I have to confess, I had to go to court this week (Jury Duty!). My wardrobe, where the aesthetic is there for me, wasn't quite Court-appropriate by my standards. I dipped my toe back into the pool of fast fashion to source a blouse, which ended up being a men's button up. And. I. Loved. It. Also, I was the best-dressed person in the room in a navy linen skirt and a very 70s-inspired men's burnt orange button up. In a sea of faded blue jeans, sneakers and puffer jackets.
Honestly sometimes you make the best style discoveries by accident. The reason I got my first black thing (in a long time), a black turtleneck, was for my volunteer shift at the Jazz Festival, which has a black dress code. You’ll be ripping that turtleneck from my cold dead hands. 💀
I realise after 8 years of minimalism, with much inspo from your old channel A Small Wardrobe, I no longer really have many wardrobe struggles! And I only own 23 pieces, including underwear, activewear, sleepwear, jewellery and shoes! It's a good feeling, and much of your advice really helped to get me here 💕
I find it hard to look stylish in summer - like when the temp is 30°C + Winter I have a style I like - skinny jeans, black boots and various shirts and jackets. But summer I struggle with. I don't like wearing shorts or showing alot of skin. I have a long "hippy" style skirt I like, its not especially stylish though.
Summer favorites for me are dresses that cinch at my waist (you can do this with a belt, sew on cinch ties, or find a dress with couch ties built in. A long dress with side slits feels modest while still having airflow!
I've watched you for a few years. Witnessed your transformation. Obviously, I liked your look before, but you're like a butterfly emerging from your cocoon.
I struggle to look presentable when bringing the dog out (we live right downtown), and I find myself limited when dressing up for work. I will definitely be creating a plan for these struggles. Thank you for your very helpful content! :D
might i suggest an *activewear/athleisure capsule* it says, "i'm comfy" but still looks good enough because they're not frumpy old sweats+Ts, rather, are curated to look nice. i've created this for myself so i can look & feel good going to the gym, going for a run in the neighborhood, doing things with kids, getting the mail.. etc.
@lizasoliman723 that's perfect and makes alot of sense!!! Thank you 😊 I happen to currently be working at a sports clothing store, so I'll use the discounts to my advantage to build this capsule :D
I'm looking at a new work wardrobe for 2024, once I find the work. I've had a wardrobe that could fit into a small suitcase since the pandemic, so big adventure ahead. Going to call it that despite small terrors.
I struggle with having different textures coordinate. Also, if the clothing isn’t comfortable, I won’t wear it. Looking for effortlessly upgraded, breathable clothing ❤. How do we know what to bring in that will go with other wardrobe items? How to get out of a boring style rut?
I love this so much :) My challenge is that I used to be very into my style and traveled the world for work. Since the pandemic, I work from home which I love very much and also have a young very active dog (see photo) and during the pandemic, gained a little weight. So now I am usually so so casual that it has devolved into a t shirt, no bra and leggings most days. I kind of love the simplicity and I do value comfort more now but I also feel shabby with my current "fashion" :).... my life has changed so much, not sure how to shine in this current moment. I do love the simplicity and working from home.
I have that A-Esque puffer bag in metallic navy and it is gorgeous! I'm not a bag person at all but I needed something more grownup than my beauty old satchel and when I came across this on another TH-camr's video I leapt on it. And I love that it's an Australian brand. :) I am really enjoying your videos - simplicity but also pragmatic (and I also live in Perth so can relate to many of your comments)!
I actually saw that A-Esque gold pouch in a store in Sydney about a year ago and almost bought it. So cute! Also, even though I live over East now, I was born and raised in Perth and will be back for Xmas. I always get the feels when I see Patricia's panoramas of Freo and Cottesloe beach 🥹
Real problem area: PERTH SUMMER. I can't seem to feel glam when it's 42C and I'm sweating off my makeup and sunscreen. About to try your previous tip of sleeves rather than sunscreen tho, wish me luck ❤
Haha. True story. This is why I revert back to neutral and easy in Perth summer, because I certainly don’t have any emotional energy for putting on clothes. 😂 when I’m reasonably content with my summer wardrobe I mostly don’t even shop in Jan/Feb.
do you have different moods for different seasons? i struggle with my summer mood; she only has 2pcs rather than 3pcs, and is more soft & flowy. i love my spring/autumn/winter mood because i can wear blazers & leather jackets & my skirts with tights... all the things i can't wear comfortably in summer.
One day I’d like you to consider the time poor real woman who doesn’t have hours a day to try on things or sort their wardrobe. Some woman haven’t had this time in decades while the raise a family, work, run a household of many people. I don’t have an issue with your content it’s just not realistic sometimes. It’s definitely targeted to the single girl audience that has nothing else in their lives but their wardrobe.
asking genuinely: is it her job to cater to all lifestyles and audiences? i feel like there’s plenty of other creators out there who deliver that kind of content
Being a single childfree almost 38 year old I LOVE this style of content. And I work In scrubs. Yet I take the time to very mindfully curate my outfits to suit, church, family gatherings or a day off at home. I get this type of style does not appeal to everyone or even to all’s lifestyle but there are some of us where this content is actually relatable! ❤
@@faketeeth_ didn’t ask her to cater to everyone just to consider a specific kind of time poor woman. I don’t necessarily follow fashion vloggers. Some of us are here for other reasons too such as the asmr or philosophy etc. I just think that she has a very narrow target audience and is not realistic for some to spend this much time considering their wardrobe.
@@ronnie-lynn that’s exactly my point. It is very relatable to a narrow audience. I’d love to see her consider a wider audience that is also interested in dressing week but maybe just don’t have hours a day to try on everything or shop etc. Some of us a busy doing a million other things. It’s hard enough to even watch our favourite TH-camrs sometimes.

Have you tried a loose linen or viscose pant? That’s my favourite for summer. 🌞

Struggle area = looking nice while having a toddler (messy) and completley different body shape.
Great to see adorable Gary again👍😘

Patricia I really really obsessed with your style so so so much and your cat is too too cute and I wish you have a fabulous weekend 💫💗🥺
my struggle area at the moment is what to wear for the holidays in a hot country…
Love the vivalia recycled bottles black and almond flat shoes in both cokors.

Yes! I think A-esque are quite a unique brand, creating their own amorphous impression in a world full of defined silhouettes. 🤌

I wish I liked those shoes …. They are being pushed by several of my fav TH-camrs but I can’t get passed how goofy-looking they are 😒
