The first time I listened to this piece, I cried and I couldn't stop crying for an hour, not because I felt touched by it, though I did, but because it made me reflect and assimilate its melody with how my life has been until now. And no words can describe how a musician such as Thai can touch me and make me reflect about emotions I for long had buried.
But thanks, my tears were much needed for my understanding.
Thai touched you ?
@@ajbrewer1777😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭LMAO
i know timing and phrasing are subjective but this is a master at work. he juiced chopin's mazurka for every note of emotion.
Thanks that’s true!
One of the best performances I ever heard of this piece. Notice that the pianist applies an imperceptible delay between the notes, even when not written by Chopin, to let the listener enjoy every single note. This enriches the piece with pathos and suffering, because each detail creates the same feelings. Really great execution 🤩
I have to say that I have listened to this piece hundreds of times in my life, but I could of never imagined listening to such a magical interpretation as this one. It' s one of the most elegant, hauntingly emotional, and raw interpretations of Chopin's mazurka in A minor. It transcends emotion, beauty and true artistry. I am honored to listen to this masterpiece!
This masterpiece is a reflection of what life really is. That in life, sadness and happiness always side by side, and always take turns, like seasonal changes.
at first this piece seems simple, but the difficulty of playing this piece is clearly huge, this interpretation and the one by nelson freire are the best
I'm so glad that this performance was my first contact with the piece. Every other performance I've encountered pales in comparison.
Same

Same. I’m sure this is the definitive reference performance. What pleasant perfume in that room.
Maybe this is the best interpretation of this work ❤
So far this is my favorite performance of this fascinating piece of music.
for me the same sir!
Yes Sir, toghether with Rubinstein!
Same here.
Bless your heart
It's so beautiful, so close to Nocturne Mazurka. His piano sound is really art itself. If you close your eyes and listen to it, it was a lyrical performance that the stars in the night sky think.
What a master, he's so immersed in the music, even on a video, you get drawn in, such a subtle and authentic performance.
What a wonderful interpretation of this piece. Exceptional control of the left hand. Definitely deserving of the best Mazurkas prize in 1980.
Astounding performance. He conveyed the message without gimmicks and mugging it to impress the audience. True pianism.
Omg, this is an *AMAZING* performance.
First time hearing this interpretation of my favorite Chopin Mazurka and I loved it!!! Very delicate and nicely played! Cheers to the pianos tuners too, the piano sounds amazing♡!!!
one of the few pieces where audience without knowing, respect the fermata at end, and only clap many seconds after
they feel it :)
I have no idea what my emotions are doing. Maybe they're just reacting to this perfect performance,
Dang Son! This is amazing
I’m not a hater. I am the biggest Horowitz fan. Ever. But is this mans interpretation of this piece better than horowitz? The way he milked the emotion of every note. I can’t believe i’m even kind of comparing this man to horowitz. that’s a testament to his piano playing. truly sublime. i need to check out more of this guy.
He's a fantastic pianist I've seen him live he won the chopin competition in 1980 he's one of my favorites I've also seen horowitz,Evgeny kissin,, ashkenazy and others he's one of my favorites
Dont forget rubinstein, he has the entired mazurka's set and they are deligthful
I love the way the piece ends with the F major inversion instead of resolving. It sounds like a question mark hanging in the air.
Toucher déchirant à l'exposition, désinvolture brève et passagère, retour à la première exposition et la même solitude en second sujet, retour à l'aérienne méditation. Bravo Dang!
Outstanding Performance By Dang Thai Son He Is A Great Pianist
Heartbreakingly beautiful!
Chopin to najpiękniejsza spuścizna dla ludzkości.
So so so BEAUTIFUL and Great pianist !!!!
I’ve been so busy for the past several months that I haven’t actively listened to much classical for a while, but this made me remember just how much I love this music. 🥹
Played like a jazz artist...FANTASTIC!!!
Such feel, great musicianship
because this mazurka is really jazzy! it's almost unbelievable that this piece was composed around 1830, not 100 years later...
this mazurka is not jazzy... jazz comes from Chopin Rachmaninov and romantic music
YEAH!!!
Mazurki Fryderyka Chopina to kwintesencja polskości. Wspaniałe wykonanie, bardzo dziękuję ❤️
Thank you for your enthusiasm for Dang Thai Son's art! I will post additional videos as I get access to these, and have time. In the meantime, I hope you continue to enjoy and to share those videos that are currently available. Happy listening!
This is the pinnacle, the ne plus ultra, of this piece; Dang! He milked every note and nuisance. There is absolutely no rendition that can be more theoretically sublime. This sounds so reminiscent and serene, almost as if you are watching the world hustle by while remaining unmoved and at peace.
that final silence says it all
I love this man
Oh this is marvellous 👏👏👏
若い時の演奏しか聴いてなかったのですが年齢を重ねたからこそ出るなんとも言えない味を放出されてますね。
一番驚いたのが色気がエグいですね
Magnificent music making!
Milked to perfection, thank you for posting.
his lilt and tempo are amazing, not to mention that silky touch.
A lot of emotion
Its just beautiful
Very intimate interpretation.
My most favorite classical cover of all time!!
Hauntingly beautiful
incredibly heart touching
This is amazing!!
Love, love this score...takes me back to what romantic love feels like... again.

a caress between tears
Bravo maestro!
beautiful. I wish they included the Applause tho instead of cutting it as soon as he finished
sublime
Many, many thanks1
Magic.
This is the perfect fusion of jazz and classical music. Playing a classical piece with a bit of rubato just makes magic
or 19th century pianism
Dang Son
bravo
Aparte klasse, top!
Smooth!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow.
Thank you so much for posting Dang Thai Son! Keep posting please! Where do you get these videos?
Unglaublich gut gespielt
Очень интересное прочтение ! ❤️
A truly underrated pianist who was overshadowed by the very erratic and disappointing Ivo P.
he was very good when his teacher was with him. I agree his latest releases are highly questionable
Often most people forget the merits of the composer.
Chopin was also a virtuoso, don't forget that too.
pretty sure Chopin would have been impressed with this interpretation.
@@gfunkk honestly he probably would have thought “wow a chinaman playing one of my pieces”
@@georgejungle138 that's fair, it would have been pretty impressive for his music to have reached that far in his lifetime.
mistrz
ダン・タイ・ソン自体はそうではないけど色気のある演奏ですね
Chopin in jazz... Hahahahahahaha'

This is good, but NOBODY ever did it better than Horowitz.
SIUUUUU
lúc là cẩm chướng,thua xa lục bình
Chopin was very carefull while writing rythmic motives. They are the core that develop his melodic themes. So many pianists, even the greatest (like Horowitz) let themselves go too free and change them, from momentary emotion or a misplaced sense of expression. This performance, although beautiful, is no exception. Triplets changed into semiquarters, non-writen silences at the beginning of measures. Dotted triplets with changed order. There's no respect for the composer.
boo hoo hoo. 🙄
Chopin literally invented rubato….
you clearly dont understand music if you believe in what youre saying
People throughout history have not had the same absurd rigid view of music as you. Chopin himself often edited pieces for different students. It's about when you can deliver through the piece. Some people don't respect the composer, but that is not this.
lol your a noob pianist
This piece is easy to play, except that hideous A Major section in the middle......It is so hard to play well.
dang, son...
