band fantastic
Randy crushed on the bass!
Brilliant as always. Every instrument and voice is excellent but the bass and drums make this song. Bravo!
Fantastic! How bout that drummer ! Great sounding snare.
Killer performance 👍
This is just top drawer. It conveys all the drive and enthusiasm of the original. Benjie has the perfect voice to do Seger.
When somebody says "classic rock song", this song comes to mind. I grew up in South Lyon MI. Bob was all over the radio. So good! Every member of the band was superb. Nice to see Randy taking a prominent role as he smashed it out on bass!
Absolutely epic cover! Thanks!!!
Absolutely fabulous! LLB is the second best band my friends have never heard of. The Red Wings jersey did not go unnoticed as Seger is one of Detroit's best.
Backing vocals are supposed to help fill out a song. These ladies put the exclimation point on another LLB GEM!
Honestly? A ridiculously brilliant cover of an excellent piece of music. A muscle killing drum contribution, hats off to the man behind the kit! Brilliant
Good to see Ryan coming in for so much well deserved praise.
Benji and the Ladies are so versatile and talented.

Nothing like hearing Detroit's best being paid tribute by the best from the legendary Lexington Lab Band!! Simply smashing!! Loved every second!! Cheers!!🎸🥁
I have said this before - you guys should have + 1 mil subs given the sustained quality of your work. Everything you do is top drawer.
You guys & gals always nail it. Never notice how this song really gave Ryan a workout to keep it driving. Great job everyone.

Finally is right! Outstanding! So good.
I've followed LLB for a long time, and although many of the faces have changed, you're still the greatest cover band EVER!!!!!
When Detroit met Lexington, and they sang a song about Hollywood!!! Yeah baby!!! 👍🏼👍🏼
As Always, Y'all are Frickin' AMAZING!!!👍❤🙏!!!!!!!!!!
Beyond perfection.
Mike the Red Wings shirt was a great touch.

So awesome! Props to the drummer…
This was done 4 years ago by HSCC and it's still a great rendition. Please keep both as they're both great!!
Nailed it. AGAIN! Very nice. Very nice indeed. 😬
I played drums in a Bob Seger tribute once. Once I found out there were actually two drum parts on the recording I felt a lot better about how I did. This is so good. SO good. I need to go practice.

Randy earned his money on this one 😂
Wonderful job everyone!

I can picture Bob Seger listening to this with that great, big smile of his. 😁 Wonderful rendition LLB, you did Bob Seger proud! 😎👍
If there was a song that I needed stuck in my head at 7am it's this one. Sheer perfection again by LLB !!
Great to see some Segar. Great job by everyone!
Musicianship at its best.
Wow, how about THAT bottom end? Randy and Ryan coming through BIG as always!
- Ed on the Ridge
Tough song & voice to cover…..but, LLB did it proud! Bravo!
Absolutely Fabulous, you folks are the best who do this on TH-cam ! J… Toronto

I kept studying the drummer and I’m not sure how he just absolutely kills this song with only two hands. Outstanding performance.
Good call. When Seger and the Bullets recorded this there were two drummers live in the studio.
@@billfly2186 I didn't know Ryan's surname before these comments. Ryan McQuerry is amazing.
@@billfly2186 I heard this also. I thought "no way can a single drummer do this". Apparently I was wrong...
WOW WOW WOW OUTSTANDING 🤓🇫🇷
LLB CONTINUES TO KNOCK IT OUT OF THE PARK, THIS IS A HOME RUN! 😃
Stop thus right now. I’m running out of compliments and you guys just keep deserving them. Thank you for the great music.
