    Marvelous video! During my youth in the early 80's my father would pack the family into the car and off we were to Lanseria airport - there was a high open terrace balcony where one could enjoy watching small aircraft: everything from taxing to takeoff and landing and parking. The aircraft were but 30m away at times. It was there that started a lifelong love of aircraft, especially props. I don't know if that terrace is still there, for I am a Continent away now, but this video envoked wonderful memories! Super smooth landing in this beautiful aircraft. Thank you Captain Warnecke for this and all the other videos.

Still keeping myself in GA and ultralight world because the ferry flying is one of the dreams. Gotta make those types keep coming to be at least a little bit competetive in the future. That is correct. Touchscreen on the ProLne Fusion. You still have 2 FMS for input with keys. Another difference ist the pressurization controller is automatic now. The cabin altitude and cabin VSI gauges are integrated in the PFD as ist the flap indicator.

    I have a question, would it be safer to put the propeller lever forwards to ensure that the "off governor" state is reached? If we had a very high headwind and the propellers were on the governors, beta and reverse may not be engaged? This is what the RVS NOT READY amber warning is for, on smaller an older KA models, this could be a problem because of the higher propeller speeds. Is not pushing the prop levers forwards standard operating procedure in this model?

    • @GuidoWarnecke
      @GuidoWarnecke  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      In older King Airs you can land in any propeller RPM. In the 350m as a transport category aircraft, you have to land with props forward. This ensures dingle enge performance data on a go around, if needed.
      If yu land with less than full forward props, the reverse would still work, but there might be some surging on the props.
      Food practice is to push props forward after landing.

    Does the autothrottle eliminate the need to ensure the throttle friction is set tight before takeoff. There has been much discussion recently over the issue of pilots taking their hands off the throttle levers after v1 after fortgetting to make sure the friction knobs have been tightened which allows the spring to retard one or both throttle levers. A B200 crashed at Essenson airport in Australia for this exact reason a few years ago.

    • @GuidoWarnecke
      @GuidoWarnecke  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have a good point here.
      On the take off briefing / checklist the friction locks are an important item!
      If one thrust lever rolls back because of a lack of friction, it "feels" like an engine failure. With the BIG difference that the auto-feather system is not triggered. Thrust lever back and low torque = "normal" condition.
      This can happen to any pilot who is not properly trained on OEI One Engine Inoperative procedures. Task overload -> tunnel vision -> loss of control due to inadequate recovery actions.
      You have friction locks in the 360 too, but you are actually encouraged to keep them LOOSE to ensure free movement of the auto-throttle electric drive in the thrust levers.

    Thank you for the video. I have been waiting for a video on the KA360 auto-throttle. Does it have a significant efect on a single engine operations? The failure of one engine during takeoff is less fatal now?
    What cabin altitude does it have at FL340 and FL350?

    • @GuidoWarnecke
      @GuidoWarnecke  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Vladimir,
      OEI one Engine Inoperative situations still require a well trained pilot.
      Where auto throttle helps is that you have max power available on the good engine without the risk of loosing the good engine by exceeding ITT limits.
      The cabin differential of the 360 is slightly higher than in the 350, resulting in an approx. 600ft lower cabin altitude.
      At FL350 you have approx. 9,400ft cabin vs. 10,000ft in the 350.
      For MEDEVAC operations you can hold a sea level cabin to a higher altitude. That is of importance for patience in critical conditions.

    Never take your hands off the throttles during take-off, rotation, and climb-out. I don't care what auto-features you have.

    • @GuidoWarnecke
      @GuidoWarnecke  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      You are correct when you talk about light piston engine aircraft. The trottle may creep make and an inexperienced pilot may not catch this.
      In multi-engine turbine aircraft it is different. There is a throttle friction lock installed, that also needs to be checked with the final items on take off.
      On the aircraft with auto-throttle (the one in the video) it is even more different: The trottle movement is automatic and the pilot should only interfere in an emergency/malfunction.
      There is another different concept in performance guaranteed multi-engine aircraft, which are certified to climb away on one engine: Up to a desicion speed V1 you keep the hand on both throttles and reject the take off if certain failure conditions are met.
      Once passed V1, a rejected take off would be very dangerous. You are too fast to be able to stop at the end of the runway.
      So in order to help the pilot to overcome a reflex to pull back the throttles at high speed and risking a runway overrun, it is established practice to take the hand off the throttles at V1. Hi speed rejected take offs have a bad safety record with a lot of fatalities. Industry standards and procedures don't come out of nothing, they are paid with blood.
      While your comment is much appreciated, it is always good to see the context of a video and the type of aircraft before firing away with criticism.
      Best wishes for 2024 and Happy Landings,
      Capt.. Guido

    • @77Avadon77
      @77Avadon77 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GuidoWarneckeWell it seems like this practice, regardless if the throttles are automatic or not, of taking your hand off the power level is reckless. Failure to catch that on a checklist, or not doing a checklist could end in the throttle slipping and having a catastrophic accident, as occurred here. So the idea is that a pilot may have an inclination to pull the throttles and overrun the runway? Wouldn't it just be better to tell the pilot to ride the throttles, and not pull them rather than abandon them. Automatic or not, I don't think I'd ever be taking my hands off the throttles.

    • @GuidoWarnecke
      @GuidoWarnecke  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      I do not know what your aviation background is.
      Transport category, multi-engine aircraft (defined by the ability to continue a flight safely once passed V1 speed on take off roll) are operated differently.
      A takeoff in these aircraft is a well rehearsed standardized maneuver, with performance numbers and power settings that are calculated BEFORE the take off roll even commences.
      You most likely refer to light piston aircraft, where it is good practice to keep the hand not the throttle during take off roll and the initial climb (to detect throttle creep back).
      You see an example in in one of my videos here:
      th-cam.com/video/RgpprKQ46EM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=oQkee75ScTRPz0Ve&t=34
      I strongly recommend for you to google some articles about basic operation of larger aircraft and the associated take off techniques.
      As I mentioned before these "best practices" have evolved over many years by analyzing accident reports and general human behavior in a cockpit.
      If you keep your hands on the throttle at V1 on a check ride in a transport category airplane, you certainly will fail the check ride - for good reason.
      Happy Landings,
      Capt. Guido
