If I feel like crying my eyes out, I listen to this piece. However, not all the pianists, including some of the best-known ones, cut the mustard for me. Eric Lu's interpretation is very clean and sensitive.

i fell in love with this piece hearing it in a documentary on Horowitz at his 80s, tought he was the only one which could play it right ....I just changed my mind, absolute beauty

I can understand why so many pianists feel uncomfortable playing so much of Chopin. It's so personal and full of pain albeit so powerfully beautiful

People with only left brain have a hard time grasping the unfathomable profoundness in Chopin's works.

this is so true ! My teacher, who’s a concert pianist, tells me that he “doesn’t like” playing Chopin because it lays his heart bare on the table, it exposes the hidden depths of one’s soul and he feels, his words, “pretty vulnerable” when playing Chopin’s music. I think, on the other hand, that it is the most beautiful thing a musician can experience, because that ability to express vulnerability is at the core of music itself.

I'm a Pole and I'm deeply moved by how non-Poles (particularly non-Europeans) just play Chopin's mazurkas well, and it feels like someone is talking to me in my own language. This Chinese dude maybe doesn't know, but he can 'speak' Polish. And he 'speaks' it straight to the heart.

I just like two things about this performance; his lyricism (he makes the piano sing) and he doesn't always rely on a strict tempo, especially where it affects the lyricism of the piece. It's a successful and deeply felt interpretation.

I have no idea. Some (but certainly not all) reports from back then seem to suggest that Chopin"s technical prowess as a pianist fell short of what we assume that it was. In his YT channel "AuthenticSound" Wim Winters apparently agrees, asserting that Chopin's chops were not nearly as good as Liszt's. (Then again, rightly or wrongly, who would dare compare ANY pianist with Liszt?)
Not for nuttin' (as we say in NYC), a story was making the rounds several years ago about a good tenor who asked a GREAT tenor (since deceased) for a favorable quote to put on the good tenor's latest album. At the story goes, the great tenor obliged by offering the ff.: "It doesn't get any better than this." Understandably, the good tenor declined to use the great tenor"s "rave" review.
