    As a beginner at watercolors & enjoy doing landscapes ty so much for these tutorials!
    Learning more colors you use (more difficult as a beginner) & learning to get these two color’s blended easier! Getting that mountain (misty look still practicing) then simple moon & easier way to add tad of “gouache” for water reflections & going to try to do this one 😊!
    On Payne’s grey (mine is PBk6) & strangely leans bit “green)? Will often use neutral tint (3 pigment mix) as Payne’s grey can look very different depending on brand!
    Love the soft colors then darker mountain contrast you achieved 😍.
    My math skills are not good as just found out about the tiny “marks” inside that 1 inch on the ruler 🫠. If my area to paint is 5”s & 1/4th (vertically) how to I measure so can know 1/3rd’s of it & mark place for the 2/3rd part?
    Yes, taking off the tape fun part!
    Tyvm & doing test sketch first 😊.

    • @MirandaBalogh
      @MirandaBalogh  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you for sharing your watercolour experience! Honestly, I don't worry about measuring and dividing the paper into perfect thirds. Instead, I estimate where each third is and then I make a mark on the tape so that I know where the thirds are. Once I've done that, I begin painting. I hope you find this advice useful!

    Hi I am just beginning and have painted this picture , however my paper as curled can you advise please?

    • @MirandaBalogh
      @MirandaBalogh  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi Ruth! Good question! Watercolour paper curls for several reasons. The first thing to to check is if you taped the corners of your paper down. If you didn't, the paper will curl as it absorbs water. The second thing to consider is how much water you used while painting the layers. If you used too much water, the paper might curl and warp. The third thing to consider is the quality of your paper. If you're using wood pulp or cellulose paper, it can't absorb a lot of water without curling or buckling. In this case, use less water while you're painting so that the paper can handle the water more easily. And to smooth out the paper after it has curled, lay it face down on a table and place something heavy on it (like a stack of books) to flatten the paper out. I hope you find these solutions helpful!

    When ppl tell me as a beginner to “let it dry” I would love some time frames. Should I just grab my heat gun, or should I sit here for about 5 minutes or so?

    • @MirandaBalogh
      @MirandaBalogh  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That's a good question! When I let the layers dry, I usually wait about 5 minutes. If I'm not sure if the paper is 100% dry, I touch the paper with the tip of my finger to make sure that it has dried. However, if I use a heat gun to dry the paper, that only takes 2-3 minutes. But I always wait until the paper has cooled before adding the next layer. I hope you find this answer helpful!

      dont be discouraged!! talented artists have true passion and draw lots, its why they are good..
      if you want to create art, you should LOVE art just as they do!!
      keep practicing if you want to become good, everybody starts somewhere, and for every good work there is many "bad" ones!!
