What an amazing trip! All the way via Canada, iceland, through Europe and into Africa via Egypt... that must have been cool but also tiring I imagine ;)
Hi Dave, this is my "standard route" from the USA. These ferry flights are never "standard" though as the aircraft I fly are not designed for these long distance. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
The term "anti-ice" is a bit misleading. It is a system that deflects particles out of the engine air intake and protects the compressor blades from damage. On these runways you often have small pebbles and stones. So before touch down I switch on the "anti-ice". The better description for the system is "inertial separator". Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
@@GuidoWarnecke oh ok. I know about internal separators especially from the TBM 850 and up but never knew it's called anti-ice in the king air which I assumed is a system that heats up the propellers. I learned something today. Thanks.
Glad you like them! Happy Landings, Capt. Guido If you have not done already, please subscribe to my aviation channel and turn on notifications, so you will not miss any new videos. Thanks for your support.

Greetings from a subscriber here in Zambia. Planning my first trip to Charles Prince soon hopefully so was great to see it feature! For those of us with dreams of one day flying around the world would it be possible to include handling fees paid at each location? Perhaps on your slide shows. Whilst one can get a vague idea on cost and availability of fuel it is very hard to track down what one needs to budget for handling fees. Love the videos. Many thanks for taking the time and effort to Share. PS - Saw Micke and Konstantin fan boying in front of your pic in Wick the other day. Made me chuckle!

Guido Please consider subscribing to my TH-cam Channel and hit the "notification bell". No cost for you and you get notified about any video uploads. Your support is highly appreciated.
Not sure if I misread, but if you had engine anti ice on, why would that be? Very nice video and channel. Never mind, I think I misunderstood what you meant by hot,
You saw that correctly. In this case it is not "anti-ice", it is against dust particles and small pebbles on landing. The correct description of the system is "inertial separator". It protects the compressor blades from external damage. , Happy Landings,, Capt. Guido
Hi Sam, "anti-ice" is not a good systems description - inertial separator is a better one. It is a deflection system that throws out particles and debris before it enters the compressor stages of the turbine. It prevents damage. As you can expect some debris on these kind of runways, I put the "anti-ice" system on to protect the engine before touch down. Thanks for watching my videos in such detail. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
Would you ever consider recording a blog video showcasing some of the journeys you have to take to get back to Boston on commercial aviation? I’m sure a trip back from a small strip in Zimbabwe is just as interesting
Great landing, always love the informative videos! I do have to ask… would the king air be able to recover from a bounced landing and go around at that density altitude and runway length, or do you accept the risk?
Thank you! You will; always be able to recover from a bounced landing by adding power and go around! Safety is always no 1. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido If you have not done already, please subscribe to my aviation channel and turn on notifications, so you will not miss any new videos. Thanks for your support.
Sometimes (not often) I have issues with the aircraft. Safety is first and the flight will be continued only after the problems are solved. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Great Video as usual😊. I'm flying simulated in BC Canada with a C172. One question: how did you get back home from there 😅? Looks like there's nothing than your plane...😂
Hi Guido. Is it generally easy to pick up commercial flights back to your home? Or do you sometimes get a mission going back the other direction? Cheers. - John
Usually I get good connections with commercial flights home. To have a return ferry flight is a lucky strike and happened twice only in the past. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
Hi Chris, unless you go to Hawaii, the range of the King Air 350 (>1,600NM) is good enough. Tanking a pressurized aircraft is complex and only done when really needed. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
@@GuidoWarnecke Thank you sir. I remember the older videos of you hardly having room due to the ferry tanks you had to carry. Glad you have the range not to need them now.
Couldn't the A/P be disengaged using the red button next to the trim switches like usual in other aircraft? Also, did you have to depressurize the cabin after landing? Is it necessary to turn off the engine bleeds before shutdown or should they stay open?
If you disengage the AP with the BRB big red bottom the yaw damper disengages too. Not comfortable for the passengers in the King Air 350 with the long cabin. I use the BRB just before landing only. The pressurization is set to 500ft above landing elevation, so the cabin should be depressurized before landing. Part of the checklist. If all goes wrong, the weight on wheel switch on the landing gear will open the outflow valve and depressurizes the cabin after touch down. The bleed valves should be cycled to the position “instruments only” before engine start. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido Please subscribe to my channel - thank you for your support.
Awesome video as usual! Can I ask why engine anti ice is used before landing in such a hot airport? I hope I'll be flying kingair in the near future, as I'm currently going through CPL training in Canada Thank you again for the video, have a great day!
Thank you! "ANTI-ICE" is an incomplete description of the system. It is a flap in the engine intake that throws out particles of the engine intake air before damage of the compressor can occur. In icing conditions, these particles can be ice. In operations like thins one, we care about pebbles and stones lying on the runway - happens often in Africa. Hence the activation of anti-ice before landing. For your CPL training I wish you best of success. Please keep me posted. I did my flight training in Saskatoon, Montreal and Toronto. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido Please consider subscribing to my TH-cam channel. Your support is highly appreciated.
@@GuidoWarnecke thank you very much for the explanation! That's an inertial separator then! Thank you! I am training in Steinbach at harv's air, hoping to start working on float planes as a bush pilot! Have a good evening, Sufyan from Italy
you've got to go to Antarctica, just so you can say you've visited all 7 continents. Maybe if you contact someone who does the service flights from NZ they will let you ride there + back, just as an honorary benefit?

@@GuidoWarnecke That country is a mess now - very sad. In the early 80's they falsely accused my Dad of a crime, imprisoned and tortured him. After a year he went to trial and was found innocent but put back in prison for a few months until they kicked him out of the country (and other Air Force officers). That's what initiated our migratiin to the States to start from scratch. An uphill battle but we're out of that corrupt country - even though it was my home. Happy landings indeed! 😎
What's the reasoning behind requiring engine anti ice ON just before landing. Let's say in this case, no visible moisture or low temperatures around incase of a Go-Around. Plus I would imagine anti ice would "steal" lots of bleed air for that maximum power incase of a go-around. Otherwise very nice video as always.
The "anti-ice" (better word: inertial separator) protects the compressor blades from debris and pebbles that might be loose on these king of runways. In this aircraft, the engine anti-ice is just a mechanical deflector, it does not affect bleed air. It increases ITT though, so the engine may produce less than rated power in a "hot&high" environment. So in case of an engine failure, with full power needed on the "good" engine, one should switch off the anti-ice. Happy landings, Capt. Guido
Hi Christian, that is indeed a challenge. I prepare well for a flight if I have not flown a specific aircraft for a longer time. Especially the avionics require a "mental adjustment". I spend also a to of money every year on training. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido if you have unit done already, please consider subscribing to my channel. I appreciate your support. Thanks!
I've never understood the difference between high idle and low idle on the condition levers. I've only flown piston and sometimes the turbine engines are a mystery.
Bleed air is taken out of the engines to pressurize the cabin (other things too, but mainly for pressurization). The King Air B350 is certified to maintain a guaranteed climb performance after an engine failure. As bleed air "bleeds off" power from the remaining engine, the engineers gave the pilot a switch to reduce that amount of air taken from the engine and increase the power of the remaining engine. All to ensure a climb gradient. In a small Piper Seneca, the climb rate after an engine failure is a "hit & miss" and depends on the conditions. And luck... In the B350 it is guaranteed. That's all behind the switch - no rocket science. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
High Idle and Low Idle on the condition lever is only for when you are at idle power. If you are cruising and you push condition to high idle nothing happens. Its more used for Max Rev Thrust Landing and on the ground if using a lot of GEN Amps
It will affect engine performance but it protects the compressor blades from damage by debris, dust and pebbles on the runway. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
Genau so isses Roland! Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

The term "anti-ice" is not a good description. Better is "internal separator". It deflects the intake air and throws particles out in order top protect the compressor blade. On the ground on these kind of runways, there is a risk of small pebbles and other debris. That is the reason why "anti-ice" is deployed. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

These ferry flights are never "standard" though as the aircraft I fly are not designed for these long distance.

Very nice as usual. I'd love to know why you turned on engine anti-ice during the approach. Thanks.
The term "anti-ice" is a bit misleading.
It is a system that deflects particles out of the engine air intake and protects the compressor blades from damage.
On these runways you often have small pebbles and stones. So before touch down I switch on the "anti-ice".
The better description for the system is "inertial separator".
Happy Landings,

@@GuidoWarnecke oh ok. I know about internal separators especially from the TBM 850 and up but never knew it's called anti-ice in the king air which I assumed is a system that heats up the propellers. I learned something today. Thanks.

Hallo lieber Herr Warnecke,
Bessere Bezeichnung: intertial separator. Google mal.

Not sure if I misread, but if you had engine anti ice on, why would that be? Very nice video and channel. Never mind, I think I misunderstood what you meant by hot,
You saw that correctly.
In this case it is not "anti-ice", it is against dust particles and small pebbles on landing.

Terrific as always Captain. Don’t know much about the King Air, is the Anti Ice always on for landing even when icing conditions don’t exist?
Hi Sam,
"anti-ice" is not a good systems description - inertial separator is a better one. It is a deflection system that throws out particles and debris before it enters the compressor stages of the turbine. It prevents damage.
As you can expect some debris on these kind of runways, I put the "anti-ice" system on to protect the engine before touch down.
Thanks for watching my videos in such detail.

-67 engines? curious what kind of true airspeed you see in the 30s with that. how does the fuel burn compare to the -60s?
Speed does not come for free. You see around 300-310KTAS, depending on temperature. Fuel flow is proportionally higher.

Guido, Do you ever find a need to put bladder tanks in the King Airs when you ferry them or is the on board tanks good enough typically?
Hi Chris,
unless you go to Hawaii, the range of the King Air 350 (>1,600NM) is good enough.
Tanking a pressurized aircraft is complex and only done when really needed.
Happy Landings,
Capt.
Happy Landings,
Capt. Guido

I hope I'll be flying kingair in the near future, as I'm currently going through CPL training in Canada
Thank you again for the video, have a great day!

I would assume its for FOD from the runway
The "anti-ice" (better word: inertial separator) protects the compressor blades from debris and pebbles that might be loose on these king of runways.
In this aircraft, the engine anti-ice is just a mechanical deflector, it does not affect bleed air.
It increases ITT though, so the engine may produce less than rated power in a "hot&high" environment.
So in case of an engine failure, with full power needed on the "good" engine, one should switch off the anti-ice.
Happy landings,
Capt. Guido
@@GuidoWarnecke now makes sense. Thanks for the feedback
💪💪
How do you manage to fly so many different aircraft? (Just starting my pilot journey )
Hi Christian,
that is indeed a challenge.
I prepare well for a flight if I have not flown a specific aircraft for a longer time.
Especially the avionics require a "mental adjustment".
I spend also a to of money every year on training.

if you have unit done already, please consider subscribing to my channel.
Happy Landings,
Capt. Guido
High Idle and Low Idle on the condition lever is only for when you are at idle power. If you are cruising and you push condition to high idle nothing happens. Its more used for Max Rev Thrust Landing and on the ground if using a lot of GEN Amps
Hey captain, one question, why engine anti-ice on for landing on a hot airport? This will not affect the engine performance?
It will affect engine performance but it protects the compressor blades from damage by debris, dust and pebbles on the runway.
Happy Landings,
Capt. Guido
@@GuidoWarnecke Thanks captain

Genau so isses Roland!

Being overly cautious with engine anti ice on @ 3:47…with an extreme OAT….😮??
The term "anti-ice" is not a good description. Better is "internal separator". It deflects the intake air and throws particles out in order top protect the compressor blade. On the ground on these kind of runways, there is a risk of small pebbles and other debris.
That is the reason why "anti-ice" is deployed.
