Howdy! There has been a fake account commenting to people to "text me" I have made it so they cannot comment anymore, seemed like a scam of some sort, just know I will not have a secondary account, if it is not a comment from Sonne Farms it is not me! Be careful out there
Bummer I clicked on it and looked you up on Instagram. I went to Sonne farms account and friend requested you. I looked at all your pictures. It appears to be you. Please look to see
Oh mylanta, shut the back door. Them scammers need a walking to the back side of the wood shed with a good willow switch. Dang, I’m tired of lies and fraud . . that’s way I like your videos so much. You tell it like it is.
I used to drive truck for Chamley out of Williston ND, I delivered those windbreak panels all over the place. most of the ones we sold were built in Bismarck using old oil well casing and sucker rod. Used to love doing those deliveries and meeting all the great farmers and ranchers all over the northern plains.
Did I tell you about the time I hitched a brush hog to a 1997 Toyota 4Runner to mow down a stand of 6’ tall giant ragweed - it was like watching an ocean of green slapping the hood of the vehicle as I drove keeping the top of the power poles in my sights because I couldn’t see through it. Only managed to get a few acres chopped before we stopped . . to clean out all the filters and remove debris from radiator . . and called the doctor the next day for a diagnosis of severe hay fever. A local farmer chopped the rest . . God bless good people.
Hello Cole I’ve had the same thing happened to me the problem is the wind is blowing the crop headfirst into the header therefore the crimper rollers are pulling the grass before it got cut I think you’ll find it only happens when you’re going in that direction had the same problem myself last year didn’t happen this year no wind similar sort of crop
Thanks for another great video Cole. Most enjoyable and interesting for sure. Song of the day. Really a good western song Brian. He has a lot of good music. You shirt is just fine Brian. Seen a lot worse that I used when on the farm. Looking good if you ask me Brian. The swather. Wow. Lots of trouble. But you kept with it and that is good. Couple of suggestions. The knuckles on the roller shaft wear out sooner than you might think. Might need to be replaced. Also the belts probably are worn. Once they lose their grip the roller plug in heavy grass. Believe those are the things I would check on. Believe that is why the rollers are plugging. Time to change some of the wear parts. Like the device you have in your new pickup bed. Neat design. And now there are two lawn chairs. Welcome to married life Cole. Hang in there. You and your dad are the best at herding cows. You two make it look effortless. Good going guys. The raccoons in the rafters. That is tough to deal with. Wow. I know this sounds not the best. But some poison them if not able to trap them and return to the wild. Not bring cruel but just a fact of life. They make a terrible mess. Who wants that. Just saying. We had some in a grainy and finally had to get DNR to trap them. Oh boy a mess. About it for now I guess. You all take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for everything Cole and Brian. Have a good day in Mitchell, that has a really good sale barn. The Iowa farm boy.
DANG! now that there's some GRASS! But so sorry it got all wound up in the machine! ugh! We are just now getting grass up this high but wow, the only upside to the massive rains we have had up here is the hay fields are astounding! Want to say THANK YOU to you all for the kind prayers for us and all in the Yellowstone area. We are still facing tough times but working together and with some outside help coming in, hopefully we will be back up and running soon. Thanks for keeping the prayers coming!
Well that certainly looked unpleasant, dealing with all the plugging. At least you hung in there and got the job done, kudos to you Cole, hate to see you had to go through that, I feel your frustration. I like what you guys are doing for the shade, to help give the cows some relief. Loved that Ford F150 and the Decked Drawer System. Thanks for sharing, hope you all have a great weekend.
Rapid City!! LOVE the hills south and west of Rapid City. Used to go out there just to BE out there. Did some fishing, camping, and just enjoying the hills. (fish made a fool of me) Spearfish Canyon and Terry Peak are superb.. But, I was there round 1963 to 1967 time frame. Probably not recognizable any more. Even google earth don't look the same. Looks like that grass cutter needs a backwards mode that might spit out the jams it makes. Your patience is amazing Cole. Thanks for taking me along again. Enjoyed this a lot. Think I would have tried to cause harm to the trash panda hiding in the building there. He will definitely be trouble if not "eliminated !!"
That grass was beautiful. May need to check the mower for loose fit. Sure was plenty thick. Brian those are my dress shirts buddy. Plenty comfortable and doubles as a bib too.
I spent 4 days 60 miles from the farm swathing really thick stuff and plugged up every day. Today is my first day back on the farm and then this comes out. I'm glad I wasn't the only one really suffering this week
If you farm... you always have those old thin shirts for those hot days! Even more so for bailing hay! Some with some small holes for added ventilation! That's farmin... and that's my story... I'm sticking to it! 🚜👍👍
We are in the upper 90's in my area today and I am wearing just such a threadbare shirt! I refuse to let go of them till there is nothing left, they are great. Someone could make money selling extra thin threaded shirts I would think.
My husband worked Heavy Highway Construction building interstate highways and bridges, he had some of those old thin shirts that he liked to wear to work. As he was the construction manager I thought he should wear nicer shirts, not ones that you could read a paper through. I was always trying to get rid of them. I would throw them in the trash and he would pull them out and put them in the washer.....lol
Definitely belt replacement time Cole, I’ve ran a few Heston Razor Bars and they’re the same, if you plug em up for seemingly no reason the belts are the issue.
Every season replace the belts. Time is money too. To extend the life of a belt spray it with 'oil' so it does not dry out as fast. And no. it won't slip just don't go crazy on the amount. (Kroil penetrating oil)
I remeber my cousins mowing hay with a Ford 8N tractor and a Sycle bar in the side. Then the followed dup with a crusher . They Bailed with a New Holland Square Bailer, It was a lot of work
Oh Cole and Brain and Jeff...what ya'll go through to help get them lil' black and brown and white faced "doggies" to market! What creek would be up ...without ye? Thank ya'll for ranchin', farmin', fixin' and feedin' 🇺🇸 !
Adjust your windrow a little more narrow(lever in center position). I spent 2yrs unplugging my W235 and burning belts in thick grass trying to lay it wide. Dawned on me one day when you lay it wide you push the deflection plate down to force the hay under the forming shields, when high volumes of grass come out of crimper the plate backs it all up. No more narrow windrows in grass, and no issues this year!
I knew how you feel because our combine tailings elevator has been getting plugged 30 times daily. Every time I have to go on the complete opposite side of the combine to open the hatch then go back in the combine to turn it on, and finally go back in latch it! We got new belts and it worked good!
Right on Cole. I only worked part time during a few summers at my uncles' farms in Saskatchewan. When I ran the combine, I sure did not like cleaning out a "plug". It meant getting out the crowbar and pulling out canola or whatever. I could feel for you as you pulled the grass out. Take care. (The crowbar was used to turn the cylinder on the combine. This was before the days of combines using a rotor.) 😊
There's adjustment plates above your cross augers. You may need to slide them down closer to the auger. Same thing happened to me. Only needs to be about 1/8th inch gap
Hi Cole, great camera work as always. I really appreciate the different angles ... good outlet for your creativity. Watching you mow grass is relaxing ... Thanks for sharing!
Next time you might want to try raising up the cutter head height about 2” and then slowing down your ground speed. The lower grass is very wet which is causing a lot of slipping on your feed rollers. This causes it to build up on the crimp rollers then a plug. Sorry you had all the plug up slow downs. But you sure you did a great job of thinking outside the “box” to use a cutter knife section to get this job done. Thanks for letting me ride along with you today.
Hey Cole, I sure hope you find out what is wrong with the hay cutter. Good luck on getting the coons out of there. Thank you and Mr. B for letting us follow y'all around. Thank you guys
Sucks you're having so much trouble with that swather, Cole. Hopefully, you'll get the kinks ironed out before the next time you need to use it. Brian, since you're a fan of country music as well as rock, you should give a group called Blackberry Smoke a listen. They play southern rock and have been one of my faves for quite a while now. My bet is you'll like them.
I'm glad you leave in the rough times to and don't just make everything look all rosy and smooth. I would have risked putting a hole in the side of the barn to have shot that coon before it messes up some hydraulics or electrical trying to at a pile of grain or something in a hard to reach spot on some of the equipment, babies or no babies, they end up being the problem yet to come. As you can tell I've had coons do a lot of damage to things around my place till I trapped them out.

Does the Yellowstone River border your ranch in Montana?
@@alan30189 they are from south Dakota pretty sure the river isn't to close.
@@alan30189 very close to it, yes. Had flooding clear up into pastures here

Great job working the cows and calves Brian and Cole
The nickel lives on! Woohoo! Someday you will find that nickel.
Those windbreaks/ shade panels are genius!
Great video Cole and Brian
Wore out T-shirts are the best to work in on a hot summer day!! I’m a carpenter and have lots of them for work!!
More than a Feeling : Boston 😊👍🏻
Those shirts are 'tan through' very comfortable on a hot day, can get a sunburn with it on, don't ask how I know!!
That rock you hit with the worm on it ,the worm looked like a army worm.
Nice looking grass crop Cole and Brian
so lovely compared to last year, great to see!
thanks!
Love watching those tractors work. Great video.
Great shot of the grass waving have a day love ❤ from TEXAS
In the UK we refer to C&W music as dead dogs and divorces.
If you play a C&W record backwards the cowboy gets back his dog, his horse, his pickup and his woman.....
Great job cutting grass Cole
Great job moving the windbreaks Cole
Is the cutter head not reversible? I figured you could push your engage switch backwards like on the combine
i think its only works if it has a draper head on it. but not with this head.
